Pitou get some leave, so he goes to see his girlfriend, the cook at a house. When her other boyfriend comes in, she makes Pitou hide in the coal bin/garbage can, with the typical results for a slapstick comedy.
Pathe made several short comedies about the ill-fated army man over the next few years, including at least one with Max Linder. The others have no cast listed in the IMDb, which reflects a truism about film making in this period. The companies like Pathe wanted some continuity to their movies, to bring the audience bac. They wanted a star system, but they didn't want t pay the performers the large salaries that stars could be expected to draw, so they used screen names, like Pitou .... but the names were attached to the performer, but the studio. A talented screen comic might be in demand, and jump from one studio to the next, but his screen name stayed behind, and frequently he had to start all over again.
