Victory Road 2009 Thoughts *Retro Review*

Victory Road 2009 was the 5th Victory Road PPV event produced by TNA. It took place on July 19, 2009 at the TNA Impact! Zone in Orlando Florida.

A total of 9 matches took place on the card with a major storyline of the Main Event Mafia all needing to win in order to dominate the TNA roster. In storyline, the pressure was on Kurt Angle as he wouldn't allow 1 single victory not from the Mafia. This PPV is often regarded as one of the worst TNA PPVs that the promotion had ever produced.

The Good - I honestly can't say anything really positive about this event. It just can't.

The Meh - I guess the last 3 matches were somewhat okay but they all couldn't even get a 3 star rating from me. The TNA Tag Team Championship match and Joe vs. Sting were interesting but they had crappy endings that were making folks scratch their heads. I will say Earl Hebner able to move faster than James Storm looked way too messed up. The main event was okay but it didn't feel like a quality level main event.

The Bad - Undercard was awful and Sharmell vs. Jeena Moraca was one of the worst women's matches I've ever seen. It may be THE worst. It was pointless and embarrassing. The quality of this show also didn't do well as most of these matches felt like TV matches based on how they were booked. Kurt Angle vs. Mick Foley was more proof of TNA not trusting original talent to carry the company. AJ Styles vs. Kevin Nash was such a lackluster and you had to feel sorry for AJ Styles having to move slow-pace to assist a washed up Kevin Nash. Nash win at the end also made AJ look weak.

Overall - I don't think I would want to watch this show let alone, a match of this card for a very long time. I remember the buildup upon this show being pretty good as I was into the Main Event Mafia around the time but the show itself was just awful and nothing exciting to praise. Even worst, more cringy seeing a bunch old timers walking out the champs against a few stars in their prime.

Score - 2 out of 10: Terrible

0 = Terrible : 1 = Bad/ Lackluster : 2 = Decent : 3 = Good : 4 = Awesome : 5 = One of the Best of all Time :

2. Daniels vs. Matt Morgan - 1/5

3. Dr. Stevie vs. Abyss (No DQ) - 1/5
