An Awesome Documentary !!

Warning: Spoilers
I found this at a half price book store. Put out by Alpha Video. I know the score with them. Interesting catalog. Just be careful what you buy. DVDs as a rule are priced reasonably well.

I went into this thinking a documentary on the subject matter was a good idea. Explains my purchasing it. I've been a casual fan of Hammer Films for years now. I always admired Christopher Lee's acting skills. He made such a cool Dracula.

Broken into different chapters, this documentary covers the whole history of Hammer Films. Not that old. Shot in the year 2008. Actual interviews and comments from many of those associated with Hammer Films, including Sir Christopher Lee.

The wraparound art / cover of the DVD leads one to believe that it may be actual convention footage. Not so much, which is a good thing. The interviews are mostly behind the scenes. It just happens they are appearing as guests, and besides doing meet and greets, decided to participate with the documentary. I'm glad they did. It's for the record books now. A well documented documentary. How cool is that? If a fan of B-Films / low budget / independent films, Hammer was the little film company that could. At least until the steam ran out. Isn't that usually the case.

No information on the studios recent comeback into the general eye. This is all about it's glory days, and those associated with it. Comments made by Lee regarding Cushing will break your heart. He talks about the last time he saw the then ailing actor...his old time friend. Ingrid Pitt and a bevy of beauties that was Hammer, are also included.

For me, this was a perfect documentary on the subject. I recommend for fans or those interested and just getting into Hammer's catalog.

Note: I do a daily column for a internet classic rock radio station. Classic rock...entertainment in general. I might even post this review on there one day. A large part of the subscribers hail from the UK. I imagine interest...
