A disappointment!
zarinsubah-7792217 June 2022
Waited almost 2 years for Feluda, but it was a disappointment. Feluda, Jatayu and Topshe don't have the charm and somehow lack the chemistry. Overacting is at it's peak in all episodes. The cinematography wasn't even in a level and changed some plots without any good reason. Another film with Darjeeling background released last month, "The Eken" had much better cinematography and thriller. Overall, this series wasn't up to the mark.

Another hats off series
adonisatyaki3 November 2022
'Feluda Pherot' came during the Christmas & it's follow up series 'Feludar Goyendagiri' released on the day of Ganesh Chaturthi. Don't know whether the festive mood was somewhat responsible for this wholesome experience or the show itself stole my mind. This show is based on the storyline of 'Darjeeling Jamjamat'. Tota Roychoudhari was exactly perfect for the role Feluda - the icon of bengali culture. His appearance solely resembled the sketches of Satyajit Ray. Anirvan chakraborty was also quite relatable with jatayu. Better not to say about topshe's acting as he has very little to do in this matter. Veteran actor barun chanda is like a red wine in this series. Within his short screen sharing, he is able to make a memorable impact. Actor Rahul Banerjee also quite fits in the role of pulak ghosal. Unfortunately, there was no reference of any lady character like suchandra & I don't know what was the need for it. Feluda's thought of stabbing birupaksha majumder by different persona - herein the repetition of the same scene is a bit annoying.

But above all, the excellent cinematography serves as the asset of this web series. The beauty of kanchenjunga is well captivated within the camera frame. And lastly, the reference of Byomkesh Bakshi's 'Chitrachor' during the drop-scene is quite appreciable.

I want good old Srijit Da back
SoumikBanerjee199617 June 2022
It's been almost two years since I laid my eyes on a Feluda feature. Earlier it was with Chinnomostar Ovisaap, which by the way I adored despite others criticizing it heavily although this time around, I'm not that convinced, let's just say, I have had mixed reactions to it.

Whilst, I did cherish the chemistry in-between the three main protagonists (or Three Musketeers as Lalmohan Ganguly likes to call themselves); at the same time, I would have preferred if the writing was more productive.

It's a very simple story, a rudimentary narrative, so to speak; hence, and I'm sure all the people who will watch the show, amongst them, a vast majority will be Feluda fanatics and have already read the book. Therefore, at the end of the day, it all boils down to the execution (as we all are pretty much aware of the happenings) and how and in what way the director decides to adapt the original novel into a cinematic contour.

And I feel, that is precisely where Srijit Mukherjee has committed a few blunders. On one hand, he did manage to safeguard as well as maintain the conventional flavors of Feluda (by staying true to the source material) but on the other hand, he did miscalculate and took some erratic steps that just cannot be condoned.

Pretty good but not good
khanrubayrubaet17 June 2022
I love feluda series so much. This is absolutely what i am expecting. I liked both cinematography and video editing but the makeup was totally rubbish. D. J. Sen and topshe was spot on. I couldn't get the proper vibe of Feluda from Tota. At last but not the least dubbing was too bad. The lips wasn't matching, even some shots i didn't understand what Feluda is trying to say and what he said actually.

FELUDA AND JATAYU ROCK !!! WATCH IT !!
sanjubhat21 June 2022
We. Series review: Feludar Goendagiri ( Bengali webseries streaming on Hoichoi) #sanjuzzreviews #FeludarGoyendagiri #feluda #hoichoi After Feluda Pherot, Tota Roy Choudhary is back, essaying the role of the legendary Bengali sleuth Felu Mittar aka Feluda.

This series takes us to Darjeeling where Feluda, along with his trusted lieutenants , Topshe & Jatayu are on vacation. A movie on Jatayu's Rahasyo Romancha novel is also being shot at a Retd. Bank Manager's palatial bungalow. They decide to visit the sets where a brutal murder takes place. It is then up to a vacationing Feluda to don his detective's hat once again and unravel the mystery.

Tota Roy Choudhary blends into his character seamlessly. However it is Anirbhan Chakraborti as the bumbling crime writer Jatayu who is the best of the lot. His funny one-liners add comic relief to this otherwise serious whodunit.

Shot in a sepia tone, Director Srijit Mukherji has brought back nostalgic memories of the iconic hill station.

A clean web series without sex, blood, gore & dark undertones, this series is a must watch for my bong friends who have grown up reading feluda mysteries & also as a tribute to Feluda's creator, the legendary Satyajit Ray.

This 6 part series is easy on the eye with each episode having a runtime of around 20 mins.

Try and watch the first installment Feluda Pherot too with same star cast.

Go for it ... Enjoy 🙂

One of the finest feluda adaptations in recent years after Chhinyomawstar Obhishaap. From set design, to brilliant acting by everyone, from cinematography to editing, Bengalis can't miss it! Highly recommended...

Take a long break Srijit da
mailsoumik17 June 2022
I feel Srijit Mukherjee should take a break after 2 disaster outing in Kakababu and now Feluda. Directors are ruining the legendary stories like this and we are watching with so much of expectations around it.

Exciting to see Feluda in web series
anjumhaz2 July 2022
(Review of season 1, Darjeeling Jomjomat)

Feluda is evergreen in Bangla literature. Event though you know the original story, it's still thrilling enough to see all the versions made by different artists.

It's every director's dream to direct Feluda of their own. I have read Feluda, watched on big screen, where Feluda was played by Soumitra Chatterjee. Watched Feluda played by Sabyasachi Chakraborty. I have listened to Feluda in radio Mirchi with Sabyasachi's voice. All those versions stayed with me as classics. And when I saw Feluda is out in web series in Hoichoi, with Srijit's direction, I was so excited, because Feluda deserves web series.

The cast gave me a good feeling. Especially, Tota Roy Chowdhury as Feluda. I loved it. He aced in Feluda's personality from stunning yoga poses to lighting the Charminar.

About the background music, I was not fully satisfied. I was missing the music, the one played in the old movies to radio Mirchi's narration. Even though the new background music is good, it couldn't reach the classic height as the old one. I also like the theme song played by three of my favorite musicians, there too I was comparing it with the old classic music. It was good, but hard to love after hearing the old one.

The things that amazed me in this movie were the beautiful representation of Darjeeling, the stunning Kanchenjunga. And the chase after of cars in the mountain roads of Darjeeling, that was superb! It was dangerously beautiful.

If you are a Feluda lover, try this out. Try not to compare too much. Will appreciate more web series like this so the that time spent binging gets worthy!

Sepia Tone Jawmjawmat
sahil-masrur78617 June 2022
How could anyone kill the beauty of Darjeeling with so much sepia tone! Chhinomostar Obhishaap atleast had warm colour palette. Even Hoichoi's Shobdo Jobdo or Murder in the Hills had beautiful cinematography. But this?

Also Shaheb's fake beard was so fake looking. Atrocious. Tota looks good but still doesn't have what it takes to be Feluda. Forced comedy by Jatayu was done too much. Also had pacing issues in middle episodes. Srijit Mukherji couldn't create the ambience needed for this story. This might be one of the weakest work in the Feluda legacy along with Parambrata's Feluda and Bangladesh' take on Feluda.

The Feluda of my Dreams
suchetandrivestore18 June 2022
Where should i start from? Like many things are positive. And feluda has taken me to my childhood once again, where i would be out on a holiday. Normally i begin with discussing about the technical departments. Let this be no different. Cause they just excel like huge sixes.

The cinematography by Ramyadip Saha just goes on to mount the series to a whole different level with tactful application of exciting scenes, jumpcuts, or...most importantly, the whip pan shots which were heavenly. I won't be able to forget the heroic walk of feluda through the over bridge of, perhaps teesta. The second appreciation goes out to Sanglap Bhowmik for his outstanding editing. Especially the way the non linearity of the series is kept intact, yet diversified, yet quite engaging to a certain extent. The background score by Joy Sarkar, though felt like it was overused at certain points, turned out to be fruitful. The title track was a really beautiful one with surreal lyrics, but "taai ghawnaale awndhokaar" still hums in my ears somehow!

Coming to performances, Tota RC was much more flawless, lethal, easy going than before. He looked much much much more "shawrogawro" in the suits of PCM. And heroic walk, sharp dialogues, eye contacts, body language, physique, and ofcourse the accident scene (it was not), where feluda falls off the road against a push, that needed sheer fitness. With all these charismas, the man has already become the feluda of my dreams. Anirban Chakrabarti as Jatayu was so adorable that i felt at some points, "if he lived in real, i would have gone out on a vacation with him". Kalpan Mitra as Topshe aka Topesh Ranjan Mitra delivered a more matured performace throughout. In the supporting cast two people who mesmerized me apart from Subrat Dutta as Mahadev Verma were Mainak Banerjee as RB, and Suprabhat Das as Samiran Majumdar. Saheb Bhattacharya and Barun Chanda...donning the hats of the killer and the killed respectively, where the ones from whom my expectations were the highest, but sadly, to me, they did a quite decent job. Phalguni Chatterjee as Harinarayan Mukherjee was also a love to watch. Rahul Banerjee as Pulak Ghosal was simply an apt casting, loved his screen presence.

Niggles? There were a few handcounts of them. The starting of the series could have been just better; it's not like it's bad at all, but there remains scopes for improvements. Feluda's face reveal could have been done in a different manner i feel. And at a number of cases, the comedy was over-applied, which could have easily been cut down.

But finally, yes srijit mukherji has succeeded in creating sheer nostalgia with feluda which i write again, took me back, and many of us like me, to our childhood. A perfect time travel for two and a half hours and i advice, bangali can't miss this! And a last fanboy-ish wish, i still hope this was released at the theatres, it's way too cinematic to be just a webseries.

Can't be satisfied
susmoydebnath17 June 2022
Firstly, the theme song of feluda pherot was even better than this one.

I didn't like the overacting. Then there was some error in dialogue! Then the sepia tone was a wrose side. Overall, can't be satisfied.

One of the best Feluda's of post Satyajit era!!
aritrakghosh24 June 2022
Fabulous work!

After many days and several catastrophic failures by Sandip Ray (keeping aside the great Sabyasachi Chakraborty's Feluda portray of course) and few of his movies (like Bombaiyer Bombete and Baksha Rahashya), a Feluda direction that won my heart. Srijit's direction (that I often criticize) has improved by far in this season.

The well maintained pace, excellent title song, apt background music (which was not that good in the first season), periodic theme, cinematography, Anirban as Jatayu, and at last but not the least Tota's so much resemblance by look, with Feluda's portraits by the Great Satyajit Ray (I can let go of with his height, as that is fine with me) coupled with his intellectual look and ever-so apt acting, and much more.... makes it one of the best Feluda's after the works by the great Ray himself. I felt so nostalgic of my childhood readings of Feluda books, while watching the episodes.

It's true that Tota's dialog throw has to be little more bold. Otherwise, obvious comparisons will be drawn with his popular predecessors like Soumitra and Sabyasachi. He is a little too soft spoken, is what I felt. But that cannot take away any star from my ratings, unfortunately.

So, my message to the makers, "Keep up the good work!!" How about "London e Feluda" next time?? :)

Pathetic Direction and acting
barges-pianist-u22 June 2022
It's impossible to express the disappointment this series has been. I personally feel Srijit is one of most hyped director. He has no sense of creativity or direction.

For the role of Feluda, I don't know what Tota was doing, probably shooting cigarette adds. Anirban as Jatayu is again terrible, you cannot re-create Santosh Dutta just by looking like him. On hearing the News of murder, Jatayu is smiling with excitement (Satyajit Ray should be breaking his head).

Everything is terrible in the series. Only up to the mark is the starting theme with nice sketches and music.

Bottom line just pathetically terrible.

I liked it.
bhattacharyyasharmi27 June 2022
I liked it. Refreshing content. Acted very smoothly and efficiently. If anyone is comparing this with satyajit ray's creation or saumitra Chakraborty or sabyasachi's acting it might be foolish comparison. Because they are legend. No one can touch those lines.

Darjeeling "JAWMJAWMAT"
richikmukherjee18 June 2022
If your hatred for Srijit Mukherji who has produced craps like Chotushkone, Baishe Srabon, Jatishwar and Hemlock Society is boiling in your veins, step aside. Cuz my review is extremely positive. Returned a glimpse of my childhood. That textbook Felu, Topshe, Jatayu, that signature theme. Powerful acting by Tota, Anirban, Rahul, Barun Chandra, Suprabhat and the like, outstanding cinematography and loyal periodic text adaptation was a treat for me to watch. Recommended!

Srijit f*-c*-d it Warning: Spoilers
Srijit mukherjee f* c- d this legend story with his fake intellectual imagination, first of tota is totally unsuitable for feluda, neither his voice nor his his personality matched(jitu kamal was much more suitable for feluda, my personal opinion) and anirban is also not suitable as jatayu, jatayu was really innocent man but anirban tried to show Himself as innocent, which he is not.

I would request srijit please Don't f *c - these bengali legends with you blunt brain, better you concentrate on your own work which suits you better, leave it for anirban bhattacharya, i believe he would do better.

Feluda is Back
pippippipilika20 July 2022
Feluda is not just a name, Feluda is an emotion which only the fanatics can relate to. Over the years there were many movies on Feluda with some new twists here, some new additions to the story there, some parts omitted from the books, and terrible side casts. But Sabyasachi made the movies work. He was nowhere near the Feluda Satyajit Ray drew, but he was the Feluda he wrote. The charisma Soumitra and Sabyasachi brought to screen as Feluda is really hard to match and Tota had a huge responsibility to fill in the shoe. When i saw him as Feluda the first time, i was pleasantly surprised cause he does resemble young Sabyasachi and he has been in the previous Feluda movies. But then i saw Chinnomostar Obhishap and royally disappointed with his performance. It was so stoic and unemotional, his nervousness for the role showed throughout the series.

Then came Darjeeling Jomjomat. As someone mentioned in his/her review that the fanatics already know the story, so what matters most is the execution. Tota RC was more at ease this time around and i liked the Jatayu & Topshe. Some might find Jatayu overacting but no one can top Shaheb in that department. The guy who was Topshe once upon a time came back as a villain and delivered such a sub-par performance. I liked this Pulok Ghoshal better than the ones in Sandip Ray's movies. In the book, Jatayu mentions Pulok as chokra, some young guy. So this casting was better than those ancient Pulok Sandip Ray cast. The story telling through Sepia tone was a nice touch. And it was a straight story just like the book, no fantasy addition which Mr. Srijit likes to incorporate in most of his films and ruin them. So i am very surprised he managed to make something decent.

But this series wasn't without any faults. The worst thing was the theme song. It was like a cheerleading song for Feluda. It should have played only once in the first episode, not in all 6 of them. The background score when Feluda did find some clue or saying something intelligent, very annoying. The makeup for Tota RC in places were so heavy, especially in one shot when he was standing near a window and sunlight falling on his face, the make up looked like it was melting. The wigs used in the series looked so fake that u can say it's fake. Shaheb got the worst deal. Lip sync was below average, especially for the Police guy. Also Tota bro. And that shot with the leopard was so unnecessary, what can i say.

Yes, it's hard to match the personality of Soumitra and Sabyasachi as Feluda, but Tota RC has done a commendable job in this one which i can't say for Chinnomostar Obhishap. And this series was very straightforward which is something Srijit has never done before. As a Feluda fanatic, i would say a job well done. Could have been better? Maybe.

A dire disappointment and waste of time
kckaushikchatterjee21 June 2022
The whole thing was a pain in so many parts:

Technically given the short shrift on so many counts : Lack of continuity, constant camera shake, the tone which was just a tone and not an evolved time period capture, lack of details. Not everything can be attributed to budget. It could also be a case of taking the viewer for granted or worse still, thinking he is stupid and needs a bit of feeding as per house menu. The wigs were desparate with red tinges and all that. Some scenes were so redundantly repetitive may be just to make up for time in a serialisque fashion.

Actors like Barunbabu were brilliant but powerhouse performers like Rahul have been stemmed in the bud. Topshe was a disappointment. Jatayu was an epitome of mannerisms and overacting that came out too forced. The poor gentleman was struggling to play the role which the director wanted and left hanging on his recent well deserved laurels in other roles. Tota was good, sincere but the camera did a bad job of making him a dream Feluda.

Overall the negatives so outweigh the few pluses that it will be tiresome to mention all.

A perfect case of Brand Marketing with glossy package and poor content inside. Mr. Mukherjee is often disappointing now a days.

Grand ascension of the revered Sleuth
sayak_forever8 July 2022
For long Feluda was hiding behind the weak shoulders of old actors. This young chap is unabashed, unfaltered and a whipping return to form for Feluda. Strijit Mukherjee did not waste any time on fancy shots and dramatic takes. The focus was completely on the Detective and the chemistry of the three musketeers. The three have done complete justice to their characters. Afterall let us not forget, the source material is gold. Hope they can keep up this exceptional standard in their future endeavors.

The Perfect Feluda Ever
sagorikasinha13 October 2022
I've gone through some of the reviews here, and it seems like the expectation of every Feluda being Sabyasachi Chakroborty will ruin any new version for fans. It is understandable, and still, Tota Roy Chowdhury 's characterisation of Felu Babu is exactly like the books. It's as if one's imagination of Feluda from the books is brought to life. Lalmohan Babu and Topshe are brilliantly enacted as well. The direction, the cinematography, the background score, honestly, this is a dream come true.

Feluda was my childhood crush, before I found Sherlock. As such, I am harsh with judging productions featuring him. And still, I could find no flaws. To see Jatayu being cute and funny, yet so subtle, like a real human being instead of a caricature, was immensely refreshing. Topshe being the non-interfering but still relevant cousin, and every minor character essayed with utter perfection, the set locations being created to mimic Darjeeling a few decades ago, all of it just added to the brilliance of the series.

The most important part was that there were no frivolous additions. No morals of the production team's mind interfered with Satyajit Ray's writing in these episodes. I enjoyed every last minute of it and cannot wait for season 2.

P. S. - Crossed paths with Srijit Mukherjee, the director once at a studio. He was unfussy and offered his seat to my sister and me who were standing around cluelessly and went back to his phone.

Review of feludar goyendagiri
Sijidda has become a money making Machine A sheer disappointment .

The first part was really good A bit expectations would spoil the dish as the dish contains only air and whinching of yeasteryears nostalgia. Tota looks good as feluda .Too much of changes in dialogue and script paid off resulting a cringe plot.

What a disappointment
orko_dutta16 October 2022
Body language, dialogue delivery and presentation looked artificial - the naturalistic grace and poise was missing. Direction looked slow and mediocre. The thrill was missing. Acting of many characters looked forceful and amateurish.

Cinematography was OK but casting was a big issue. Tota Roychoudhury's style is not upto the mark to represent the smart sleuth's character. Many places over acting was evident.

Saheb's acting was like over-over acting. Natural comedy takes talent and he was nowhere near it.

May be lack of takent in the industry may be a factor - but the direction too has major flaws in execution. Pacing was way wrong.

Overall was not at all satishfactory - someone who is watching Feluda for the first time - will not able to watch it fully .

Not good, lacking in many aspects
kushal-25 July 2022
I shall not compare the casting with the original actors in Ray's own classics, but Tota Roy Chowdhury could not do justice to the character of Feluda. He is a good actor otherwise but somehow looked really out of place here. I could find traces of ideosyncracies of a character he played in a recent mega TV serial.

Lalmohan babu is not a buffoon, he is a foil to Feluda's alpha presence. But here the script rendered him into one.

The script was stretched to fit the 6 episodes.

There was hardly any thrill and build up of anticipation.

The director is a capable one.. I am surprised that he came out with this.

Feluda holds a very special place in our hearts, please do not do this to his adventures.
