- The drama continues to escalate as 14 fortunate bachelorettes try to stake their claim to Brad's heart. But the week gets off to a mysterious start when one baffled bachelorette wakes up with a black eye - and has no clue about how she got it. Did she fall while sleep walking or is it just a disturbing ploy to get Brad's attention? The Bachelor has an underwater fantasy in mind when he takes Chantal on a one-on-one date to beautiful Catalina Island, but the thought of submerging to the ocean floor has the nervous bachelorette wondering if she left her sense of adventure on shore. A group of the ladies have one of the most revealing dates of the season as they join Brad as guests on an emotional radio show where secrets are uncovered about the women's love lives. And the bruised Michelle finds out she must take a courageous leap of faith with Brad or risk falling from his favor. Finally, Emily becomes the target of fiery jealousy among the women when Brad offers her a special picnic right before the rose ceremony.—ABC Publicity
- Aggressive and creepy Michelle wakes up with a black eye -- an unexplained black eye. "Maybe its stress," she tells the camera. "I will have Brad kiss my eye and it will make it better." Host Chris then arrives to hand out the next date card. The one-on-one date goes to ... Chantal! "Today I get him all to myself and it's huge," she tells the camera. "This could be a make or break date of my life." Suddenly, a helicopter arrives to pick up Brad and Chantal. Chantal, who has apparently never seen a previous episode of the show (helicopters are about as common as roses), is SUPER EXCITED that Brad has arranged for a high-altitude ride. "This date could definitely change my life forever," she says.
The helicopter lands and Brad announces that the pair will walk on the sea floor. Chantal can't believe it. "Yeah," Brad says. "Swear to God." So the happy couple dons wet suits and dive helmets. Chantal is terrified, but her love for Brad overrides the fear of death. "He's worth it," she tells the camera. After barely surviving the ocean shallows, Chantal cozies up to Brad with a glass of wine. She explains that she hasn't really dated since her divorce, but has surprisingly strong feelings for the Bradster. They make out.
Back at the house, Michelle is crying. She is apparently so distraught over her commitment to Brad that she isn't sleeping or eating. Also, Michelle doesn't have very nice things to say about Chantal. "If she comes home tonight, we all have to watch out," Michelle tells the camera. Meanwhile, Chantal is doing her best to make sure she is coming home tonight. She apologizes for slapping Brad upon meeting him, but he says he "loves" her playfulness. Brad then gives Chantal a rose. "You made today seem very real to me -- like something that could happen in real life," he tells her. They make out.
The next day, Brad takes the ladies to "Love Line with Dr. Drew." That's right: You can't escape Dr. Drew no matter how hard you might try. He is (almost) literally on every single show on TV. Stacey, meanwhile, has a "sense of how reputable Dr. Drew is." She then admits -- live on air -- that she cheated on a boyfriend in college. Brad, rather than pulling away, is impressed with her honesty. "Wow, this date was a perfect idea," Brad tells the camera. "They're telling me so many things and I'm loving it." Later that night, Brad hosts a hot-tub party with the ladies. Stacey pulls Brad away -- much to the charging of Ashley H., who confesses to jealous feelings. "I think fear and frustration are my top two emotions right now," she says. Jackie deems Ashley H. "exhausting." We agree.
So Ashley H. interrupts Brad with Alli ... and then interrupts Brad with Britt (in mid make out, no less). Ashley H. then proceeds to ramble incoherently for a few minutes about how she cares for Brad and how it's hard to watch him with the other girls and blah, blah, blah, blah. "I suck," she says. Brad is confused. He had such a strong connection with Ashley H. on their first date -- and now she is clearly unable to deal. Later, Brad gives Britt a rose. "It's exciting!" she squeals. Ashley H., however, is upset. The next morning, Ashely H. regrets her emotional behavior. "I'm having a hard time dealing with, like, all the emotions," she tells the camera. It's, like, totally difficult.
Brad then pulls Ashley H. aside -- despite the fact that he is scheduled to go on a one-on-one date with creepy Michelle. Not surprisingly, Michelle is ANGRY. Ashley H., meanwhile, continues to mope. Brad encourages her to buck up and know that he likes her. "I feel so much better," Ashley H. tells her potential beau. Inside the house, Chantal informs Michelle that her behavior is hypocritical considering that the creepy gal has made "a scene" more than once already. Creepy Michelle vehemently disagrees before leaving on her date with Brad. The bachelor then drives Michelle to his bachelor pad ... and a helicopter arrives! One long helicopter ride later, Brad announces that the pair is going to repel down the side of a high rise. "I'm really afraid of heights," Michelle confesses through tears. "I don't know if I can get through this ... I'm freaking out."
Shockingly (not really), Michelle manages to repel down the side of the building. She even makes out with Brad while hanging dozens of stories above the ground. "I really needed to find that inner strength," says the young mother. "It was the most amazing experience of my whole life." Much is made of overcoming fear -- the resulting sense of bonding. They make out. Later, Brad asks about Michelle's divorce and child. "I want to meet her," the bachelor says. Michelle, meanwhile, is very confidant that Brad would make a good father figure. So the kid issue is settled, apparently. Later, Brad gives Michelle a rose while the two relax in the pool. She accepts. They make out.
The next day, Brad gets permission from his therapist to fully "explore" his romantic feelings with the ladies. Read: It's OK to make out with multiple partners. Brad really appreciates the advice/validation ... and puts therapy into practice at the cocktail party by quickly making out with Shawntel. He then pulls aside beautiful Emily and presents a tray complete with pillows and champagne. "We are recreating out little vineyard date," he tells the camera. The other ladies are EXTREMELY JEALOUS. They all note that Brad has never done anything like that during a cocktail party. Chantal, though she has a rose, feels "dumb" for considering herself extra special in Brad's eyes. She begins to weep. Later, she confronts Brad -- and accuses him of making bonds with "emotionally unstable" women. "It scares me," Chantal says. "I'm not used to feeling like this."
Brad then offers his own special brand of wisdom: "Please be confident in the fact that I am so wildly attracted to the fact that you're everything that I've not been with in my past." Amazingly, Chantal seems to understand. They make out. Rose ceremony time! Brad gives flowers to ... Ashley S. ... Alli ... Emily ... Shawntel ... Lisa ... Jackie ... Marissa ... and -- finally -- Ashley H. So it's goodbye to Meghan, Lindsay and Stacey. Brad tells the remaining women that "this is very real." Until next week's realness ...
