It took a weekend to shoot the film.
Set in the haunting and unsettling woods of Chile, Invoking Yell is an ode to the found footage films of the 90s with a black metal twist.
Filmed at 29.97 fps to capture the video aesthetic of the 90s. Recorded with a Sony FS7 camera in 2K. Later in post-production, a combination of analog and digital techniques was used to achieve the retro look of a VHS tape.
The movie has minimal music; only in some moments, musical sounds were added to heighten the tension.
The film is inspired by the Norwegian metal band called Aghast and the crimes committed by the German NSBM band Absurd.
