- This is the story of a group of seniors who embark on a journey to learn how to read. Eight different lives that are brought together by the common desire to read, write, and see life with a new perspective.
- Can you imagine what your life would be like if you were illiterate? If not, meet Maria do Carmo, 70 years old, who just learned to read and write and who found the pleasures of reading in the books of poetry. Meet Gilda, 77 years old, who learned to read because she wanted to find out about her past and the mother who abandoned her right after her birth. Meet Luiza, 60 years old and eager to show you how she can now sign her name. A B See tells the story of 8 adult students in a seniors' literacy class with one thing in common: the desire to learn how to read and write in order to see the world through a different lens. This film will also discuss the challenges and humiliations that these individuals suffered before they were able to fend for themselves, like having to ask for help when catching a bus, signing documents with their fingerprint, or taking medication at the wrong times because they couldn't read the label. By presenting these stories filled with sadness, dreams and hope, the film will make the viewer reflect on the initial question: "Can you imagine what your life would be like if you were illiterate?"—Mariana Luiza
