The 35th edition of the Clermont Ferrand International Short Film Festival will commemorate 100 years of Indian cinema with ‘Namaste India’, a sub – section that will screen 41 Indian shorts.
The sub-section that falls under Panorama section aims to offer “a broader historical and cultural overview of this giant country’s (India) film production.” For this festival has made a varied selection, keeping in mind the cultural and geographical diversity in the country. An inclusive list that includes works from film students to independent film makers on a variety of themes like the city, the country, native and religious communities, prostitution, theatre, tradition, borders, poverty, etc.
Out of these, five shorts will be part of a Retrospective of Umesh Kulkarni, who is also on the International Jury of the festival. His shorts: Darshan, Girni, Three of Us, Gaarud and Vilay will be screened at the festival.

Chandrayaan by Santhosh George Kulangara, Umma (Mother) by Vijayakrishnan, Parijayee by Indronil Banerjee, Abhiman by Debanik Kundu, Asob Prem Ebong …….by Arindam Dey, Jetuka Pator Dare (Enchanting, Challenging…the Life) by Jadumoni Dutta and Life! Camera Action (USA/India) by Rohit Gupta will screen in Cinema of the World section.
Sneha Yatre (Journey of Friendship) by J. Samson will be shown in the section for Children’s films.
The Indian short films to be screened at the festival are Shwet (White) by Kanchan Ghosh, Jantranar Dalil:Ritwik (Documenting Agony:Ritwik) by Debjani Halder, Disha (The Clue) by Jyotirmoy Ghosh and Knocking On Heaven’s Door by Sanjay Barnela.
Kaveri by Shilpa Munikempanna will be shown in the section for women filmmakers.

A Pestering Journey by K.R. manoj won the Best Long Documentary while There is Something in the Air by Iram Gufran won the Best Short Documentary at the 4th International Documentary and Short Film Festival of Kerala.

The 4th International Documentary and Short Film Festival of Kerala has announced the films in competition. These films have been selected out of the 625 entries the festival received.
The 2011 edition of the festival will take place from July 31-August 4, 2011 in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala.
The list of films in the International and the Non-competitive sections will be announced this week.
The festival is organised by the Kerala State Chalachitra Academy, for the Department of Cultural Affairs, Government of Kerala.
