This short which inspired "The Contemptuous Ruby" full length version wrapped on August 25, 2010 in New Orleans on the five year anniversary of Hurricane Katrina. The full length feature with the same name, "The Contemptuous Ruby" full length feature is now in pre-production in Bodega Bay, CA 94923.
The short was shot on a Canon SD1100IS in a 44,000 sq. ft. warehouse across the road from NASA in New Orleans East. Some of the stills used in the short were shot in the French Quarter. The rest were provided by the lead actor who served in the Vietnam war. This short was shot during the 48 Hour Film Festival but, was not part of that festival. It was a major "hit" at the 2011 New Orleans Film Festival in the narrative short division. The full length feature version of the same name, "The Contemptuous Ruby" is now in pre-production in Bodega Bay, CA 94923 an will premier on Vimeo On Demand in November..
This was shot in a 44,000 sq. ft. warehouse New Orleans East on a Canon SD1100 pocket camera. It was lit only with a white rice paper Chinese lantern.
