Convoluted and in Need of Much Better Editing
icocleric11 October 2023
I found it boring, messy, and convoluted overall. Like sometimes it you're not paying full attention you might miss something important, but at the same time some of the scenes really drag out. It's definitely arthouse.

The cinematography looks fine, the acting is fine. I just feel the film could be better edited to get the story across in a less messy way. It manages to be 152 minutes long, so I feel there is a lot of room to trip parts down. I didn't really have any horror or real tension either.

It's a sssllloooowwww burn, and feels more like a character driven drama than a horror. Personally it wasn't for me, I can find arthouse hit or miss.

Slow paced, pointless and way too long...
paul_haakonsen28 January 2024
Stumbling upon this 2022 movie titled "The Man in Room 6" by random blind luck here in 2024, and seeing it was a horror movie, then of course I opted to sit down and watch it. Sure, I had never even heard about the movie prior to sitting down to watch it, so I didn't know what to expect.

So essentially, writer and director Trevor Juenger had every opportunity to entertain and thrill me with this 2022 horror movie.

However, the script and narrative in "The Man in Room 6" was slow paced, mundane and rather devoid of anything interesting, much less anything scary. So that made for a very, very bland viewing experience. And it was rather difficult to sit through this movie as it slowly went virtually nowhere throughout the course of the 152 minutes that the movie ran for.

Indeed, 152 minutes of excruciating boredom. No need to say that a much more round-handed trim in the editing room would have been beneficial to the movie. And I saw, here on IMDb, that the first cut of the movie was 210 minutes long. Oh dear God, that would have been even more brutal to suffer through.

Of the entire cast ensemble, then I was only familiar with actor Bill Oberst Jr., but it should be noted that they definitely had some good talents on the cast list. And I will admit that I do enjoy sitting down to watch a movie with unfamiliar talents on the cast list, so that was a plus for this movie.

If you, like me, enjoy a proper horror movie, do yourself a favor and skip on wasting 152 minutes on this dumpster fire of a movie. It just simply isn't worth the effort, time or money. Some of us literally suffered through this ordeal in greater or smaller extend, so you don't have to; you're very welcome.

My rating of writer and director Trevor Juenger's 2022 movie "The Man in Room 6" lands on a generous two out of ten stars.

A Breath of fresh air in the world of independent cinema.

This film was definitely a breath of fresh air in the independent film world. Great atmosphere and creepy story make this film a winner. The cast and crew were awesome too. Jackie Kelly was amazing playing the lead and Bill Jr. Oberst nailed it with his creepy performance. It was also amazing to see roles by veteran actors in this film like Eric Stanze, Jason Christ, and Debbie Rochon. Trevor Edward Juenger definitely got it right on making something very entertaining and original which is getting rare these days in independent films. Even the longer run time didn't stop me from watching the film from start to finish. It's free to watch on Tubi so check it out. Highly recommended folks.

Jackie Kelly with a Stellar Performance
janesig13 December 2022
Warning: Spoilers
"The Man in Room 6" is a truly unique and surrealist horror film that boasts a standout performance by Jackie Kelly. Kelly plays three distinct characters: Carrie, the mermaid, and Charlotte. As Carrie, Kelly goes through a transformation that is both mental and physical, making her death halfway through the film all the more shocking. But Kelly's portrayal of a resurrected Carrie, determined to continue her search for the old man, is equally captivating.

As the mermaid, Kelly has no dialogue, but her expressive performance captures the character's playfulness, deep remorse, and love through sacrifice in just a few minutes of screen time. Kelly's portrayal of Charlotte is equally impressive, as she shifts from an abusive wife to a psychopath, all while giving the impression that she is aware of her own descent into madness.

Overall, Kelly's chameleon-like performance is a highlight of the film, and it would be difficult to fully appreciate the protagonist character, Carrie, without her shape-shifting abilities. If you're a fan of independent horror or surrealist cinema, "The Man in Room 6" is definitely worth a watch.
