Hardcore Hilarity!

I didn't know what to expect when I saw the ad and review for this movie in my local paper. It said that it was a locally produced metal musical comedy and that intrigued me as I love the idea of homegrown entertainment. The poster made it seem like a Hollywood Comedy like "Joe Dirt" or "National Lampoon's Vacation" but I was skeptical that a locally made, low budget movie could be THAT entertaining. The makers of this movie definitely knew their metal. They reference bands and songs that only a true headbanger would know. The humor is also quite raunchy and wrong in a good way. That's the benefit of it being far away from watered down Hollywood. Without giving too much away there is something in this movie to offend almost anyone. The first third of the movie is a fast paced roller coaster ride that doesn't seem low budget at all. In the middle and towards the end it starts to drag a little while still managing some very funny moments but even then it has plenty of surprises. If you run across this movie either on Netflix or a video store or wherever and you like metal music or messed up comedy, give it a watch. It's totally worth it!

If you are into metal you will totally get this movie. There are umpteen hilarious moments. This movie is campy but still captures much of metal culture and the lifestyle. You will see yourself in it.

Metal Messiah:Born Again Sage works in many ways and it's always fun to laugh at one's self. Metal is often discounted by the masses and really, that's how we like it.

A particular favorite scene is where Sage and his buddies invent a metal language and the viewer has to be fairly immersed in metal to even understand this scene, but to those of us who do, it's gold.

Metal is always best served by metalheads...for metalheads. If it's not we can see it coming like an undercover cop.

If you like metal, you will like this film.

The real born again sage !!!

The movie has a ton of potential due to the lead character. Would love to see what the movie would have been like with a 100k budget. The name of Sage's band Ni**er Christ is classic, a long with the acting from the drummer. A few hot chicks in the movie wasn't bad either. The guy in the movie with the blonde wig was very funny, would of loved to see more of him through out the film. I would definitely recommend this movie to my friends.

The movie has a lot of funny parts, definitely better the 2nd and 3rd time I watched !!! The lead character is a natural fix for the part. I give the Sage character a 9 out 10..

off the edge hilarious

what a no holds barred example of in your face metalhead comedy. hilarious. I laughed out loud probably twenty times while watching this perfect mess. If you loved The English Patient, can't wait to see the sequel to Dances With Wolves (aka Avatar), or can't understand why there was never an Any Given Sunday 2: Snap This, then you should never watch this movie. It's a headbangin', hell-raisin, demonically speaking, good f**king time. It's an amazing example of an original voice. Only a twisted qenius could come up with such a unique approach to a subject that has gotten it's share of comedic adaptation, but this one blows all of it out of the water. It was obviously made on the cheap, but who gives a damn. Funny is funny.

the most slayer movie ever!

If you are a fan of metal, this movie will instantly be in your top ten favorite films, probably at the top. If your brother, daughter, mom or dog likes metal, and you don't, you will still love this movie because its got a lot of 'its funny cause its true' value. That being said Born Again Sage is hilarious on its own whatever music you might like, but it is about a heavy metal dude, so if there is one in your life or you're one yourself, it'll hit close to home and make you laugh your ass off even more.

The production value of the movie is impressive, especially considering the shoe string budget. At times I forgot that i was watching a movie made in my home town by people I've met and thought i was watching something made in a Hollywood film studio. The acting is good too, at times cheesy, but in a good way that lends itself to the films cult classic appeal. Besides, its a comedy not Shakespeare! I really hope that Born Again Sage gets out into the world and plays in more theaters. Its one of my favorite movies and it would be a CRIME if the world didn't get to bask in its metally goodness.

On a side note, Nick Wells the writer/director/lead is a pretty damn cool guy. He was in attendance at the theater and joined me and my friends at the bar across the street where we expanded the metal language lexicon (if you've seen the movie you'll understand.) Then he took us to his house and showed us where some scenes were shot (hell was in his front yard) and gave us autographed fliers for the film.

SAGE NEGADETH FOR PRESIDENT!

Evil or Divine

In a world of Sorcerers and Dragons, where good thrives and evil survives, where only Metal Lives, out steps a man dedicated to head bangin, hell raisin, and shredding in the best f*cking band ever! This movie is epicly brilliant! A true Metal fan would appreciate this movie. It was hilarious! I saw the movie 4 times in the same week. The first night, the tickets were sold out! I'm glad I purchased my tickets early, I walked inside so I could hear and the guy beside me gave me a beer! Every single night, the metal heads in the audience went wild with laughter and were so into the movie. A lot of "Hell Yah!" and "Slayer!" and horns up in the air! Nick Wells (Sage Negadeth) was present at almost every showing and is just plain awesome! He sang Destruction for my friends and I, had beers with us and showed us where all the creativity happened. This movie is not only funny, it is unique and has a lot of originality. If you know Metal, you can totally relate to it. I really hope this guy Nick creates more films in his time. A true inspiration for anyone who was born and raised on Metal!

Great to discover such a small indie with a huge passion and soul. Lively and humorous and loud, humble and sweet and full of love for cinema, metal music, and truth-telling. Yes, metallers could be truth-tellers. Cause that's not to be monopolized by some. Long live, Sages of this world!
