Hooo, my!
Well, it's a vampire movie. But if you can make sense of it, especially the last 5 or minutes, you're doing better than I.
The movie seemed like something that was made up as they went along, using a super8 movie camera. The sound quality suffers here and there, and it's tough to hear what is being said. The script is just awful, and the dialog is so stilted that the vampires seemed to be channeling Shakespearean actors. Maybe it was supportive of the plot, because the sister of one of the heroes was pretty contemporary in her speech.
It struck me a really well done high school movie project.
The story line is sort of ludicrous, even for a vampire movie. There are some scenes that I just wondered, "what the...? What was the point of that?
The acting was pretty poor at points, but I don't think it was the actors' failure as much as it might have been the director's. There were signs that the actors were trying to do something, but had such silly roles, stilted dialog, and likely were working to fulfill a director's vision. I felt a little bad for them being imprisoned in this film.
As others have mentioned, there were some good looking vampires in the movie. But I didn't think they outweighed the negatives of this amateurish attempt at a Gothic vampire tale. Just too much crazy stuff going on, too much magic, and too many arcane rules for vampires.
I gave it three stars because it was a heroic effort, and employed some decent post production effects worthy of praise. But I think the dialog REALLY drags this movie down.
