If you like RomComs with a little more "adult"....
baccaruda11 February 2024
Warning: Spoilers
Came across this one on Tubi last night, and I'm glad that I found it. I think I would call this one more of a dramedy, because of some of the more adult situations in story, with laughs gently sprinkled throughout. I also thought that it portrayed men in relationships in a different way than I often have seen in the past. Instead of making the male lead a buffoon, the story presented him as a responsible, sane, and successful black veterinarian. I appreciate stories that show decency in men, in spite of some of the roadblocks that are thrown their way. Female lead was a little bit more complex, as she was shown to be a jumble of conflicting emotions. In addition, there are a couple of interesting subplots that add welcome wrinkles to the story. There are a few unavoidable indie imperfections, but I overall enjoyed this movie and I think that fans of more serious RomComs will enjoy too.

Love a good rom com

I enjoyed this indie rom com very much! There is something to be said for a film that you can turn on, not knowing what to expect, on a Saturday afternoon and just enjoy it. This was a really easy watch and I mean that in the best possible way. I am a sucker for a good rom com, and this did not disappoint. From the casting, to the camera work, to the story, it just felt very easy and fluid like a true rom com should, in my opinion. And that is an attributed to the cast and the filmmaker. Such a pleasant watch and I do recommend if you are looking for that type of film on that rainy Saturday. Bravo to all of those involved!

Lovely and touching

So glad I took a chance on this indie. It's a unique story that's well written and beautifully acted. I really enjoyed both of the lead performers.

Mandy is a therapist who gets invited to her much-dreaded high school reunion. She needs a date and ends up hiring someone to go with her. He happens to be hot, charming and a doctor. With any romance movie, you pretty much know where it's heading. But the journey to get there is heartfelt, touching and full of surprises - including one very big surprise I didn't see coming.

This is a charming, heartfelt little indie. Kudos to all of the people involved.

fresh indie romance
JoshSegel22 October 2022
A friend of mine caught this romantic comedy/drama on Tubi and recommended it to me, and I'm glad she did! I love character-driven and honest and open films, and this movie was right up my alley. Engaging performances and a grounded script kept me invested in these characters, and the sure-footed direction calibrated the tone and energy throughout and kept the story flowing. The way that the characters face both their internal conflicts and the ones between is all very authentic and relatable, which, to me, is the key to a film like this. If you're in the mood for a charming indie romance, you should definitely check this one out.

AboutFace Media outdid itself with this one. FATED REUNION is a must-watch!
cyruswebb5 February 2023
I have seen other productions from AboutFace Media, but this is by far my favorite.

FATED REUNION has a bit of it all: life lessons, love lessons, humor, social issues and facing consequences.

We meet Mandy Sanders, someone who has found success professionally but dealing with the past. When an opportunity comes to face some of those in that past she takes it, but decides not to do it alone. That leads to meeting Dante, someone is also doing well for himself. Helping out a friend initially he meets Mandy. Though it's not the welcome he was expecting it plants a seed that we see blossom as the film goes on.

Not to spoil it for anyone I'll say this: we see Mandy and Dante dealing with life, expectations and secrets that come up from the past. Will it bring them closer together or force them apart?

I honestly couldn't turn away from this movie, afraid I might miss something. It's just THAT GOOD. A great film that men and women can watch and enjoy---and maybe learn some lessons of our own.
