- At the last weigh-in, the contestants in combination didn't meet the weight-loss target, meaning that they had to vote one contestant off the ranch, that being Marci. The remaining contestants learn that they will be split into four teams, each team under a different trainer: Bob's blue team, Jillian's black team, Cara's green team and Brett's red team. The teams are chosen by lot. With eleven contestants, there will be three contestants per team with one team consisting of only two players, or... The two contestant team learn that they will have the opportunity to choose any eliminated contestant to bring back to fill that team's complement of three. For their first workout, Bob takes the blue to his spin class at Crunch Gym. Jillian takes the black team to her Malibu beach house to work out on the beach. Brett takes the red team on a mountaintop hike to get them back to a zen mentality about their journey. And Cara takes the green team to the Trinity Boxing Club. The team challenge has each team holding onto the amount of weight they have lost for as long as possible, with the winning team receiving video chats with loved ones. The contestants learn that the members of the team losing the weigh-in will not vote to send one of their team members home, but rather members of the other teams will vote which of the two contestants up for elimination will be leaving the ranch. The weigh-in and vote are emotional, especially as one contestant's plan did not come to fruition.—Huggo
- This week, one eliminated contestant returns and the remaining players are split into four teams - red, blue, green and black. Each team will be led by one of the four trainers - Bob Harper, Jillian Michaels, Cara Catronuova and Brett Hoebel. While Bob takes his team to spin class and Jillian takes hers to work out at the beach, Brett leads his group on a hike and Cara heads to a boxing ring and has one of her players fight against a longtime boxer. Later, the four teams square off in a difficult challenge involving ropes and weights, and then gameplay at the weigh-in doesn't turn out the way one contestant expects, and another player is sent home.—NBC Publicity
- Open with Alison telling us the eleven remaining contestants will be split into four teams, one for each trainer. They will pull dumbbells out of a rack, each with a team color on the bottom: Black for Jillian, Blue for Bob, Red for Brett and Green for Cara.
Justin's up first and he draws Brett. Jen is next and also gets Brett. Moses draws Bob. Austin draws Cara. Irene gets Bob, Rulon gets Jillian and Olivia gets Bob, filling out the Blue team. Already in tears because she won't get Bob or be with her sister, Hannah draws Jillian. Ken draws Cara and joins his son. Courtney draws Brett, filling-out the Red team. The last to pick is Kaylee, who draws Cara, Austin and Ken.
This means Black team has only two players. Alison then tells us that (Gasp!) a player will be added from those already eliminated. Jillian, Black's trainer, Rulon and Hannah will decide who comes back. Hannah suggests Arthur, but Rulon doesn't seem to agree. Jay also comes up, though the fear is that he has the potential to win the whole show.
Bob brings his Blue team to the gym where he used to train and has them take a spin class. Moses is having a lot trouble.
Jillian invites Rulon and Hannah to her beach house. She starts with plyometrics in the backyard and moves to crawling on the beach. She sends Hannah off on a run and talks with Rulon about his eating. He blames feeling like he wasn't worthy of true love for a lot of his problems.
Brett's off-the-ranch trip for Red trip is to some hills for a run. Courtney and Jen talk about their progress to this point. Justin says he is grounded in who he is as a person.
Cara has the Green team work with free weights. Of course I'm kidding, the Green team was in the boxing gym.
Alison meets the gang for this week's reward challenge. Before getting started she brings out Black team's third member, Jay. He's back after five weeks and needless to say Jen is over the moon. Jay has immunity this week and his weights won't count for the weigh-in. This week's challenge is to hold onto to the weight you've lost for as long as possible. As soon as is it dropped into a container of water you are out. The winning team gets a video chat with family.
The challenge starts getting tougher at about the 20 minute mark. Green team is the first team eliminated, just shy of the half hour mark. Rulon has old wrestling injuries that limit his shoulder and they are the next to drop. At the 45 minute mark both the Red and Blue teams have their weight inches above the water. Alison tells them they must pick an arm. Justin lost his focus and lost his grip. Moses drops next and Blue loses its weight a second later. Red is the winner. But Red decides to give up its rewards to Blue, thinking Moses, Olivia and Irene will want it more.
We watch Blue's video chat. Olivia tells her husband she thinks she's hit a wall. Moses talks to his wife and daughter and tells them he's not sure if he still needs to be there. His wife points out that he's not a quitter.
Last Chance workout time: Red is super-confident that they are a force. Green looks like it had a tough workout, as does Black. Rulon went against Jillian and Bob in a tug-of-war and held his own quite nicely. Kaylee tells us she had "a moment" this week, saying that she thinks she's found her confidence. She thinks she has to tools to succeed in life and has no concerns with leaving the ranch.
It's time for the weigh-in. The team with the lowest percentage of weight loss will up for elimination, with the rest of the teams casting the votes. But the biggest loser on the losing team is immune.
Up first is the Black team. Just for information purposes the immune Jay gets on the scale and is at 282, down seven from the start of the week. Hannah has lost four pounds, now down to 172. Rulon is down five pounds (to 330). He's stunned. Black team's percentage is 1.76.
Blue team is up next and must have lost at least 12 pounds to beat Black and avoid elimination. Moses is down only three pounds (to 300) and Irene has lost five pounds (to 173). Olivia needs four pounds for the Blue team to finish ahead of the Black team. She does it by a pound, coming in with a five (to 180). Blue is safe.
We start the Red team with Jen who has lost four pounds (to 187). At this point Alison says that Courtney and Justin each need to have lost more than three pounds for Red to be safe. Courtney loses three pound (to 234) and Courtney mentions that this means she's lost more than 200 pounds she began her "weight-loss journey." Justin needs to have lost at least five pounds for Red to be safe. He comes up short, however, losing just two pounds (to 247). The Black team is now safe.
Green team needs to have lost ten pounds to beat the Red team and be safe. Kaylee has not lost any weight this week, staying right at 174. She says that number reflects that "my journey here is done" and says she's gotten what she needed from the ranch. Austin is down three pounds (to 272) and Courtney tells us she's feeling good for the Red team. Ken must have lost seven pounds to make Green safe (and spoil Kaylee's speech). And he hits it right on the nose, dropping down to 263 and putting Red on the chopping block. Both Kaylee and Ken are upset.
After the commercial Brett yells at the Green team for game-playing. Ken starts to say that there is no other way for anyone to go home and Alison interjects, pointing out there is nothing keeping anyone on the show. She then tells Kaylee she's allowed to leave the show whenever she wants, but that it won't impact the vote sending a member of the Red team home. Moses then asks if he can talk to Kaylee. He takes her aside and says her family and teammates need her to stay. Kaylee says she'll stay. An almost irritated Alison makes a point to commend Ken on his weight loss. Courtney is mad about what has happened, though it's not clear exactly why. Jen is safe tonight, meaning either Justin or Courtney will be going home.
Back in the ranch Justin says he's a changed man and doesn't need to be there as much as Courtney does.
The vote starts with a weepy Kaylee, who votes for Justin. Rulon can't send his friend home and casts his vote for Courtney. Olivia says she's respecting Justin's wishes and votes for him. Moses votes for Justin, as does a very emotional Austin. Ken's vote for Justin makes five, enough to send Justin home.
In the at-home vignette we see Justin is down 22 more pounds since leaving the show. He's now running his own early-morning training class, complete with "Justin's Call Out" t-shirt.
