The True Multiverse of Madness

WOW! I am 37 and how much I enjoyed this show. A better Stranger Things meets a better Doctor Strange Multiverse of Madness. Immensely crazy yet so warm. Definitely worthy of yours & your kids' time.

My favorite animated series (not anime) so far

A gorgeous, one of the best, fantastic animated series "Gravity Falls" with one of the largest fan bases in the world, especially in Russia. The characters are very memorable and written down to the very centimeter, a very charismatic antagonist, a high-quality picture, good humor, sustained drama, music, atmosphere... You can say a lot of different things about the emotions this story brought, but it's better to see the merits of Gravity Falls for yourself.

Many are waiting for season 3 and they are sorry that it will not be. But on the other hand, the story ended splendidly and there is no need for such a series to continue!

Best new Disney show!!

Gravity Falls is set in a town in the middle of nowhere, focusing on Dipper and Mabel, solving the mysteries of Gravity Falls.

One of the things that I find really amazing about this show is the music. It's great, eerie, and enhances the mood of the scene.

The characters are all great, and are all very likable and funny. The dynamics between Dipper and Mabel is one of the best parts of the show if you ask me. The way they interact with each other is the way you would think a brother and sister would act towards each other.

Animation wise, it is pretty well animated. The intro's animation is impressive but the actual show isn't as amazing but still good.

The show has a eerie atmosphere, but still has the heart of most of Disney shows.

So overall, The show is great. The characters, eerie atmosphere, and charm make it a enjoyable watch for kids and adults.

A captivating combination of comedy and mystery

Surprisingly funny.

This show is actually really good. It's not just some silly kids show that has vapid lowbrow jokes. Everything is thought out and has a purpose. It actually reminds me of the Disney show The Replacements but better. It has the same smart comedy style that is suitable for adults and children alike. I was initially surprised how clever this show is as the ads and synopsis don't really do it justice, but it is much better than you would expect.

Mabel is definitely my favourite character in the show. She's so hilarious and high spirited. I can't help but cringe and laugh every time she opens her mouth. The rest of the characters are fine but in my opinion Mabel is the comedic relief in a group of generic characters. But together they all work together to balance each other out so it works.

So I swear, give it a go as it is actually very funny.

A real cartoon needs a new season in a new city with a good mystery..

Gravity Falls' warm humour and lively performances transcend this children's cartoon to a spectacle for people of all ages. The cartoon continues to merge traditional storytelling with a contemporary sense of humour to create a unique viewing experience.

It Gets Better.

After episode one I wasn't so sure if I was going to enjoy it, but it did get good the more I watched. The last season was especially interesting. I was hooked from the mysteries of the journals, Grunkel Stan, and all the way down to the villain. It's interesting and unique. I enjoyed it very much and Dipper ended up being my favorite character in this series.

The humor is a mixed bag for me though. Sometimes it's funny and other times it feels like it's trying to be funny when it's cringe.

Very Good, But Overrated

I love gravity falls i really do, it had amazing animation, the comedy is great, the story is interesting (when it decides to exist), the main characters are all pretty enjoyable, and all the different scenarios the characters find themselves in are always engaging. Really enjoyable overall. But its not perfect.

The internet will have you beleive gravity falls is a masterclass of design with amazing mystery and storytelling and pacing with amazing characters and they'll say all this is true because Alex Hirsch wrote the story before actually making the show. And I agree this is commendable because writing a story as you go doesn't always work out. But the gravity falls story is lackluster. Its mysteries are interesting but the series doesn't handle them properly. To have a good mystery you need to set something up to build intrigue, hint at the mystery subtly as the show goes on, and then pay it off. But gravity falls will set something up, build intrigue, and then forget the mystery exists for like 10 episodes and sometimes a whole season just to suddenly pay it off at some point and you're just like "oh great I totally forgot that was even a thing but cool"

not to mention the horrible pacing. The story does exist but it only wants to exist 25% of the time. This is a short show, only 2 seasons, 40 episodes, to complete the entire story. And somehow they manage to put SO MUCH filler in this show. The first season has almost no plot to speak of, and when they actually get into the interesting stuff with season 2 they still cram filler episodes between important plot threads where it doesn't fit at all, just so dipper and his grunkle can play dungeons and dragons for a little bit.

Next id like to talk about the side characters. Theyre all somewhat enjoyable but theyre not characters theyre one note jokes that just hop around town doing nothing the whole show. Now this would be fine except for the fact that the impact of the finale hinges completely on you caring about these characters, and aside from the main 5 and maybe 1 or 2 others, I dont care about this town and its people. Since season 1 had barely any plot what they should have done is used some of those filler episodes to focus on all the side characters of the town, give each of the townsfolk one episode that just shows you who they are and makes you care about them. That way they feel like actual people, then the filler would be less offensive. Instead season 1 just has a bunch of episodes where the main cast goes around and does random stuff that doesn't effect anything, and for an episodic show that would be fine but for this short show built on its engaging plot its a problem.

Now there's 3 side characters i want to talk about specifically because they're absolutely horrible. First 2 are candy and grenda, mables friends that appear very often in the show. Theyre insufferable, they never made me laugh once, and even though they're in so many episodes they get no development whatsoever. Theres 2 episodes I can name where they try and develop these 2 characters but by the end of each whatever they were trying to do ultimately means nothing and they go back to being the same old characters again. Last is Gideon. The secondary antagonist to the show and the main antagonist for season 1. Hes egregious. Not as bad as candy and grenda but he's still really bad. His whole character is he's a little kid that everyone loves cuz he's cute, but he actually had a vendetta against Stan, so he does antagonistic things to steal his shack. Issue is I can never take him as a threat because the show never treats him as such. And even when he gets close to achieving his goal at a certain point I'm just left wondering why exactly I'm suddenly supposed to take this joke of a character seriously. And then after a certain point he basically dissappears from the show entirely leaving no impact, so he was essentially a plot device just so our main characters can get ahold of something important.

The last thing I'd like to talk about is the main villain Bill Cipher. He's a really enjoyable villain, he's only in 6 episodes of the show but I have no problem with that. Sometimes less is more, just like star vs the forces of evil. The main villain of that show is toffee and he's amazing, yet out of the 77 episodes of the show he only makes a physical appearance in 7. Bill is shown all over this show, his little hieroglyph is shown at the end of the theme song in every episode, and his mystery is the only mystery in this show that was handled well. The writers did something amazing with him by making him a very funny joke villain that is still a major threat. I tend to hate joke villains in shows because they're never actually threatening but Bill on the other hand is hilarious but scary at the same time. Its brilliant. Hes a very good villain but not "one of the best cartoon villains of all time" like some people will say. Going back to star vs the forces of evil for a second, I beleive toffee is a much better villain than Bill. Toffee had history, motives, and a major effect on the main characters through the entire show even well after his death. But Bill doesn't influence our main characters much at all until the finale. He shows up to mess with dipper and Mabel a few times before the ending but its always a one episode situation, the twins deal with him and he dissapears for a while, hardly ever even getting mentioned. And his motives/backstory is very unclear. He says he was from a 2D planet but wanted to break through to the third dimension or something, but he doesn't have much of a reason to do what he does. And don't get me wrong I love a good evil for the sake of evil all powerful God antagonist they can be really fun, but those types of villains are never revolutionary or leave a lasting impact because their characters are very shallow. Bill is just a generic evil deity that makes deals and wants nothing more than complete destruction of our world. So I dont understand why so many people think hes some revolutionary villain. Just because he has a fun personality doesn't mean he's an interesting villain in concept or execution. He's funny sure, enjoyable to watch sure, but he has nothing to him.

So overall I really do like gravity falls. If I didnt I wouldn't have given it 8 stars. Its a fun watch and I'd definitely reccomend it, but it has big issues with its narrative and I dont think for a second it deserves all the overwhelming praise it gets. Its a very good show, but its not revolutionary. Just because the story was planned out from the beginning doesn't make instantly amazing. Sometimes writing as you go can even have its benefits, so you can feel how the show works a little bit before fully committing to a single plot line. Maybe you see how your show is turning out and realize the story might work a little better if it goes in a slightly different direction than what you originally envisioned. Crafting a narrative is an art form and it doesnt always have to be crafted the same exact way. Let writers do what they want, if it works out great, if it doesn't thats a good learning experience for them. Go watch gravity falls if you want a fun comedy with a pretty interesting plot. But if you're big into storytelling like I am, I wouldn't expect something revolutionary in the narrative department, because that's not what gravity falls offers. It offers a compact story about a family trying to stop an all powerful being, thats way more focused on episodic adventures than the actual main storyline. Its a fun time.

Just west of weird

This series is a great animated show on Disney Channel that is funny, has dark imagery, likable characters, and pretty animation. For the people who like these kinds of shows will like it, also the show will take risks and have surprises that you will not expect when watching each episode of the two seasons.

Dipper and Mabel Pines are likable characters to follow throughout the series, they are both voiced well, and they have funny personalities. Dipper and Mabel Pines have a great brother sister relationship, they are funny, and they work very well together in every episode, especially when a lot of weird things happen to them, and they must get out of certain scenarios.

Grunkle Stan was a very funny character, since he is a con artist in a way making up things for exhibits at the Mystery Shack. He does a lot of things that are weird, funny, can do some subtle adult jokes, and has a lot of memorable lines. I like his relationship with Dipper and Mabel, and the other characters such as Wendy and Soos who are also funny characters who get involved in the weird scenarios they get into. Also, the entire show has side characters who are either part of the main story or not, who are strange, but also funny to watch.

Each episode has weird monsters/creatures or occasionally just it is just some weird person that leads to something big for the plot, and they look creepy, creative, or funny. There is a big threat in the show who is funny, creepy, memorable, and fun to watch which leads to a fantastic three-part finale for the series that is creative and fun, but also emotional in the end. The emotional moments are highly effective, and it works because you love these characters.

This show has a great mystery to it having you ask questions throughout the show, especially about these journals on the weird things in Gravity Falls by this author you find out later in the series. Dipper obsessed with these journals can be funny, but you can take him seriously on how hard he tries to solve these mysteries about these weird monsters/creatures in the woods or about hidden bunkers holding certain information he is looking for.

Gravity Falls (2012-2016) is a great animated show I recommend for the great mystery, great characters, and fantastic three-part finale that is very touching by the last episode of season two. Also, stay for the credits at the end of each episode for small funny scenes, and a jumbled message you can decode that connects to the episode that you watched.

Wonderful creativity

Twin siblings Dipper and Mabel Pines spend the summer at their uncle's tourist trap in the enigmatic town of Gravity Falls.

This is one disney xd's best shows I have watch back in my early teen years. Although, I do not remember much of it but it is definitely popular. There are even a lot of theories and questions that wonder about this after each episode.

If you like a good series which has adventures and mysterious I would recomand this show.

Also, if you want figure out some questions and theories further outside this show check out a YouTuber called Valiskiabum he talks about this show a lot.

8/10 because in the UK they took ages to get episodes aired (we had to wait 1 year after season 1 finished to get season 2)

Good "only second season animation".

The first season was completely filled with flat, banal humor akin to the "captain obvious", occasionally accompanied by stupid and absurd actions of the characters (during a quiet retreat from the danger to play a loud toy, seriously? No, seriously!?). Well, sometimes there were really interesting and worthwhile episodes. In the second season, there was less of such foolish things. The second season was much more ... adult. In terms of "acting" and behaviors. And it was much more interesting. After the second season, I understood why the series had such a rating and at the same time did not understand why it was all right to draw these almost useless snot / series in the first season by 20 eps. Well, in general. I agree with the rating and reviews about the series. It is very good and in some places touches on good topics, but only if viewed from the side of children. And I absolutely do not understand the fanaticism of this series by adults.

AMAZING SERIES

Gravity Falls is one of the very greatest animated series of this generation. I came into this show knowing absolutely nothing about it, not a clue in the world if i would make it past the first episode. And it immediately blew me away. The show starts off strong, and only gets better and better. Outstanding writing, amazing characters, and an equally amazing story. Definitely one of the most interesting shows I've ever seen, and definitely Disney's best show to date. Go and watch it, and you WONT be disappointed.

this is one of the great animation series of all time 8\10

So "Gravity Falls" isn't my favorite animation series but I won't pass on an opportunity to watch it again, although it ended too soon and I wished it would have continued for a bit more, I think it ended really well. we are talking here about one of disney's best animation series ever. a show that has a lot of emotion, humor and drama at once. I really enjoyed it. Grunkle Stan is such a great character, Dipper and Mabel Pines are just a terific double trouble. the show just feels so original and unique, the ending was really emotional and I haven't seen for a long time a fanbase of a series demanding another season so you can tell how good it is.

Definitely going down as one of the best cartoon series ever objectively

I've watched the first season's episodes over and over again when I still watched cartoons on TV, or watched TV in general. The only reason I didn't watch the second season's episodes is because at the time it didn't air yet. I finished the show today, watched both seasons and I must say I'm quite impressed with the quality. Every frame feels like someone put their heart and soul into it, and where other cartoons have many episodes in their wonderfully crafted worlds, Gravity Falls has less episodes but makes up for the lack of more episodes with the animation-, sound, world- and character designs. I put this show up there with the likes of Avatar The Last Airbender, which I feel to be one of the best in animation, or at least Western animation.

One of the best animated shows ever!

Gravity Falls was something I heard about for a long time, but it was a Disney Show, so that automatically made me skeptical, but this show is amazing. It's a kids show, that I (a 24 year old man) can sit down and enjoy with my 10 year old sister, and will leave us both laughing.

Plot: 7/10 -Kinda clichéd, but still very enjoyable. Two kids move to a backwater town where the strange and unexplained happen on a daily basis, and go about solving strange events and mysteries. -There are lots of little Easter Eggs in every episode if you pay attention, which adds to the charm. -The end result is a show with unique and weird story lines and a level of humour that does what many of the 90's shows did best, transcend its target audience. This show produces jokes that will work for both kids and adults.

Characters: 11/10 Wow, this is the high point of the show. All the characters are lovable, well developed and unique yet all relatable. Half of the dialogue is hilarious, and half of it will tug on your heart strings. The show exemplifies the fact that no matter what age you are, no matter who you are, life is strange, and awkward, and you should just be yourself.

Animation: 8/10 The shows animation sometimes seems clunky, but at the same time, fits really well. There are some scenes that I genuinely though were disturbing/nightmare-worthy, but my 10 year old sister loved. Some of the stock-motion/3D could have been much better though.

Music/Audio: 10/10 The music is great, especially the opening theme. The show even has some very famous voice actors, from John DiMaggio to Nathan Fillion.

Overall Enjoyment: 9/10 One of the best cartoons I've ever seen, and definitely the best Disney cartoon. I binged-watched both seasons in a week, and recommend it for all ages!

A Mysterious and Whimsical Adventure

Gravity Falls, created by Alex Hirsch, is a charming and imaginative animated series that weaves a tapestry of mystery, humor, and heartwarming moments. Bursting with creativity and brimming with lovable characters, this show manages to captivate audiences of all ages with its clever storytelling and intricate world-building.

One of Gravity Falls' greatest strengths lies in its engrossing narrative. The series follows the summer adventures of twins Dipper and Mabel Pines as they spend time with their eccentric great-uncle Stan in the quirky town of Gravity Falls. Each episode unravels a new supernatural mystery, unveiling secrets hidden beneath the surface of this seemingly ordinary town. The show's overarching storyline, intricately woven with a web of clues and foreshadowing, keeps viewers eagerly anticipating each new revelation.

The characters in Gravity Falls are a delightful ensemble, each with their own quirks and complexities. Dipper, the curious and analytical brother, provides a relatable and endearing perspective on the strange occurrences in Gravity Falls. Mabel, his free-spirited and optimistic sister, brings a sense of whimsy and light-heartedness to the series. The supporting cast, including the enigmatic Bill Cipher, the lovable Grunkle Stan, and the lovably awkward Soos, add depth and variety to the show's dynamics.

Gravity Falls excels in its ability to seamlessly blend humor and heart. The series deftly balances laugh-out-loud comedic moments with genuine emotional depth, allowing viewers to form strong connections with the characters and their personal journeys. The exploration of themes such as friendship, family, and growing up adds layers of depth to the narrative, making it resonate with audiences on a profound level.

The animation in Gravity Falls is visually appealing, with its distinctive art style and attention to detail. The lush backgrounds and imaginative creature designs bring the town of Gravity Falls to life, immersing viewers in a world of wonder and enchantment. The animation also effectively enhances comedic timing and action sequences, contributing to the overall entertainment value of the show.

Gravity Falls is also known for its clever references and hidden Easter eggs, which add an extra layer of enjoyment for attentive viewers. From subtle nods to popular culture to intricate codes and puzzles, the series rewards its dedicated fans with a sense of discovery and engagement.

While Gravity Falls consistently delivers an engaging and entertaining experience, some viewers may find the episodic format to be slightly repetitive, with certain plot structures becoming familiar over time. However, the overarching narrative and character development more than make up for this minor flaw.

In conclusion, Gravity Falls is a must-watch animated series that embraces the spirit of adventure and mystery. With its captivating storytelling, endearing characters, and memorable world-building, the show offers a whimsical and immersive viewing experience. Although it may have occasional predictable elements, the series compensates with its clever humor, heartfelt moments, and intriguing plot. Gravity Falls is a delightful journey into the unknown, leaving viewers eagerly unraveling its mysteries and yearning for more.

This show was my early childhood

I was around 6 when this show started, and around 9 when it ended. I watched every episode either the day it came out, or the day after, and I loved every episode. This show is possibly the best show I've ever watched. It is very Twin peaks-esque, and some kids might not understand it if they're under ~6, and it might frighten most kids. I remember watching the first episode of season 2, and having nightmares of it. Overall, the show is great, and holds up very well.

Too much Hype

I was surprised that the score was as low as it was, but then I started reading the negative reviews, and I found myself nodding my head in agreement.

Simply put, this show probably has too much hype.

It's a good show. It is fun, friendly, silly, and an amazing kids show that, as a show, discusses some interesting things.

But it also has incredibly shallow characters, and a lot of the 'plot' is driven through things that aren't necessarily relevant to the average viewer. They had this whole mystery thing tied into a PR/marketing scheme that was incredibly clever.

It also has nothing to do with a viewer that hasn't seen the show. The gimmicks and the mystery stuff are still there, but they are no longer 'live' so they are definitely flat. This is a show that really demonstrates the power of an interactive audience experience, and also it's weakness. I understand that one of the best parts of this show was going online and 'sharing ideas' about the show, I believe the online community was really vibrant in it's heyday.

The show was originally going to be three seasons, but someone (Alex I assume) panicked and rushed to finish it in two. I believe this did little to give the characters room to grow and mature.

I started with a 9/10, and then moved it to 8/10, and then 7/10. I'd probably prefer a 7.5, but I really don't like the idea of dealing with a hundred star system.

Super-good

The series turned out to be funny. The characters were interesting to watch, and the plot that began in season 2 was pleasantly surprised. After all, you don't expect something like this from a children's cartoon.

Everyone has probably watched it, so I'm writing this more for myself.

It is strange that in an era when everyone is making sequels /remakes of old works, the ubiquitous Disney did not reach such a valuable asset in its reserves.

At least spin-offs could be released. Anyway, the author is not busy with anything big, although he may still please fans in the future, if not with a sequel, then with something new.

An Adventurous show worthy of more seasons

Gravity Falls is an animated TV series that follows the adventures of twin siblings Dipper and Mabel Pines as they spend the summer with their great-uncle, "Grunkle" Stan, in the mysterious town of Gravity Falls, Oregon. The show blends humor, mystery, and supernatural elements to create a unique and entertaining experience.

One of the show's strengths is its attention to detail and world-building. The town of Gravity Falls is full of strange creatures, cryptic symbols, and hidden secrets, which the twins set out to uncover. Each episode introduces new mysteries and clues, and the overarching plot becomes increasingly complex as the series progresses.

The characters are also a highlight of the show. Dipper and Mabel are relatable and likable protagonists, and their interactions with the various residents of Gravity Falls are often hilarious. Grunkle Stan, in particular, is a standout character, with his gruff exterior and hidden depths.

The animation in Gravity Falls is top-notch, with vibrant colors, detailed backgrounds, and fluid movement. The show's music, composed by Brad Breeck, is also excellent, adding to the show's whimsical and mysterious tone.

Overall, Gravity Falls is a fantastic animated series that will appeal to viewers of all ages. Its clever writing, engaging characters, and sense of adventure make it a must-watch for anyone who loves animated shows with a sense of humor and heart.

The Last Best of the Last Best

If you like liminalism, adventure, mystery, Ben 10, this is for you. I thought it had 3 seasons. Turns out it had only 2, and even the second one wasn't on Disney+. That sucked, 'cause it was getting really interesting. Like how it doesn't get too cartoon network-y. And well, it's 2d. Thank you Twin Peaks.

I think one ought to watch Secret Saturdays after this, and not Stargirl or Steven Universe. 'Cause it ain't the same. They're the same type of animation yes, but don't really match. Steven Universe seems like a lucid dream. Stargirl...was a good attempt at best. I'd say go for Twin Peaks or something else. Somwthing that pre dates GF.

Awesome stuff. Pterodactyls rock! Bill is watching.

great show, but not my favourit

Before i start, let me make this perfectly clear, i dont hate this show, i simply like other things better, but first let's start with the positives, the story is incredibly intruiging and suspensful with a very compelling mystery, the comedy is really sharp, and the animation is absolutely beautiful, the voice acting is also incredible, the charecters are quite likable, and the villains are the kind of villains you love to hate, the reason it's not one of my personal favourits is that personally i prefer shows with less story, based progression, and are more episodic, in addition to that the popularity of this show causes it to overshadow other great disney cartoons, but overall i still like this show, just not as much as everyone else.

Misleading silliness

Gravity Falls had everything to run for many seasons to eventually become a new household name in the world of animated tv-series : relatable protagonists of the age of the target auidence, a lot of interesting and different characters and a setting suitable for creation of uncountable peculiar situations. Eventually we didn't just get a bunch of discrete episodes without any direction - we got a coheseve story that retained a clear memory of previous episodes, where the end goal reveals itself closer to the final episodes, thus the characters and the world feel unexpectedly alive as for a kids show.

Is Gravity Falls the funniest show out there? Definitely not. Is it one of the most universal ones in terms of humor? Definitely yes. You can sit in one room a 10 year old, a 20 year old and a 40 year old and all three will find for themselves something to laugh at. It really feels as though the jokes were written by three completely different persons - a really complex and refined joke can be followed by the most corny, childish and primitive one.

The best thing about Gravity Falls is the fact it gets better and better with each episode. In the beginning it really looks like another generic cartoon for kids without any deepness or additional weight of sense attached to it but as the episodes go by more and more pieces of the puzzle come together and create a much more sophisticated picture. Especially I would like to praize the final episodes - they were such a perfect combination of drama, action and comedy spiced up with weirdness and a little touch of darkness that they easily could be shown in theaters as one whole full-length movie (I won't be surprised if the authors of these episodes were getting their inspiration from anime as some sequences looked as epic and thrilling as some of the most classic anime scenes in history).

So overall we got a near-masterpiece kind of animated series watching which won't bore neither the parents nor their kids.
