How is it even possible to write a protagonist as unlikeable as Sam? First he decides to manipulate his dream girl Birdie (who, by the way, is his dream girl based solely on her looks since he&#39;s never talked to her but only stared creepy and longingly at her over his daily coffee) by memorizing her facebook. Then, when he seems to succeed, he flips out and shames Birdie for HIS actions, doing everything but physically abuse her. Then, for reasons unknown to anyone except for the script writers, Birdie chooses Sam anyway. And the audience is supposed to root for them. When, in the pretend-reality that follows an ending like this, Sam continues to verbally abuse and control Birdie based on his jealous imagination and complete lack of self esteem (because he will) I can only hope she ups and leaves him.

Where do I begin? This movie has too many flaws to list. So I&#39;ll just focus on the core issue (the message at the heart of it all): poor (potentially illegal) choices in dating lead to a happy ending?! It was frustrating to watch a wasted opportunity to make a case against &quot;social media stalking&quot; (and showing real world consequences) get flipped into a successful template for finding love. Everything about this story screams wrong. Don&#39;t get me started on crude Vince V (not a fan) with his sexist comment during Sam&#39;s book pitch (deserves an eyeroll and face slap). Yes this story is fiction but the statement it makes about dating (c. 2012) gives the impression it&#39;s good to follow in Sam&#39;s footsteps. That stalking and lying is a good way to start a relationship and this kind of behavior gets rewarded. Shameful, disappointing, not entertaining and def not romantic!! Skip it. This one made me cringe!

I knew this film was going to be cheesy when I chose to watch it on Netflix. I was up for a cheesy one so I gave it a chance. it&#39;s amazing that I was able to watch this thing to the end, because it was so horrible. the only entertaining part about it was the male barista. he did a great job in this movie. however, the writing was full of holes and incredibly unbelievable. first off, if birdie is so amazing, where are any of her friends? the improve chick that she lied to is the only thing close to a friend that the girl has the entire movie. sam has a handful of people that he talks to on his end, including a roommate, but we never even learn why they are living together in the first place or how they know each other. sam has nothing interesting about his character, but somehow this amazing girl falls for him. there&#39;s nothing to fall for! everything is a lie! and worst part of it all, she admits in the end that she knows it&#39;s all a lie and still dug him!! seriously, sam&#39;s roommie and his girlfriend are the friends that come to see the recital at the end, (they barely know each other) and they only purpose of that is so that the viewers get closure on their pathetic subplot. I love busy phillips and this role was sad for her. nothing spicy at all like i&#39;m used to from her. and why did vince Vaughn&#39;s drabby character start saying I love you all of a sudden in the middle of the movie to sam? weird. the most unbelievable thing about this movie is that they ended up together at the end.
