Gabrielle Carteris will serve as president of SAG-aftra following Ken Howard’s passing last month. The union elected Carteris to assume the rest of Howard’s duties at the SAG-aftra national board meeting on April 9. “I am deeply honored to be chosen by the SAG-aftra National Board to serve the union and its members as president,” Carteris said in a statement. “Ken was a great union leader, friend and mentor. He left big shoes to fill, but with the support of the national board of directors and the membership, I am committed to improving the lives of all SAG-aftra members.” Carteris served as executive vice president of the union prior to undertaking her new role as president. She was elected at the inaugural SAG-aftra Convention in 2013 and reelected again in 2015. Carteris proved instrumental in merging SAG and AFTRA as part of the Group for One Union in 2012. The actor recently...

[1] Fake Criterion covers have become a pretty popular form of fan art as of late. Design-inclined cinephiles have fake-Criterioned everything from Orson Welles' Macbeth [2] to a French version of Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle [3] to Kickpuncher [4] (which is itself a fake movie), and it's no wonder why. Criterion DVDs often get the kind of cool, artsy covers you would never find on 'normal' DVDs, which usually opt for something more tame and immediately recognizable. The latest property to get the fake-Criterion treatment is the Harry Potter film series, which concludes this weekend with the release of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2. Cooper Union graduate Patrick Sullivan created this stunning collection for his student portfolio, and it saddens me to know they'll never actually be used. Flip through his cover collection after the jump. When all is said and done, it's safe to assume that there will be some ridiculously tricked-out special-edition box set of all eight 'Harry Potter' films. It will probably include a replica of the golden snitch or perhaps a copy of the Advanced Potions book that belonged to the Half-Blood Prince.
But until 'Deathly Hallows, Part 2' leaves theaters (which might end up being awhile -- more on that in a minute), all we can do is speculate on what the future DVD set will look like. Lucky for us, Patrick Sullivan, a student at Cooper Union, has graciously created Criterion Collection covers for each of the seven already released movies. (For all you non-movie nerds, Criterion Collection flicks are suped-up versions of special-edition DVDs.) Check out the Criterion image for the 'Sorcerer's Stone' below, and head to PotterCriterion Tumblr to see them all.
