- After four long weeks, the "unknowns" move to the ranch and are reunited with the other contestants, who get to meet the new trainers for the first time. Host Alison Sweeney explains that the ranch contestants will be safe this week if they collectively lose more than 48 pounds, but for the "unknowns," they will be facing their first elimination all season. And both teams only get to see their trainers once this week. The "unknowns" experience some surprises while settling into their new home, and a secret is revealed about how one contestant has lost so much weight. A challenge involving weights shows which team stacks up to be the best, and later, everyone weighs in and finds out whether one or two players will be going home.—NBC Publicity
- The end of Jay and Jennifer's week off the ranch is approaching, which means the off-ranch contestants will soon be working out on the ranch. During the last chance workout, Cara and Brett want the off-ranch contestants to show a united front when they arrive on the ranch, but Q chooses to focus on himself. On the ranch's last chance workout, Hannah has a breakthrough thanks to Jillian, that breakthrough which she feels is the start of a new life. At the weigh-in, Jay and Jennifer return, they who give the on-ranch contestants the first news of what life off-ranch has been like. After the weigh-in, two contestants make an admission about this past week. The post weigh-in also marks the return of the off-ranch contestants, who no longer have the comfort of immunity after four weeks of being on the Biggest Loser. All the contestants learn that they will still be training as two separate teams, with Bob and Jillian's contestants working toward a weight-loss goal which could mean immunity for them all at the next weigh-in. Conversely, Brett and Cara's teams have a weight-gain challenge, the winning pair which will also receive immunity for the week. Regardless, one person from Brett and Cara's group will definitely be sent home after the next weigh-in. The vote after the weigh-in is an emotional one as the voters have mixed emotions between who they would really like to see leave, and the plea by the team below the yellow line to send the other person home for their own personal reasons.—Huggo
- Open with the Unknowns. They are getting in their last workout before joining the Ranchers. During the workout Q walks away from the ring without saying anything to anyone. This leads to a huge argument, with Q saying he left because he wasn't getting "my burn" and everyone else furious that he abandoned his team. Cara is pissed and the rest of the contestants agree.
We cut to the ranch workout. There is a focus on Hannah, the former elite athlete who suffered a massive back injury. She tells us that Jillian's work is allowing her to do things she's never done before. It is an emotional experience for both her and her sister Olivia.
Since last week's episode was cut short, we get a weigh-in 15 minutes into the show. Green returns and tells everyone they are happy they've been with Bob and Jillian.
Green team is up first and they've lost 15 pounds, Jen from 242 to 236 and Jay from 350 to 341. To be safe Blue team needs to have lost more than 18 pounds. They come up well short, with Arthur losing nine (to 450) and Jesse three (to 266). Aqua is next. They must have lost more than eight pounds. They hit the number, with Courtney down 10 (to 282) and Marci down three (to 208).
Up next is Purple, which has to have lost more than seven pounds to be safe. The get it by a nose, dropping eight pounds as a team. Olvia lost five pounds (to 228) and Hannah three (to 217). After the weigh-in Hannah tells Jillian she has changed her life and the two have a moment.
Up last is the newly-created team of Irene and Don. They must have lost more than eight pounds to get above the Blue team and be safe. Shockingly they both gained an identical six pounds, Irene up to 230 and Don up to 286. They admit afterwards that their goal was to gain weight so none of their teammates would have to go home. Bob is furious. Don tells us in an interview the ranch wasn't for him and this was a tactical move to go home.
We end up skipping the deliberation and voting off Don by a show of hands. He thanks Irene for "her sacrifice."
The Unknowns are brought in team-by-team to join the Ranchers. Everyone comments on how each other looks. Alison asks them about returning to campus. She explains that this week there are two different challenges. The Ranchers must beat their total weight loss from the previous week and everyone will be safe. At the end of the week a team from the Rancher group will fall below the yellow line and someone will be eliminated.
Brett and Cara head up to the ranch and seem excited about joining the two superstar trainers. We get a brief bio for each, followed by Brett and Cara running a full workout for the Unknowns. Rulon breaks two treadmills. We get an insight into Brett and Cara's workout philosophy.
Alison greets everyone in the ranch. Today's challenge is for immunity, but just among the Unknowns. One at a time team members must place weights on a scale for the other teams. As soon as 500 pounds is put on a team's scale it is eliminated.
The Red team is targeted immediately. Yellow team has a strategy of holding its heavier weights until later. Red is out first. Brown team is targeted next, followed by them going after Pink. Brown team is gone next, followed by Pink. This leaves Yellow and Gray battling it out. Despite being behind by several hundred pounds, Yellow has its big weights in reserve. Yellow ends up winning by five pounds and about two seconds.
Last chance workout time. Arthur has a mini-breakthrough on one of the machines. Jennifer also seems to be having a good workout.
Weigh-in time. Up first are the Ranchers and Irene. She has lost eight pounds (to 216). Green is next. They are down 14 pounds, ten of which came from Jay. Jen isn't thrilled with having only lost four pounds. Purple has lost 11 pounds seven of which comes from Hannah. The group is now up to 33 pounds, with two teams left to weigh-in.
Aqua team is next on the scale. They have lost 15 pounds, eight from Marci (to 200), with Courtney down seven to 275. This leaves the Ranchers at 48 pounds. The Blue team needs to have lost just one pound combined. There is nothing to worry about, as Blue is down 15 pounds, nine of which comes from Jesse.
Time for the Unknowns to weigh in. The immune Yellow team is up first and has lost a combined 33 pounds, 17 of which comes from Rulon. Rulon is at 394, while Justin is down to 292. The first in-jeopardy team is Red. They have lost 24 pounds, 13 coming from Q.
Brown team is next, needing to have lost at least 25 pounds to be safe. They are well above the mark, dropping 30 combined pounds. Austin is down 16 pounds by himself, to 326. Ken is emotional. Gray team is next and needs to have lost at least 21 pounds to be safe. The also hit the mark, with Moses' 14 pound loss pacing a 23-pound week.
The final team to weigh-in is the Pink team. To get ahead of Red and be safe they must have lost more than 16 pounds. They hit the mark with a 20, as Deni leads the way with an 11 (to 210). This means Red will lose one member.
After the weigh-in the Red team tells them Q won't be able to keep up if he goes home. They would like Larialmy to be voted off. Justin makes Q to her that if he stays he won't cheat his wife out of the opportunity. Some contestants are torn because they don't trust. Larialmy says if they love and respect her they will respect their wishes.
Ultimately the Ranchers give the Red what they want and vote to keep Q around. We see in the at-home vignette that Larialmy has a good outlook on the rest of her life. Don has lost 64 pounds since leaving the ranch. He goes to the gym with his brother several times a week. We see a family dinner attended by his son Paul, who had threatened to disown his father if he didn't lose weight.
