Jack: unique, multifaceted writer well worth a movie!

The movie isn't out yet, but let's get this ball rolling! :) I've rated it fairly, middle of the road, not playing favorites. Yet.

How can it go wrong? We'll find out... Hopefully soon! Jack Saunders is a one-of-a-kind. As Raymond Barrio said, "From his hideaway in Florida, like a super-energized lobster, Saunders lashes out at the hypocrisy which is deadening our senses and rotting our souls. It is Saunders' adamant, boneheaded persistence that is his great gift to a society staggering in its own materialistic greed. Saunders is America at its best." In the no-holds-barred "Florida writer" tradition, Saunders writes about everyday life, about what it's like to work while being true to oneself and one's family and society. He writes about how this effort relates to the world around him, other authors, books, movies, music, cooking, his life, work, progress.

He lives on the coast of the Panhandle -- a vortex of forces, tensions and heritage -- and he reports on the drama.

He's been around awhile -- 300 books, 40 years! -- writing and participating in the Underground, starting from the Beat Era and moving through the Mail Art scene and the Zine Revolution and now the online Reality-Based Community.

He's been particularly close to the Americana Roots music and Bluegrass scenes, due to he and Brenda raising both their sons in those milieus and watching them become musicians. This figures into his work, as does the "locavore" cooking that the family and their relatives have long been noted for.

The most famous unknown, underground, unpublisher (or underpublished) American writer ever -- how can it be? Watch the movie and see! It's great to see this documentary happen. I'm a longtime fan and I look forward to seeing the movie and helping to spread word about it online and watching it take off in the new-old way that uplifts good media today.

Any word on a release date or how to buy a DVD?
