The Return of Sarah's Dad
LoveIsAStateOfMind29 December 2015
Warning: Spoilers
Vivian Volkoff is this season's Shaw 2.0. We need more stand-alone episodes like this one.

I loved all the Sarah flashbacks. No need to go into them all individually but I think they did a good job of showing the relationship between Sarah and her father and explaining why she is the way she is. I loved the relationship with her father in real time too. I always approve of getting more Sarah backstory.

Sarah's Dad / Awesome <3 <3 <3 <3. Okay, I have to say that Awesome/Clara is SO CUTE.

OMG THE WHOLE FAKING OF THE FLASH THING! The faces! LMAO!!!!! The Super Shuttle scene! LOL! The way the CIA strike team mobilise.

General Beckman! So awesome! They need to give her legs again.

OMG CHUCK'S MIX CDS!!!!!! The whole fake wedding thing was a cool idea. "Cop Face" - Casey the security guard again! Hee.

So excited at the Casey/Kathleen. I've actually been looking forward to this moment the whole season. I kind of thought she took it rather well though. I would have been freaking out! Anyway, I love their whole story arc in general. It's hard to think of Casey as having a love interest ..... apart from in this situation.

I absolutely love seeing Sarah like this. The last scene <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3.

Is it wrong that I am legitimately annoyed that Chuck and Sarah didn't get their money back from the "wedding planner" though?! I mean I know for the story to work, they had to get the money from her father but honestly the injustice of it all! They are the freaking CIA!!!

Another Amazing Episode!

Wow, yet another incredible episode! 😲 This series just continues to get better and better!

I loved seeing Sarah's dad again. He's a great actor! He plays this part so well.

And it's getting so close to Chuck and Sarah's.wedding. They are great together. Wonderful characters and fantastic actors!

Enjoyed the entire theme of this episode, but really wanted them to catch the corrupt wedding planner.

I cannot believe I've never seen this series before.

Also, sarahm17 and her negative reviews is ridiculous. Amazing episode, yet again!!

In addition, I like where they're going with Ellie now!! Eeeeeeeek.

All over the place, but...

Another "off the reservation" episode but, not unlike "Chuck Versus Phase Three", it somehow manages to work. Interestingly, Gary Cole, who plays Sarah's con man father, adds some much needed grounding to this series and especially this season.

In a parallel story arc to Chuck and Ellie's parents, he's an absentee father who does his best to love and help his daughter grow and face the challenges of this world. And the final scene really drives that point home. Not really a great episode, but better than a lot of the truly lousy episodes of season 4.

Finally a decent episode
sarahm1721 June 2023
There's been so many since I've enjoyed an episode in this season. Since episode 13 to be exact. There's only been 5 episodes I've liked this whole season. This one was good. I like Sarah's dad and the end was wholesome and emotional. He brought something that was needed. He grounded it and brought some emotion. I like learning how Sarah is the way she is and her backstory with her dad is always good. He made this better. Something Chuck could learn from. I felt more emotion from the ending in this than his reaction when his dad died. Which is not good.

However there's only 3 episodes left and i thought we would've seen more of Vivian Volkoff. I like the actress. She always does a good job. Not that this storyline is my favourite. I just thought they made her "bad" all of a sudden and I get why. At least that makes sense. She's taking over her dads "business" I just thought we would've seen more of it. I think this is one of the shows problems. They give us these "bad guys" then hardly show them, then they're taken down within a few episodes with fillers inbetween. Usually it's quicker than this though but I like that this show doesn't drag it on. With the exception of this season. I just would've liked to see more from their side and what it is they're actually doing or want and I think Vivian's relationship with her dad could've been interesting but they've interacted for a minute. I hope it's not wrapped up too quickly and rushed. I would've liked more of that arc because we haven't seen her plan or what it is any of them want.

I'm glad this season is coming to an end. It's a shame it only picks up now as there's only a handful of episodes 5-6 that are actually decent this season. Not a single enjoyable filler episode. I think maybe it should've been a shorter season because of that. If it's gonna be long at least make it good. I get that it's all about Chuck and Ellie's mother, Alex and Vivian Volkoff but it could've been better and shorter if that's the main plotline as the fillers were not even decent. Cutting the side stuff out would've made it a stronger season. They don't really dive into Mary leaving them. Everything just seems forgiven straight away and they connect instantly. Which I find odd and a little unrealistic but again what is about this show.
