State of the Unity is an award-winning documentary that asks a simple question, is unity possible? In 2016, during one of the most polarizing elections in American history Brooklyn-based husband-wife band The Bergamot (Jillian Speece and Nathaniel Hoff) hit the road with the goal of performing music in all 50 states while inviting everyone to sign their message of unity on The Unity Car. What ensued over the next eight months is a heartwarming tale of human perseverance, empathy and understanding. During the 50 state tour the duo met thousands of Americans. At each stop they performed music and invited the curious to sign their message of unity on The Unity Car.It was in this daily practice of listening to one another that they realized how powerful music, community and collaboration are in creating positive social impact.
