An unforgettably gritty single grandmother, a backdrop of abject slum, and a very profound heartbreak - This episode of modern love made me feel a hundred shades of abandonment. The cherubic kid and a head full of mop-like hair only made the pain more believable. The story within a story, about the metaphorical pancake called for healing.
It starts off like most Indian shows with a self made man, but it ends with a unique take on the backstory of this man. Many orphan stories are typical in their pitiful poverty porn, but this was strangely realistic. Even the grandmothers tote bag was like all grandmothers tote bags. The gluttonous hunger of a kid eating candy floss was like any kid in the world eating candy floss. Which is why when one has to separate from loved ones you can ask the same universal question you'd ask in New York or Panama, "Why did she leave me there?"
