- As those that fell below the yellow line in the penultimate weigh-in, Irene and Jay find out which of the two the American public has voted for to join sisters Hannah and Olivia as one of the final three contestants. Bob, Jillian, Cara and Brett provide their thoughts about their roles and their favorite moments from this year, which will be the last for Jillian. Jillian's replacement trainer for season 12 is introduced: ex-professional tennis player Anna Kournikova. The at-home contestants are introduced and Alison describes a little of their journey on the show and after leaving the ranch before they each weigh-in for the final time to see the winner of the $100,000 at-home prize. Alison introduces a segment on the on-going pound for pound challenge. - Grab your montage machine and a fist full of confetti, it's time for the live Biggest Loser season finale!
We open with Alison introducing the four finalists with video images of when they first arrived on campus. She then gives a quick rundown of a few season highlights: two extra trainers, trip to New Zealand, etc. She also mentions there is the possibility of a first-ever all-female finale three.
Cut to a montage of the contestants picking their trainers at the beginning of the season, followed by a quick look at the four remaining contestants.
The show officially begins with Alison explaining the storyline: One of the eliminated contestants will capture the at-home prize of $100,000, followed by the three finalists competing for $250,000 and the title of Biggest Loser.
First things first. We need to find out who will join sisters Olivia and Hannah for the final weigh-in. Alison brings out Jay, who looks good other than glasses he can't pull off. He shows us he's tattooed "what you're for strengthens you" on the inside of his left forearm where he had been writing his weight goals during the season. Irene is out next wearing a pink dress. She says she's broken through her walls.
Following a commercial break Alison reads the results of America's vote. Irene is the winner and she sends both backstage to prepare.
Alison next introduces all four of the trainers. We reminisce on Bob's huge jump in New Zealand. Brett talks about what it means to him to be able to change lives. Jillian, who is leaving the show, gets a standing ovation before saying she's excited for "new chapters."
The first three at-home contestants are brought out: Irene's mother Ana, Courtney and her mother Marci. Courtney is asked about the weight loss she had to undergo before even getting on the show. Marci says her club has starting a new "thin and healthy" initiative. Alison teases that we will meet Jillian's "superstar" replacement later in the show.
Ana (who was the first person eliminated this season) is first on the scale after he season montage. From a starting weight of 255 pounds she's down to 146, a difference of 109 pounds and 42.76. Next up is Courtney, who is down 110 pounds from her show starting weight of 323. That's isn't good enough to take over the lead from Ana. Marci needs to have lost more than 101 pounds from her starting weight of 230 to take the lead. She's down 86 pounds (to 152).
The next four are up. Dan (who looks shockingly good), his brother Don, and the husband and wife team of Q and Larialmy, who still look huge. Don talks about how the show has improved the relationship with his son. Dan has been working with an obesity program in his hometown of Oklahoma City.
Dan is on the scale first in the second group. He needs to have lost at least 123 pounds to take the lead. He does it by a nose, down 124 pounds to 163. He's ahead of Ana by less than one point. Don needs to have lost at least 134 pounds to take the lead from his brother. He comes up just short, down 130 to 179. To nobody's surprise Q and Larialmy do not threaten Dan. Q is down 93 pounds (to 344), while Larialmy has lost 84 pounds (to 217).
The next group has the father/daughter team of Moses and Kaylee and father/son team of Ken and Austin. At first glance none of the four seems ready to take the lead from Dan.
After the commercial Moses steps to the scale needing to have lost at least 191 pounds to take the lead. He's down 153 pounds (to 287). Kaylee needs to have lost at least 100 pounds to take the lead. She's down just 54 pounds (to 179). (So even with $100,000 on the line both she and her father have gained weight since leaving the ranch.) Ken has to have lost more than 162 pounds to take the lead. He's just short, having lost 158 pounds (to 219). Austin needs to have lost at least 172 pound to take the lead. And he does it, down 174 pounds (to 222). He tells Alison it's been "a long ride."
The next at-home group is made up of the mother-daughter team of Sarah and Deni (who looks quite thin), and the father-son team of Arthur and Jesse. Not surprisingly Arthur doesn't look like he's lost a ton of weight since leaving the show. Arthur references his daughter and for some reason Jesse can't stop screaming.
Sarah is first on the scale for this next group. She needs to have lost at least 115 pounds to take the lead. She's instead down 106 (to 155). Mother of eight Deni needs to have lost at least 113 pounds to take the lead from Austin. After giving a confident thumb's up to Austin we see that she was right, down 125 pounds (to 131). Deni gives credit to Cara and Brett. Arthur needs to have more than 248 pounds to take the lead. He's down 163 pounds (to 344). His father needs to have lost more than 143 pounds to take the lead. But Jesse is down 83 pounds (210).
The final at-home group features Jay and his daughter Jen, and Justin. Of the three Justin looks particularly fit. Rulon doesn't come out with Biggest Loser partner Justin and Alison makes no reference to the Olympic champion's absence.
Justin takes the scale needing to have lost at least more than 178 pounds to take the lead from Deni. He's just short, down 173 pounds (to 192). Jen needs to be down at least 136 pound to take over the lead. She's short as well, having lost 114 pounds (to 164). That means only Jay stands in the way of Deni winning the at-home prize. He needs to have lost more than 195 pounds. He too is shy, having lost 181 pounds (to 219). Deni covers her face with joy and her daughter Sarah rushes out to celebrate.
Still no mention of Rulon.
After the break we see Alison is joined on the stage by Irene. Alison then introduces Hannah, who talks about getting hit-on at the gym. Olivia is brought out next. She talks about her husband Ben, who has himself lost more than 110 pounds. Biggest on-campus loser gets to decide the order. She wants Hannah to go first, followed by herself and Olivia.
Alison next introduces the judge for next season, former tennis superstar Anna Kournikova. Anna tells Alison how excited she is to join the Biggest Loser family.
Up first among the three finalists is Hannah. After a montage showing her humorous side, Hannah weighs in at 128 pounds, meaning she's lost 120 pounds since starting on the show. It's is percentage of just 48 percent. Hannah is particularly excited about being in the 120s.
Irene is next. After her video montage Alison tells us she needs to have lost more than 123 pounds. As NBC screws up its music we see that Irene has come up short, down 116 pounds (to 139). One of the sisters will win.
Olivia is (thankfully) the final montage of the night. We see her journey through the season before Alison tells us after yet another commercial and some time-wasting chatter that Olivia needs to have lost at least 127 pounds. And she does by two! Olivia is down 129 pounds (to 132) and immediately raises her arms in the air. Confetti falls and the sisters embrace.
