This fifty-minute documentary features compelling and illuminating interviews with female partisans who participated in the resistance and survived the German invasion of Italy in the 1940's. Many of these women were regular housewives who felt obligated to do their part during wartime because of their sons, husbands, and brothers as well as because they were against fascism. Moreover, these women not only provided supplies and fought in battles, but also a sizable number of them were captured by the Nazis and subjected to brutal interrogations (a few were even killed). The harrowing stories these women share about their horrible experiences that they endured in prison camps are gut-wrenching to hear, but nonetheless one can't help but admire their exceptional strength and courage in the absolute worst of times. Moreover, it's both moving and inspiring when these women reveal that they have a greater appreciation for life and don't take freedom for granted as a direct result of their participation in the resistance. A very powerful film.
