- The hero Knight Hawk talks about how Hitler in a cybernetic body was starting World War III. Then Marvelous Man arrived from space and used his super powers to put an end to the war. Throughout the decades he fought evil, primarily on the US's side, until he swore a vow to the UN to stay out of world politics. When a ship from his home planet came to Earth containing fragment of his home planet, the ray from the fragment--Caltronite--weakened Marvelous Man, leading to the discovery of his one weakness. Soon bullets were forged it, but the manufacturers claimed it was only as a preventative measure.

He says that he has protected Earth for four decades, then shoots a bullet from a gun into his hand and says that he doesn't feel anything and is a prisoner of his bulletproof skin. Marvelous Man describes all the anguish he hears when he closes his eyes, and talks about how when he sleeps, people die. He picks up a Caltronite bullet and says that he's found his escape, loads the bullet into the gun, and commits suicide on live TV. Speed runs to her sanctum, tells her assistant Cecilia to clear her schedule, and runs off.
As the newscaster proclaims that it's a dark day for mankind, the Citadel goes dark.
Later, President Nicholas Nukem goes on the air and tells his fellow Americans that America will continue to protect the legacy of Marvelous Man. People will save them, and some riot.
