Ilse Neubauer is reprising her role of Mrs. Stürtzlinger from Master Eder and His Pumuckl (1982). She is one of the last remaining actors from the original series. When appearing on the set she said "It is, as if you would travel back in time for 40 years and there you are standing again in the workshop."
While not based on specific stories by Ellis Kaut the first episode resembles various moments from the original show, including the way how Eder first sees that there is a goblin in the workshop, Pumuckl's love for plumbs, the girl who wants Pumuckl's bed, just like in the second episode of the original show, Eder tells about Pumuckl first time also in a pub. Also is stuck in a box, like in the episode where Pumuckl is stuck in the cellar. The New Years Eve party also resembles the episode of Mr. Bernbacher's birthday party, in which it was also discussed in Pumuckl exists.
While this is not the first Pumuckl sequel that involved the heritage of Franz Eder, the main character or the original show, this reboot is ignoring them as the previous reboots Pumuckls Abenteuer (1999) and Pumuckl und sein Zirkusabenteuer (2003) were not loved by the Pumuckl fans.
Maximilian Schafroth, the new voice actor of Pumuckl, appeared as a customer in the 13th episode.
The voice of Pumuckl was partly generated via AI voice cloning, mixing the dialogues spoken by Maximilian Schafroth with the voice of Hans Clarin, the original voice actor of Pumuckl, who died in 2005. It was done with the permission of Hans Clarin's estate.
