- The "unknown trainers" are finally revealed, and both will share their personal stories that led them to "The Biggest Loser." Their contestants, "the unknowns," confront one player they feel isn't working hard enough, and later, "the unknowns" and the ranch contestants square off for a pop challenge. The winning player from each group will get a delicious healthy dinner prepared by Chef Curtis Stone, and compete for a coveted 2 lb. advantage at this week's weigh-in. Later, Dr. Huizenga gives "the unknowns" startling news about their health, and one player is surprised to learn they have the highest percentage of body fat in the group. Meanwhile, trainers Bob Harper and Jillian Michaels single out a few of their contestants to find out what really led to their weight gain, and then the ranch contestants meet host Alison Sweeney for a water-carrying challenge that will give the winner the sole vote at this week's elimination. Later, a surprising weigh-in -- which results in shocking numbers for one team -- disappoints the trainers in a big way, leading to the elimination of one player they feel isn't ready to go home.—NBC Publicity
- As the on-ranch contestants outperformed the off-ranch contestants at the last weigh-in, no one was sent home following that weigh-in. The two new trainers are finally revealed as Brett Hoebel, a trainer specializing in martial arts, and 'Cara Castronova', an ex-golden gloves boxer. All the contestants converge on the ranch for the first time since day one for the reward challenge, which is to see who can balance an egg on an inverted frying pan the longest. Each winner from the on-ranch and off-ranch groups gets a meal with and prepared by Chef Curtis Stone, with one of those two getting a two pound advantage (this week if the winner is an on-ranch contestant, and the first week back on the ranch if the winner is an off-ranch contestant) based on an additional calorie counting challenge at that meal. As he did with the on-ranch contestants last week, Dr. Huizenga evaluates the health of the off-ranch contestants. As they go through the training this week, each trainer focuses on a few contestants who either are facing additional health issues or seem not to have yet gotten into a proper groove in their lifestyle transformation. The pop challenge, only for the on-ranch contestants, is one of transporting water. The winning team of the pop challenge will have the only vote at the weigh-in this week. Both sets of challenges demonstrate the strong team mentality of the contestants. The results of the weigh-in sadden and disappoint Bob and Jillian.—Huggo
- Open with us finally learning the identity of the two "unknown" trainers. Cara is a boxer who wants us to know she is not a celebrity trainer. Brett is the male trainer. He's been a fitness trainer for 20 years and has a background in martial arts and science.
The Unknowns discuss where they came up short last week and Red team's Q is called out individually, particularly by the Yellow guys.
The Ranchers meet with Alison. After a few moments two dark pull up with the Unknowns. With a dark curtain separating the teams she explains this week's pop challenge. The player from each side who can balance an egg on an upside down frying pan wins dinner with Curtis Stone, along with a chance to compete for a two-point weight advantage.
The Unknowns come up with a strategy. They intentionally allow Deni to win, tossing their eggs across the curtain at the Ranchers. Ranchers start dropping off, and eventually Marci edges Don to the victory.
It is the Unknowns turn to meet with Dr. Huizenga. 27-year old Q is told his excess fat means he is has as much time left as a 51-year old. Yellow team's Justin has an inner-age 20 years higher than his 39 years. Ken has diabetes and his son Austin is even worse-off than his father was at the same age. Austin, who is 20, has an inner-age of 44. Pink team's Sarah has the highest body fat percentage of anyone on the show. She has never really bounced back muscle-wise from a car accident. Moses has a laundry list of serious medical issues, including a 50/50 chance of suffering a stroke in the next five years and a predicted death date in 2025.
After Cara and Brett discuss losing last week they put the Unknowns through a tough workout. Cara likes what she sees in Q today. Brett puts several of the guys through tough workouts in the ring and pays special attention to Sarah and Austin.
While Bob holds things down in the gym Jillian takes Dan and Don on a hike. Jennifer is excited about turning a corner in her life. Bob takes the Purple team aside and talks Hannah through issues related to an accident which ended her sports career. Jillian uses the hike to try and get the brothers more engaged. Dan talks about being homesick and how he has handled the death of his son.
Marci and Deni meet with Curtis Stone. They will help him prepare lunch and afterwards the one who does a better job guessing the calorie count of the food will win the two-pound advantage. Stone makes a salad and halibut entre. The women discuss the trainers over food. Stone helps them through a pear dessert. Marci estimates 480 calories for the entire meal, while Deni goes 440. The actual count was 572 and Marci wins.
The Ranchers learn this week's challenge from Alison. Teams must pump water into 100-pound drums and roll them a quarter-mile to an area with tubs for each team. When a team has their tub filled they are eliminated. The final team left wins the only vote this week. Irene will be going by herself.
The Blue team is targeted by the first few teams and they are eliminated before getting up the hill even once. Black team is targeted next and several of the teams say the plan is to leave Irene around to cast the vote. The next teams goes down quickly and everyone seems happy for Irene.
The trainers pop in on the Ranchers during lunch. They fill Bob and Jillian in about the challenge. Dan makes a few comments that hint at his wanting to go home and see his family and the trainers aren't happy.
Last chance workout. Irene's a little nervous about having such a good week last week. Jay is 15 pounds from 349 and is using that as his goal. Today is the first time all week Arthur has been able to get in the gym this week.
Weigh-in time. Before getting going Alison tells them the Unknowns had a strong week. Q had a good rebound week. We learn that since Irene doesn't have a partner she's automatically gone if she's below the yellow line.
Aqua team is up first. They are down a combined 13 pounds, with Marci down seven (to 211) and Courtney down six to 292. Courtney isn't thrilled. With Marci's two-pound advantage their percentage of weight lost is 2.91.
Irene is up next, needing at least seven pounds to beat Aqua. She has lost eight pounds (to 224) and will be safe this week. Green is next and Jay's 15-pound goal is discussed. They need to have lost at least 18 pounds to be safe. They are down 22, with Jennifer down eight (to 242) and Jay one pound shy of his goal at 350. The pair has lost 86 pounds in three weeks.
Blue team needs to have lost at least 22 pounds to be safe. They are instead down just 13, with Arthur having lost only four pounds (to 459) and Jesse down to 269. Bob references that Arthur's been out the gym, on antibiotics and that Huizenga has upped his caloric intake. Bob seems dead-serious about the fact Arthur cannot go home.
Purple needs to have lost more than eight pounds to be above the yellow line. They toss up identical six pounds weeks -- Olivia to 233 and Hannah to 220 -- and are safe. Black team is up next needing to have lost more than nine pounds to be safe.
To the absolute shock of everyone the team has actually gained 18 pounds, with each of the twins having put on exactly nine pounds, Dan to 272 and Don to 289. Bob tells us this must have been deliberate and he is offended because of the thousands of people who want to be on the show and aren't able to. Jillian says she thinks it's just sad.
Not surprisingly Irene casts her vote for the homesick Dan. Dan promises us he will be successful at home. We see in his vignette that Dan is down to 215, having lost 57 pounds since being home.
