In the desert there were two nuclear batteries. When Jacq shoots Wallace with the flare gun, Wallace's companion leaves with the nuclear battery that spilled from the robot's bag with the contents they were looking through the previous evening. When Jacq talks with the 'clock master' robot, he hands him the battery that Jacq found at the crime scene where Wallace shot the self-repairing robot in the beginning and has been carrying with him ever since.
The incoming message from Conway to Vaucan says, "RETURN PILGRIM 7000 CAA B2-206 UNIT'S BIOKERNEL" but the biokernal that Vaucan had and gave to Dr. Dupre was for the unit that was shot, not 206 Unit that burned itself.

It is very strange Jacq did not see the ocean since he was a boy, as it is within a fuel tank's reach. The vehicles they use are powered by gasoline engines, and their range is few hundred miles with a full tank, supposing they have a full tank.
The setting is 2044AD. Jacq submits a report after visiting Doctor Dupre and the possible suppression of the 2nd protocol and receives a response from Vernon Conway with the time stamp "Transmitted Time: 04=23AM 06/06/25"
Dr. Durpre says that self repair implies that machines have a conscience. A better term would be consciousness, as self-repair indicates more of self-awareness of self versus of knowledge of right and wrong.
