The mean girl in this show, she has eyes that spew evil, even when she smiles. She seemed very familiar, yet I'd never seen her before. After having this play on the background and glancing off & on, I've finally placed her! Or rather, her comic impression that she's doing: she's impersonating Blair in Facts of Life! Her every move, her looks, her breathing even, is pure Lisa Whelchel in that show. And it's very annoying. She makes this show unwatchable.
I keep reading reviews complaining about one Lou. That actress doesn't bother me, and she's pretty and not annoying. But this Cathy Busby? Or Cindy or whatever?! Quit doing Lisa Whelchel and get a personality of your own! That sucks! I hate copycats, I seriously do!
Honestly? This show has way too many seasons for me to come in almost 20 years later and try to make heads or tails of it and get invested in it. I don't have the energy, folks! Instead, I read plenty of reviews. When I read that on YT video, a show's creator said it's just to show scenery and horses and the drama is secondary, so that the show is not boring, I became disinterested. How can you care about such characters?! It's not exactly that they don't have any screen presence, they don't lack that, but everyone lacks charisma. Everyone is pretty lackluster. The first few episodes I watched a couple weeks ago when I found this show, I thought the girl Amy was good and she seemed to be lead. Now, that has shifted. She's barely in it. The rebel type guy ("Ty"?) seems like he could be interesting but I find the actor playing him bland and not giving it his all.
Also... could they all be dressed any worse!? WHO is the costumer, here?! I know this isn't a runway SATC type show, but brother!? Do they all have to dress like they're out of Roseanne or Northern Exposure? Same type of unsightly clothes. At least match your colors and don't mix stripes with checkered with plaid with polka dots and other busy prints. Oh, there goes the Blair wanna-be actress. She just said "am I boring you?" Why, yes, you are! And so does this entire show. Why does she have to play it so snooty and with evil eyes? I don't get that!
Could have been good, yet another lackluster production from Canada, folks!
