Goofs

Turbo

Edit

Continuity

During the race before the wreck occurs, Car 40 and Car 41 are blocking Gagné. But between shots. Car 41 changes to Car 42 and changes back to Car 41 during the pile up. While Car 40 changes into Car 3 but some debris from the car is seen in the wreckage.

Factual errors

During the race, Gagné is shown blocking Turbo by weaving left and right so Turbo can't get around him. In the Indy league, as well as most professional and amateur racing sanctioning bodies, this is considered illegal and Gagné would've been black-flagged and brought in to the pits for a penalty. You are allowed one lateral move and that's it, a 2nd move is considered "blocking" and is illegal.
When Theo (Turbo) got sucked into the engine of the Camaro during the street race, he would have ended up above an engine piston, inside the combustion chamber, not below the pistons as depicted. When nitrous was activated, it should have also gone into the combustion chamber, not into the crankcase, below the pistons.
All snails except Pomacea canaliculata are hermaphodites and do not have separate genders.
A deep crack in a snail's shell like the one that Turbo suffers cannot heal on its own, and requires a lot more than a bandage to repair: the exposed cavity must be thoroughly cleaned and disinfected, and the breach, carefully sealed with gauze, plaster of Paris, and nail-varnish. Bringing Turbo to a race before confirming his shell was restored was also extremely dangerous, as snails' exposed bodies are extremely vulnerable to desiccation, infection, or exposure to air pollutants.

Incorrectly regarded as goofs

At the end of the movie, when Turbo's shell is cracked, it is shown to be hollow and empty inside. Real snail shells are not hollow; they are loaded with internal organs. However, this may have been done to avoid the revealing of gore.
During qualifying for the Indy 500, everyone references the driver's speed. Drivers qualify based on shortest lap time, not speed. However, average lap speed is calculated as a reference point so fans can have a common reference point.
The racing extravaganza is called the Indianapolis 500 (or, for short, Indy 500). However, when Turbo wins, Chet quotes it as "Indy 5,000". It's likely that because Chet never wanted Turbo to race in the first place, he wouldn't have taken the time to know the correct name of the race, and therefore, exaggerated its name.

Revealing mistakes

When Turbo gets on the front wheel he makes the 3 wheeler go forward, but it shows the 3 wheeler going in reverse.

Anachronisms

Despite Tito's Latin American origin and his frequent use of Spanish, he still pronounces his brother's name - Angelo - like an English speaker would.
