Won't win a Riga-Tony
TheVideoGameScrub25 May 2023
For some time i struggled between giving this a 5 or a 6. This movie has a nice animation style, gore and good voice acting. However, many of the jokes just didn't hit for me. Occasionally I found some things in the movie amusing but never did I find myself laughing aloud or smiling during the 70 minute runtime. I never was in a position where i regretted starting this movie. That being said at no point did I find this movie to be something I'd remember beyond a viewing and a review. Some of the characters were likable, while others were annoying, such as Mary. This movie is slightly above average and is a deviation from ATHF but does have some positives and should appeal to those who enjoy Adult Swim style humor.

Pasta walks!
BandSAboutMovies21 May 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Billionaire celebrity chef Alfredo Manicotti (Dana Snyder, the voice of Master Shake) has had his life ruined when one of the essential ingredients of pasta, gluten, is outlawed. He's shamed by the powers that be in the culinary world due to his use of an even more dangerous version of the ingredient and eventually goes all the way into transforming himself -- and his henchman Bob, who becomes Al Dente Bob (William Sanderson) -- into a horrifying human piece of pasta and sending his demonic hordes after everything flesh.

The only person that can save the world is his spoiled daughter Emma (Lauren Holt), who soon finds herself training with a team of post-apocalyptic -- sorry post-pastacolptic -- warriors like Chub (Lavell Crawford), Halfway (Jess Harnell) and Mary (Mary Spender). But can she get past being daddy's little girl and start kicking her dad's forces right in the fregola?

Also: You may watch the beginning of this and remark, "Ah, what cute animals. I bet my kids will like this." I would advise that unless your children enjoy seeing cute woodland creatures torn to pieces by Italian cuisine that has a ravenous appetite for blood, you should find something else for them to watch. Not every cartoon is for children. Consider this to be very much like a live action zombie movie except, well, with various shaped pastas taking the place of the walking dead.

Directed by Jason Schwartz (who did the animated series The Awesomes) and written by Matt Maiellaro (who has written for Aqua Teen Hunger Force), Pastacolypse moves fast, gets nice and bloody (saucey?) while never forgetting just how goofy of an idea it all is. For an animated movie streaming on a free platform, it looks great and even has some surprising moments of sheer gross out humor. I'd be all for another story in this same universe and I bet you will be too.

Great premise, weak execution
deshan-7858023 May 2023
Yikes, this was painfully underwhelming in a lot of areas. It may have some decent animation, voice-acting, some cool gore, and a wicked premise, but all of that were wasted on a below average flick that suffers from awkward pacing, underwhelming writing and overall plot, lack of a coherent direction, and bland unfunny humor & jokes. A damn shame because I really liked Aqua Teen Hunger Force (this movie is written by the same guy that wrote a lot of episodes for that show) and its quirky humor, but this was painfully bland at best. Somehow this 70 minute long movie feels 3x as long. Overall, better than some other Tubi Original movies, but sadly still far from being halfway decent.

Don't have high expectations
tqbwptfq24 June 2023
If you go into this movie expecting something meaningful, cohesive or high quality, you're failing yourself. I honestly expected the worst going into it, but surprisingly it's a very entertaining movie with a unique plot, funny/dry humor and questionable voice acting at times. From a critics point of view, I can see why people think this movie is bad or underwhelming. However, from my POV, I seen a low budget cartoon movie on Tubi, I knew what time it was. It's a very cheesy film but the weirdness of it all kept me hooked and I think it was well executed for what it was and very straight to the point.

I wasn't a huge fan of the ending in my opinion, it felt rushed, but I also wasn't expecting much to begin with. If you like to smoke and laugh at cheesy movies, this one is great. If you're into more serious films, avoid it all together.
