One of Brian's funniest episodes
I_hatenazis2 December 2013
Brian, who considers himself a liberal intellectual, is frustrated that no one bought his serious novel so he agrees with Stewie to write one of those cheesy self help books and it becomes an overnight sensation. In the last segment of the show he is interviewed by Bill Maher and Ariana Huffington in what has got to be one of the funniest TV segments of Family Guy ever written. For one thing, only Brian is animated so it reproduces Bill Maher's show to a T. Secondly, while Brian comes in with a swagger expecting a powder puff interview, Bill Maher uses his quick wit and humor to justifiably eviscerate the shallowness of Brian's book. This episode was actually well written because normally you might feel sorry for Brian because he is a nice guy but in the previous part of the show he was a diva and a total jerk to Stewie who was the one most responsible for his success. Therefore, Brian is getting his well deserved comeuppance, being dressed down by one of his liberal icons.

I have no idea why this episode is only rated 7.0 at the time of this review putting it in the lower half of Family Guy shows unless there are people that hate Bill Maher so much they are just dinging it. I am a conservative but I appreciate good humor when I see it and Bill Maher's material as he was interviewing Brian and re-creating his show for Family Guy was pure gold.

If you enjoy Brian's character at all then watch this episode and if you agree with me that it is better than a 7.0, please vote and give this episode its well deserved higher rating.

The One Where Brian Writes A Self-Help Book...

Warning: Spoilers
I love this episode so much. It's so funny and it just makes me happy that even nine seasons in, Family Guy writers continue to give us many laughs every week.

In this episode, Brian is very upset about the way his writing career is going. And by going, I mean it's going no where. Brian hates self helps books, and says that he could write one in one day, Stewie challenges him to do so. It turns out that the book is a huge success and becomes a best-seller. Brian goes on talk shows and then the fame goes to his head. Meanwhile, Lois decides that she and Peter need to have separate beds, then Peter misses the cuddling, so he must find someone new to snuggle with.

Overall, I give this episode a 9 out of 10.

If Brian wasn't awful before, he sure is now

This episode made me hate Brian Griffin even more. He's just a jerk who yells at Stewie (an infant) all because he accidentally messed things up. Now I hope Brian goes to hell for everything he has done.

Brian at his worst

How can people look at this episode and say that it's good?! Family Guy sucks in general, but this episode doesn't make up for how much I hate Brian throughout. Just watching a scene of him arguing with Stewie outside the restaurant while promoting his book just makes you want to slap him right on the nose. And this doesn't change throughout. Brian is still an obnoxious and annoying twit like everyone else in the show. And every joke in this episode is tasteless as hell. Would this be the worst Family Guy episode out there? Not really. But it is one of the worst. Go ahead, enjoy it while you can, but I must warn you: It really is that bad.
