Come and let's get misogynic ...
Coventry27 March 2022
Writer/director Chris Sun is a cool and amiable guy whom I met a couple of times when he came to personally introduce his films "Charlie's Farm" and "Boar" at the Brussels' International Fantastic Film Festival. Sun is a self-made man, with a vast knowledge of horror movie history and an even bigger love for the classics of the 70s and 80s. Are his films must-see genre classics? Nope, but they are a lot of fun and deliver plentiful in the gore, filth, and sleaze-departments.

His debut film "Come and Get Me", on the other hand, I'm not ravingly enthusiast about. I respect and admire how it's a zero-budgeted slasher with still a lot of focus on professional looking gory make-up effects, but it's such an incredibly unpleasant and nauseating trip! This thing is even more sickening than the misogynic slashers of the late 70s/early 80s ("Maniac", "Don't Go in the House", "Bloodrage", ...) and basically just exists of 90 minutes of deranged lunatics chasing after screaming girls in the woods; then killing them barbarically. Difficult to watch not only because of the vile content, but also because the shaky handheld camera makes you seasick. I also understood approximately one out of ten sentences that were spoken, due to the Aussie dialects (and no subtitles) and the poor sound quality.

Horrific for all the wrong reasons
natalieee_12323 October 2011
So when I heard about 'Australia's most f*cked up indie film' it was clear to me from the start it would be a bit of a joke. Anything with that level of un-professionalism would undoubtedly not be anything worth writing home about, and of course I wasn't wrong. So just for laughs I rented it out with a friend and believe me when I say I was tempted to ask for my $5 back as it was not even worth $1.

From the very beginning the intentions of the movie are unclear. Actually, to be perfectly honest the entire movie made very little sense. Characters that had literally no importance in the movie had long, drawn out, pointless scenes that ended abruptly without any development or explanation and were not again revisited through the entire movie. In many parts it felt as though the disk was scratched or something as scenes cut and changed so abruptly and unnecessarily that we were left totally confused as to what was even going on.

As for the so called 'FX' there were literally none. All of the killing scenes used dodgy home made looking limbs that were pretty obviously made of silicone or something along those lines. I think the maker of the film must have known they weren't too crash hot though as all of the promised 'gore' was generally only flashed into view for a second or so and then back to the weirdo attacking it. I have seen that many other reviews already addressed the disastrous attempts at lighting and sound so I wont go into that however that really did add insult to injury.

The acting wasn't completely terrible, though 'Jonny' was the most annoying character of all time, but the rest did what they could with the lack of substance provided to them.

The script was probably the only horrific part of this movie. Almost every second word was explicit, and the word 'c**t' was even thrown in there a few times to really cross the line of Australian, and just plain, cheap, dirty, bogan, trash. The swearing was so unnecessary and didn't add any kind of substance or 'passion' to scenes at all. There were even multiple rape attempts throughout that were just poorly portrayed.

Overall, I am the most easily scared person and I usually end up behind a pillow during horror movies, so for me to be able to honestly say that I sat there squinting at the dark screen to try and work out what was going on without so much as even jumping or flinching once, really says something, which ultimately is what was really wrong with this 'horror' film; it was in no way scary or even gory at all. It was merely confusing, pointless and immensely boring. I had to force myself to sit through the whole thing. Don't waste your time or money on this film. I defiantly will not make the same mistake twice and torture myself with any of this guy's future 'work.' Without a doubt, the WORST movie I ever have, and I presume ever will, see in my life.

What the hell did I just watch?
horrorluvr-126-1281825 August 2011
Warning: Spoilers
Holy hell, this is the worst thing I have ever seen. An embarrassment to the Australian film industry. It's movies like this that get us our bad reputation over-seas. Someone ought to be shot for this mind numbing drivel, the level of intelligence that the target audience has is an insult and the morons who did enjoy this aren't making things any better. In conclusion lets hope we never sink this low again.

I'd give this credit if it were disturbing but well-written - but it's just bad. Whoever wrote this has no idea how to write female characters, dialogue, plot, or anything except curse words.

Things that this movie taught me: if I ever want to assault a woman, she'll do nothing but scream and lie on her back like a ragdoll.

This movie isn't even confrontational - it's boring, filled with bad writing and unrealistic acting. I don't think the people who did this have even met a woman in real life.

They should have stayed at home. I wish I had
JAnders852 April 2011
Warning: Spoilers
Come And Get Me is truly the dark side of indie film. Not because it is, as the film makers would tout 'Australia's sickest , most f-d up indie film' - because this is what you get when talentless bogans have access to movie making equipment. after attending the premiere screening and the wonderful profanity laced opening speech from director, who in no uncertain terms told the audience that if they didn't like it they could 'F off' I was then treated to the screaming pleas of someone i was later told was the producer shouting from the door at audience members who were still coming in. This display of charm and professionalism set the tone for an evening that can only be described as a trip into a misogynistic, talent free bogan wet dream.

THERE IS ZERO PLOT OR CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT IN THIS FILM. NONE. If this was written on a bundy and coke bender in an afternoon, it wouldn't surprise me in the least. The cast, god bless them, do what they can with what little they have, And manage to infuse these cardboard stereotypes with some honest to gosh believable emotional range - but there's so little there for them to work with.Every cast member should get an award for doing the most they can with a zero script and less direction. Honestly, you could write the script on a square of toilet paper. A true testament to the talent of the cast would seem to be putting up with The director and production team for the duration of the shoot.Lines are lifted from other films, and the twist ending..ugh.

Some of the winners? after seeing her friends butchered, a girl screams 'I told you I had to go to work in the morning'

after a disembowelment? 'ya friend dropped her guts hahaha'

It would seem funny and witty are not the writer/directors friends.

To be fair, the 'Most F'd up indie film' line could be true- because the technical side of the film is an abomination and the only horrifying part of the film. A dark, badly lit film with god awful sound,ADD editing, wretched lighting and colour, wretched camera work, zero direction and a hammy OTT soundtrack is what will really come and get you, and dull your brain into a coma for the duration of this cinematic abortion. The gore, which seems to be the one thing the director did put effort into, because we can see it certainly wasn't writing or directing, is the true star of the show, and while well done, is flashed on screen so liberally it loses any and all impact. For self professed fans of horror, they seem to be unaware of what makes something truly scary. But then, that's not the point, is it? The filmmakers proclaim they are proud of their ocker bogan film, as if that is somehow meant to be a point of pride. People did walk out- not because of any intensity, but because the film is BAD. Though, I'm certain the filmmakers will see it as a victory, as self awareness seems to be something they sorely lack. The truth is, it seems to be nothing more than a low grade riff on Wolf Creek, Hostel and The Texas Chainsaw Massacre that misses the point of all 3, adds nothing new to either Australian film or the Genre, and, unless you have the mentality of an imbecile who enjoys the glorified victimizing and murder of women, there is no entertainment to be had here.

Lacklustre
xs86 April 2011
Warning: Spoilers
I think most internet reviews are by their nature fairly vitriolic. It's the price one pays for being in the public eye - the internet has given everyone a forum to share their honest opinion, and sometimes not all of those opinions are favourable.

That said, I'm going to try to be as nice as possible in my review. I won't go into the sloppy camera work and editing of the film, as other reviewers seem to have covered this in depth. My main problem with CAGM was the script - I felt that was one of the biggest problems with the movie. Movies are story-telling - if you want to do a horror movie, you tell a scary story. It felt to me like the film-makers were only really interested in doing a bunch of murder scenes, and then they strung together just enough plot to make that fit. Because of that, the movie really struggles to get much mileage out of the material that it's got, and you spend half the movie watching "build up" stuff of girls getting ready for the club, girls at the club, guys killing random people, etc.

People don't go to the movies to watch boring day-to-day stuff; it would have been better if the movie started as the girls were leaving the club - nobody cares about watching them party, that's not what you want to see a horror movie for, and seeing the bad guys killing nameless faces at the start of the movie didn't strike the emotional nerve the writers were going for.

Liking horror movies and wanting to do horror effects isn't enough reason to go and make a movie - you have to have a story to tell, otherwise it's just lazy film making. Take away the blood and gore from the movie and there's nothing left.

I did like that they cast 20-something actors though, instead of 30-somethings, and that the girls were really good looking but not the sort that you never see in real life. But I didn't like that the movie looked like a grungy TV-movie-of-the-week with some gore thrown in.

Come and let me down
horrorful4 April 2011
Warning: Spoilers
I understand that the budget for Come and get me was small, and I realise horror movies are usually quite 'bad' in themselves. (That's what I enjoy most about them!) However, I did have high expectations for a witty blood & guts film shot with a little bit of beginner roughness. I didn't expect to be let down so largely, particularly in the special effects department. I had really hoped for extreme mutilation that would make me cringe and perhaps vomit! Instead I found myself in disbelief that Director Chris Sun had let such shoddy effects take place. I felt a little embarrassed. The sound was overpowering and distracting at most times. The plot was messy and did not seem to take shape. The character establishment was confusing, the lead villain (Johnny) was played far too over the top in my opinion, his evil laughing was neither funny nor disturbing but rather irritating. Yes the lighting was bad too, and I recall too much camera play (zooming & bump) during dialogue. In fact camera focus became an issue in a particular scene, it may have been deliberate (please correct me if I am wrong).

I see a lot of reviews stating 'rape scenes' there are none. Not even nudity actually.

I had hopes for this movie, but to me it failed.

A serious disappointment
loosemoose693 April 2011
This moronic abomination is not a movie. This is arguably the worst, most insipid film that has ever been released. I have never seen a movie so badly made, that fails on so many levels. By the end of the movie, I actually felt like killing myself. It's not even hilariously bad (ala Waterworld, Showgirls or Gigli) - it's the cinematic equivalent of a drunk homeless man projectile vomiting into your face.

Where to begin? The movie is neither entertaining nor well-done. The script is an absolute turkey and the dialogue is just awful - veering from attempts at gallows humour (which fail miserably) to what appears to be vulgarity for vulgarity's sake.

The camera-work looks like it was shot by an epileptic crackhead. The background music is so loud that you can't hear what's being said. Some shots seem to have been close-cropped and zoomed in on so much that you're literally staring at a bunch of pixels on the screen. Overall, the effect is less chaotic and more "I don't understand what's actually happening". It's practically unwatchable in parts. Even the special effects are merely ordinary. There are no scary moments in the movie, nothing that even gives you a feeling of tension.

You could forgive the poor execution (no pun intended) if the script or any of the characters were even remotely engaging or sympathetic. Sadly, there's nothing interesting about it at all. To call the characters cardboard is to insult a useful packing material. Their motivations are flimsy, their reactions illogical - the script is essentially nothing more than a gimmick to set up each murder scene. If the people writing this don't care enough to put any effort in, how are we, as the audience, supposed to care either? In even the worst horror films, if you can't find the characters enjoyable, you at least find them irritating enough to enjoy their death scene - in this movie, you are robbed of any enjoyment because you simply do not care. The protagonists are equally bad - they convey no sense of menace and aren't even well-written enough to be unlikeable. Whatever this movie set out to be, it just ends up being a sad, contrived attempt at aping the success of classic films like Last House on the Left, Texas Chainsaw Massacre and I Spit On Your Grave.

This is just a flawed, bad movie, an insult to the viewer's intelligence and not scary at all. Really the only thing that scares me is that I actually paid to watch this mess.

Bad Lighting + Crappy Plot = This Movie
coolcat1974-19-168624 April 2011
Warning: Spoilers
Boring and stupid, half of the time it's too dark to see anything! If you're going to produce a bad film at least provide lighting since film is a visual medium. I've watched Children of the Corn sequels that had better picture quality than this mess.

Add to this a script involving numerous references to rape, threats of rape, the attempted rape of a dead body and one guy humping a dismembered arm... I would have actually had more respect for the filmmakers if they'd gone the whole hog and actually put the deed in there instead of tiptoeing around it. For something that claims to be "the sickest Australian film ever" you'd expect to see something a little more graphic, but the movie never commits fully to what it purports to be.

If I wanted to watch a bunch of loud, foul-mouthed teenagers committing anti social acts, I could go hang out at the nearest shopping centre on a Thursday night - at least then you save yourself the ticket price.

I could almost forgive the downright silly script, but there's no excuse for putting such an unprofessional-looking movie into a cinema and expecting audiences to pay full price for it. The filmmakers clearly have no respect for the audience, or for their craft.

Don't pay to see this - I'm sure you'll be able to download it for free on the internet soon enough.

Why?
mrd744 April 2011
Warning: Spoilers
Let's try to keep our reviews about the movie, people - not to attack or defend the director.

That said, on to the movie - I was actually looking forward to this but it's really just not very good. The characters are really one dimensional - they could pretty much be named Girl 1, Girl 2, Character 1, Character 2 - they're all very interchangeable and bland. In most horror films, you care about the protagonist - or you at least have an entertaining killer to watch (for example, Michael Myers, Jason Vorhees, etc.) This movie doesn't have any interesting characters, and you can barely tell them apart.

There's no real tension to the movie. The dialogue in the film is silly, as is the over-the-top acting. The production values are very C-grade -- the overly loud soundtrack and poor lighting is both distracting and annoying.

It might have been better if I'd understood what style the movie was actually meant to be - I couldn't tell if it was meant to be realistic, avante garde, schlocky? I can understand that women would be offended by the film - horror movies traditionally have a strong female lead who lives til the end. This movie doesn't have that, so really, the girls seem to exist solely as cannon fodder for the killers. The girls aren't particularly likable, but neither are the guys. Without that, it's hard to care about what's happening on-screen.

I don't think I'd watch this film again and I definitely wouldn't recommend it to anyone else.

Great Aussie Humour Mixed with Brutal Gore!
thefockers16 April 2011
We loved the full Aussie humour! Although some scenes were brutal as hell, there was enough funny one-liners to keep ya from freaking out! Considering the small budget I think Chris Sun has done an awesome job to bring his first movie to life! The characters were cool as, Johnny was definitely our favourite! Overall we had a great night out & was impressed with the story! LOVED the gore! I hope that Chris gets to showcase more of his demented humour! We cannot pin point which parts were our favourite, but all of Johnny's scenes & the chick who gets pulverized by the block of wood with nails is a stand out! Congratulations to all involved! Great Australian FULLY independent film!

you will definitely form a passionate opinion.....
bonnieleeobrien4 April 2011
Warning: Spoilers
I believe a lot of reviews to this movie sound biased towards one side or another due to personal relationships of the viewer which makes an honest customers choice to view this movie very difficult. I have no knowledge about film production so unable to comment about any professional film quality. It does sate however in the facts this is an amateur film so for movie buffs i wouldn't expect you would attend this movie to dissect the flaws of quality in such aspects of special effects etc. The story line is controversial and will definitely rise a variety of opinions depending on the viewer. I feel there is a strong element of realism to this movie which the viewer may find quite disturbing however as stated in some reviews it is the reality of true crime. Personal comments towards people involved in this movie i feel are irrelevant as its the movie that is under review. For someone who is trying to decide whether to go and see this film I believe you will only be able to form your own opinion on this movie once you have seen it. I believe you will definitely form your own very passionate opinion.....

An Absolute Sonic Atrocity
Spice_Weasel6 April 2011
Warning: Spoilers
Come and Get Me is a film that is being sold as "Australia's sickest indie horror venture". Unfortunately, the only thing sick about it is the fact that it ever got made in the first place.

This is Director Chris Suns first feature film, and thats just fine. In absolutely no way would I expect a directors very first movie to be a shining beacon of excellence. But there's only so much slack I'm willing to cut for amateur projects before they transcend "beginners charm" and become "inexcusable bullcrap".

The script is insultingly clichéd and horribly anorexic, I wouldn't be surprised if it was written in a fifteen minute sit on the toilet. It is riddled with the most painfully cheesy diolauge you've ever heard, and does absolutely NOTHING in the way of character development. All you know about the killers Brett and Johnny (who are supposed to be the two most interesting characters) is that they are angry. And then they are angry. And then they are angry. And then the movie ends. You never get any indication as to why they are psychotic, your just supposed to take it on face value that they are and it doesn't work. The actors are evidently not bad actors at all, but they haven't been given anything interesting to say or do so they come off boring. And a small budget is absolutely no excuse for crummy scripts. Writing comes from the mind, and thats free. Dog Soldiers was done on a budget not much bigger than this and it turned out to be one of the most excellent horror movies of its decade.

Whoever edited CAGM needs to be slapped across the face, hard. At one point towards the end, where all the characters are supposed to be lost in the endless bush, you can PLAINLY see a big shiny 4WD in the background, not five feet away from the actors. Not long before that, a bloody HOUSE with its lights on is clearly visible in the background. CONSISTENCY IS NICE!

I don't care what your budget is or whether this is your first movie or not, you don't leave mistakes like that in the footage and then just release it anyway and expect the audience to overlook everything. It's insulting to our intelligence and it makes you look like a lazy moron.

The movie "tries" to ape the gut wrenching tension of other, better gore-hound flicks like The Hills Have Eyes and Hostel, but with the awful camera work and worse diolauge, it fails in every account.

The camera work is shoddy, the lighting is usually too dark to see anything, but the bloody sound is worst of all. The whole selling point of the movie is supposed to be its gore, but as soon as an actual kill scene starts, Chris Sun has thought it appropriate to drown it all out with douchey rock music. I'm sorry is this supposed to be cool or something? because it looks like a 13 year old Youtubers attempt at cool. I swear to god I heard the same goddamn background song at least three times during the film, all at points that were supposed to be set hours apart. Lazy.

Come and Get Me is a movie that carries the stink of the auteur, a pet project made for the creators sake rather than anyone else. It just so happens that in this case, the creator seems to be a complete jackass with no clue as to what makes compelling viewing, good writing, or decent directing. A massive fail in every conceivable way.

Avoid this movie like it will give you rectal cancer.

Do not waste your money.
tomykins23 October 2011
Warning: Spoilers
To put it politely and simply, this movie was nothing short of terrible. Despite my small amount of knowledge of film and TV, it was clear to myself, and others that saw it with me, that this was a complete and utter train-wreck from the first few minutes.

This movie that is claimed to be a 'horror' film is not remotely frightening in the slightest. Not once did I find myself scared, rather I was bored the entire time. The only real horrifying things about the movie was the use of extremely coarse language, which was completely unnecessary, as the characters constantly spoke one word sentences consisting of 'f**k', 'c**t', or 'sl*t'. Not to mention the potential rape scene, where one of the killers announced he wanted to "kill her, and then f**k her. This was no where near scary, merely disgusting.

I could say so much more about how poor this film is, however the amount of reviews agreeing with my opinion makes that slightly redundant. Also, I do not know where this movie won awards, however I have a feeling the director Chris Sun made them up.

Without a doubt, this is the worst movie ever produced.

So much failure
blackravynrose4 April 2011
Warning: Spoilers
I don't know anyone involved with the making of this film, so whatevs to all the other comments on here - I went cuz my girlfriend wanted to see it.

Short version - it blows big time. Save your money.

Long version - it blows big time, but in so many ways:

Acting - over the top in a lot of places

Plot - mindnumbingly simplistic and so full of holes you drive a truck through it

Script - might appeal to a 15-year old that has been living in a cave and reading old comic books

Fimography - I've seen better Sci-Fi channel movies

Special effects - see filmography

Critical analysis - Wolf Creek meets Hostel and has sloppy, drunken sex in the parking lot producing a retarded child that nobody likes. That retarded child fell out of a truck, hit its head very hard on the pavement, and became this movie.

I wasn't expecting much, but this steaming pile of direct-to-video awfulness didn't even deliver that. It's not controversial, just cheap-looking. Doesn't the budget info on IMDb say $250,000?? If that's not true, someone ought to update it.

LOL I notice people on here keep saying "Raw" - what does that actually mean? Is that their way of trying to justify the grainy picture? Either way, a low budget is no excuse for poor picture quality. If you don't have enough to do the job properly, don't bother - and don't expect audiences to shell out their hard earned money to watch it, because that's just greedy and arrogant. If the movie was made for DVD, why not just release it straight to DVD?

You don't get a gold star, a pat on the head and a "good on you for trying" in the real world - that only happens in preschool. If you can't do a good job of something, please don't bother in the first place. I don't think cinemas know how bad the picture on this thing is, or they wouldn't be showing it.

On the bright side, if you walk out, it'll be hella easy to get your $$$ back :D

Ho-hum
ratt276 April 2011
Warning: Spoilers
When you're going to do a movie which has potentially "controversial" content, you need to make sure that you bring your A-game because people will judge the movie very harshly based on the content. Sadly, Come and Get Me does not bring its A-game. The script is bad, the post-production is bad, and, oh yeah, the storyline is also bad.

The action fails to cause any excitement, and the characters are paper-thin. Scores no points for originality, wit, or intelligence.

The writing is where this film really fell flat. None of the characters had defined personalities, and given the threadbare plot, there were too many faces in this film. I didn't feel a connection to any of the characters (I liked to watch some of them and would love to see some of the actors in other movies, but I wasn't invested). Overall, Come and Get Me struggles because the poorly written script is one of the worst pieces in this puzzle instead of acting as the fundamental structure propping the film up. Some very amateur mistakes have clearly been made in the post-production process - the picture and sound could have been partially salvaged by a decent editor and sound-person.

The usual suspects among audiences will respond, but there's little beyond the usual ingredients to tempt the more discriminating. When torture porn becomes as snooze-inducing as lecture hall, it's time to call it a day.

Terrible,Awful,Hateful,Poor,Offensive,Obnoxious,
Moviestomp3 April 2011
I showed up to the premiere of this Chris Sun Film and found my self screaming and trying to get out of my chair for the nearest door. Dignity is all that stops a person from standing up and addressing the director in the Audience in the middle of the movie and, yelling "WHY ARE YOU MAKING THIS HORRID PIECE OF SNUFF" The film is interlaced with bad rape scenes, on the premise that women who dress in heels and skirts deserve the torture put on by the 3 antagonists.

Words can not describe how bad Come and Get Me Is, I tried metaphors as, the Film looks as if Stevie Wonder shot a Snuff Film, yet that does not describe the horrid trash of Come and Get ME.

Unimaginative,Degrading, Come and Get Me Fails.

Chris Sun hopes this movie will gain a Sequel, I hope the movie theaters pull Come and Get Me and fine Chris Sun for making the worse film of all time.

I am ashamed to be an Australian.

Would have been better as straight-to-DVD
punkifye4 April 2011
I went to see this movie for 2 reasons - #1, I love horror movies, and #2, I think the actor who plays Johnny is really hot. The movie was a real let-down though.

I gave it 2 stars for the sexy Christian Radford. He was really the only good thing in it.

The acting in the movie was really uneven, and the dodgy lighting and camera work definitely makes the movie suffer. I didn't expect too much from the script - it is a horror movie after all, but the attempted funny parts in the movie don't really work. It's like the movie couldn't decide if it wanted to be scary or funny, and it didn't manage to do either.

My feeling after the movie ended is that if it were a student film at uni, it wouldn't get a passing grade. It looks like they blew their budget on the horror effects and didn't have any money left for anything else - like some lights or a decent sound guy. There's not much point having realistic horror effects if the audience can't actually see them.

A shame - I'd like to see the actors in something else because they seemed to try really hard to give a good performance (despite the fact that they had some really groan-worthy lines), but I think the directors and writers of this movie have a lot to learn about making movies.

A waste of time - - filmmakers', actors' and viewers'
kabooki24248 August 2011
Warning: Spoilers
Glad I only borrowed this one, if I'd have seen it in a theatre I'd want my money back. It definitely does not live up to its own hype. "Australia's sickest indie film"? What a joke. Obviously a marketing ploy.

This movie is 90 yawn filled minutes of disappointment. You get to watch a group of guys and girls screaming and yelling for over an hour, then they die. That is it. It's a 3 minute story that's been stretched beyond its limits. It's just not something that needed to be made. I understand what that situation would be like. Yeah, it would suck. Yeah, I'd be angry. Yeah, I'd be scared. But after 15 minutes I don't even care what happens to them. Just finish the movie so I can eat a sandwich. The film failed to make me feel the way the characters felt. Get your fast forward button ready.

Come and Get Me some tips on how to make a decent movie
goldyshooter4 April 2011
Warning: Spoilers
Personally, i don't care about the themes of this film. It's a horror, true, it's full of bogan, ocker stereotypes and it has a lousy attitude to women. So did Wolf Creek and Hostel. I understand these things are not for everyone, and if a film has uncomfortable subject matter, but is, like Wolf Creek or Once Were Warriors, Well made, i will watch it and i will appreciate it for what it is.

I do NOT care how much budget Come And Get Me Had or did not have. It is a bad, no, wretchedly bad film. The script, for instance, is utter rubbish. Writing a good script costs nothing. The lighting was abominable and so poorly done it renders the film nigh unwatchable , the sound was terrible and the direction sorely lacking. The acting was better than could be expected from such a insipid script.

I see at lot of you saying 'That's the style' NO. Badly made student film with no script is NOT a style. Saying something is a style does not cover your mistakes, nor does it give anyone with a slight knowledge of film making pause to say 'well, you must be a misunderstood genius' YOUR FILM IS BAD. LEARN TO MAKE A GOOD ONE.

Low budget or not, plenty of films have been low budget that are a far better quality. This is a rushed, poorly made effort, and if you don't care enough about your art, your product or us, the audience, to put the effort in to make this presentable, then do not expect any breaks to be cut for you. I sincerely hope the Writers, Directors And Producer's have learnt from this film and will put a bit more effort into their next venture.

A spirit-sapping exercise in female degradation fantasy
thanatos13-21-9151447 April 2011
"Come & Get Me" is flat, tedious and completely forgettable: a Saw rip-off with less smarts. (Take a moment, please, to allow that sentence to sink in.) It's just the same old same old repackaged as the new worst offender.

Even worse than the movie's being torture-porn junk is the fact that it's also incredibly boring...as predictable as it is ugly and tedious.

A badly written, poorly directed and appallingly filmed mess. It had no style, no original elements, and overall, nothing good about it.

I never thought I'd say this, but this movie gives torture porn a bad name.

Not to bad at all

Well there is good movies and there is bad movies, Finally I have found one I am not 100% sure of. I read what everyone has written and it really didn't help me much as so many people are full of crap, so I thought I would have a look for my self. Definitely should have went straight to DVD because you can tell they struggled with colour for the Cinema when they blow it up on the big screen, I watched at Gympie and I am guessing all the Audio issues have been fixed as the version I watched was really good sound wise(So they are learning).

I am not going to slag it out as I have never made a movie and one of my fav films is called DR. Chopper so this is quite tame compared to that. I will say that yes there is pointless killings in this film, ITS A HORROR FILM thats what normally happens. I quite enjoyed the acting, sometimes a little over the top, but we can say that the Johnny character is a little mental so that makes sense.

Overall I thought was a great effort for a first film, I am kinda eager now to see what they do next, I mean who gets this kinda controversy on their first film. As for all you guys out there slagging this film off, please upload your movies here so we can see your work as well. A lot of people mention the script? I understood the story quite well! I have seen many big budget films that have no story line. Come on guys stop being petty, just face it you didn't like it and thats that! To the Director and the crew, 5 stars for getting your first film out there and 3 stars for having the balls to put it up on cinema. I look forward to seeing the DVD.

WELL DONE!!

It was OK

I've only ever watched a couple of horror films before, so I'm by no means any expert on what makes a good horror movie. I guess I'm not used to movies with so much violence, but I took at as just part of the genre. It did strike me though that the film had an intense 'violence against women' vibe that was disturbing. If the goal was to disturb me, then it succeeded. the movie did get boring though, after I got used to the violence a bit more. I can't say I find violence and nothing else entertaining as, it didn't have much of a plot. But then I've seen Hostel, and that didn't have a plot either.

People here are commenting about the special effects, but I thought they were fine It's an indie film so I think they did a good job. the filmmakers might be students? you cant expect them to produce something amazing, and they probably had a small budget. I wasn't bothered by it.

The acting was good, but the script wasn't fantastic. Actually, the actors should be highly commended for the fact they delivered pretty committed performances considering the script was bland and cliché.

As a final word, people are paying out this film, but for a student film/indie film its pretty great!

one of the daftest, dullest films I've seen in an absolute age
spider_trap-21-1555447 April 2011
Warning: Spoilers
COME AND GET ME is feebleness itself, poorly constructed and deeply unterrifying. Sitting through it is a form of torture that far outstrips anything seen on the screen

The actors deserve a little credit for pointing up the psychological horrors where they can, but it's is still a grubby, exploitative film with an extremely guessable twist. Both nubile females and alpha-male douche bags are on the receiving end of pain (that's supposed to nullify accusations of misogyny, is it?), but really, we're all the victims here.

You may get a chuckle from some of the hammiest and most stilted lines, but unintentional laughs aside, this is simply another distasteful, unpleasant exercise in sadism being palmed off as horror. The final scenes of the movie were clearly meant as a bad attempt at a macabre sense of humor, but it was so camp that it proved laughable only in how bad it was in its attempt.

Nothing can save the film from the atrocious acting edit, lackluster directing, and predictable story.

I hope this movie isn't seen in other countries, Our film industry is already viewed as a joke.

I'm actually surprised that after watching the final cut of this, the film makers still decided to expose it to the world. I guess its the case where parents still love their ugly baby. Although in this case they probably should have put it up for adoption. The only feeling that this film invoked in me was embarrassment. Embarrassment for the people who made it that is! I genuinely pity them, but you don't hold grudges against a dog who craps on the rug, just like you cant blame the film makers as its clear that they had no idea what they were doing, in any case my heart truly goes out to the sap who poured his money into this venture.

My advice for next time: Go to your local library and hire out some books on film making The point and shot approach to film making is very dated, maybe change up the camera angles. There is a three act structure to most screenplays, this might be a little advanced so next time just aim for structure.

Editing is more then simply cutting together one shot to the next. But kudos to the editor anyway I guess they did the best with what they had, so good on you champ! Remember there are also books on editing in your local libraries.

Alrighty hope this helps kiddo, Happy shooting tiger!

The actresses were hot, but the plot sucked.
darkdex10310 April 2011
the movie cheats the viewer at every turn. the skin or sin factor is present--NOT!! and if you are going to make a movie with some hottie-GOT TO SHOW SOME SKIN!!routine, formulaic, predictable and boring. the best thing about this movie is the trailer!---anymore than that is GIVE ME MY 90 MINS BACK!!!+MONEY. if I could give this 0 stars I would. this is not even a good BAD film. trust me folks, you have been warned.

the movie took place in nothing but darkness and you could not tell what was happeneing or who was who. So so annoying. This movie p****ed me off. Don't waste your money.
