Really great series!
eden_drexie12 May 2022
Not only is this series interesting and well-produced, but it's one of the first I've seen to truly incorporate conservation science. I really appreciate the ways that the scientists explain how these encounters can be avoided and all of the impacts that humans have on wildlife. I definitely recommend this to anyone outdoorsy or people who enjoy search and rescue shows.

Loved it!

I really liked this show. The victims and the experts were realistic in their view of our interaction with nature. They told you what the humans did right and wrong and probably what should've or could've been done differently. They explained why the animal might've acted the way it did. They made sure the audience knew these were special situations and not the normal wildlife behavior. The only real soap box they got on was to "stop feeding the wildlife!" That was a soap box I didn't mind.

This can be an emotional ride sometimes. Being a father who loved being outside with our six kids, I choked up while telling my wife about the father who was also choking up as he watched his daughter being taken out of the Grand Canyon while dangling high in the air by a cable from the rescue helicopter.

I would've liked to see more of the smaller critters that we can sometimes encounter. Spiders, wasps, mosquitos and parasites can also kill and maim.

I can't wait for season two!

Fascinating series

This series is similar to 'I Shouldn't be Alive' series and is just as interesting. Deals with real life stories of peoples near death experiences, but as the title suggests, this time it's solely dealing with interractions with other species on our wildly diverse planet. The reconstructions are well made and the interviews with the unfortunate victims and others involved are informative and often very moving. Many of the stories are also very uplifting and show sides to human nature that are very positive, as well as showing respect for nature and giving great tips on what to do when those interractions don't exactly go to plan.

Great show

Something bit me is an engaging show. The stories are quite fascinating and the actors are well casted and perform well. I think the episode "Lord, I'll see you in a minute." is probably my favorite. I'm hoping for a season 2. Always happy to discover a new show on Disney+

Survival Stories
Siebert_Tenseven29 June 2022
I'm a big fan of survival stories so this series really grabbed me. The format is very methodical and works well. There are two stories per episode featuring the actual survivors being interviewed along with a dramatized version of the events played by actors, accompanied by numerous interviews with the scientists who study animal behavior. I always feel grateful after hearing about others' challenges, so every episode lifted my spirits quite a bit. It's surprising that the production staff were able to find so many survivors of animal attacks, and I'm not sure there could be a second season with quite the same impact. It would be a bummer if they had to go with "Something Bit Me And I Died" which is the actual outcome of less positive situations. As I noted, survival stories rock my world.

Enjoyed this far more than I'd like to admit!

Warning: Spoilers
From the get go, this is a bit lowest common denominator TV, but I loved it! There's a lot of repetition and could have easily been a 25 minute show rather than the 40+ mins it is.

There's a smidgen of useful info about what to actually do in a bear/ snake/ hippo attack, but mostly its very hyped up drama.

I appreciate that you know from the get go the people survived, and there are a few 'ew!' moments when you see the stitches/ scars, and I'd certainly think twice about canoeing the Zambizi. Or maybe just stay out of the wilderness altogether.

If you need some TV that has the depth of a puddle I can't recommend this enough!

This show is no joke

You don't want to watch this show unless you are ready for several punches to the gut. It's honestly harrowing at times, more than you might expect. But otherwise I wholeheartedly recommend it.

These are real stories, deeply compelling, retold by the people involved themselves. For the most part they are also re-enacted in parallel to the retellings. The incidents that are retold had a profound impact on the people telling them, both emotionally and physically. No filler here. It's both shocking and inspiring.

Learn a lot
lrichardson-4963415 December 2022
I love this show. I hope I've learned enough to save my life or someone else's. Out in the wild I'm just as afraid of human contact as an animal. Not having cell phone reception doesn't help. Sometimes I've thought, what don't they do this or that. But until it happens to you, you really don't know what you'd do in any given situation. The show that featured the flying barracuda really gave me pause as I've scuba dived around them with no problem. Now I think I was a very lucky diver. Same with sharks. So this show really is a teaching tool for encounters on land and water. I really hope there's a season 2.

Fascinating show
derekjohnson-589818 September 2022
I am a big fan of survival stories, and this series does them incredibly well. The stories themselves are incredible, and the re-enactments aren't distracting or terrible. Each story is a great reminder to respect the wild and you always need to be aware of your surroundings and take necessary precautions for wildlife when in their habitats. Some of the stories are from the same animals, but that's to be expected and they are still unique. The first episode is pretty entertaining but the second episode with the polar bear story really pulls you in and you are hooked by the end of it. This is a really great show.

Became difficult to keep watching...
jakebrann14 May 2022
I don't know exactly what it is but the episodes are really drawn out and if you watch them back to back a lot of the people are attacked by the same animal and you have the same researchers and animal experts in different episodes saying the exact same thing you already heard them say in the other one. The stories could literally be over in five minutes each but they have to drag them out to make an episode and that gets a little repetitive and boring. Maybe just don't binge watch the season. I would have liked to see more video or photos of the real peoples actual injuries.

Poor Production
CaptRon-220 November 2022
Like a thousand other "drama" shows, this one deals with bites / attacks on victims. Following an overused and tired format, we hear from the. Victim, the reenactment, some expert that is willing to go on camera but wasn't there, and finally the narrator who has to repeat everything you just heard 3 times previously. 15 minutes into the show, it's like okay, you got bit by a snake, go to the hospital. They spend 30 minutes telling a story that should have lasted 10 minutes at most.

Annoyingly, the show forces two unrelated stories to be told in parallel, further stretching out the 44 minute runtime. Sticking to this format is just tiring. Stick with the victim, tell the story, epilogue, and wrap it. All the other fluff is unnecessary and frustrating for the viewer.

They Made True Story About a Polar Bear Attack Boring
isaacwest-6600124 September 2023
Something Bit Me offers a cool experience with a good narrator and good videos of animals and the environment. But you quickly realize the execution is abysmal. The show tries to create tense stories to make you really think "will this person survive the attack?" But they have one massive problem: they have the survivors telling the story from the start, so knowing they and everyone survived removes all tension before the attack is even talked about. It wouldn't be so bad if the re-enactments were good. They weren't, they were goofy at best. The show tries so hard to be dramatic and tense but fails incredibly miserably. It's a shame because I love animal documentaries and especially learning about these fascinating creatures. But it's so boring. I'm frankly flabbergast at how poor the execution was. Only watch if you want something in the background about animals, or maybe to laugh at some of the goofy re-enactments. The shaky camera parts makes me chuckle with an eye-roll every time.
