Ally and her guardian, Uncle David, meet with a lawyer, Pugh, who tells Ally that a trust has been established her name, and the house will be hers. However, to receive her inheritance, Ally has to look after a pendant. David, saying the pendant has destroyed her family for generations. Despite that, Ally takes the pendant and Pugh tells David to leave. Once David leaves, Pugh says that her father was close and it's up to her to finish her father's work.
The Present Ally looks at the pendant, and tells her assistant to prepare some tea, because they have an important guest coming and she wants to show her everything.
In the Kent kitchen, the family gathers and Clark worries about pulling John into the situation where he got injured. Lois says that it's her fault about Lucy, and she didn't listen to her or believe Ally talking about shadow dimensions and mirror selves. She wonders if the creature, a dark duplicate of Clark, is related to what Ally has been talking about. Lois says that she's going to go through her notes and see if she can find a connection. The family talk about Sarah's quinceañera, and they figure it won't be canceled because of John's injury and shouldn't be. Lois tells Clark makes sure the people coming to decorate the barn for the party have everything they need.
At the Cushing house, Sarah and Kyle are practicing dancing for the quinceañera, while Lana looks on. Kyle invites Lana to dance with her, and they dance while Sarah looks on, disgusted. The bartender from the bar, Tonya Martinez, calls Kyle. He tells his family that it's work, and Sarah says that she's still going to change her family name back to Cortez, like her family did when they came to Smallville.
An injured Tag is in the hospital, and Superman comes in to check on him. Tag worries that the creature is still on the loose, and Superman asks where the pendant is that they took from the creature. Tag says that he gave it to Mitch, and Superman assures him that he did the right thing, and Tag should rest up. As Superman goes, Tag thanks him for saving his life.
At the Kent farm, Sam arrives and Jordan goes to greet him. Jon notices Jordan's sudden interest in their grandfather, and Jordan asks his brother not to tell his parents. Sam comes over and says that he wants Jordan be prepared to help Clark, and Jon agrees. Their grandfather asks Jon to help with Jordan's training, and they need his help to test Jordan's baseline.
At the Gazette, Chrissy comes in and finds Lois going over some of her old Ally videos. Lois explains that she's trying to find something she missed, and picks up on the fact that Chrissy is mad at her. Chrissy says that Lois acts like she's her boss, and says that Lois only gives her the information she wants Chrissy. Lois apologizes, and Chrissy says that if she wants to find out the truth, she'll have to find it herself. After she walks out, Lois notices Faulkner in one of the Ally videos.
Sarah is walking down the street, and the creature watches her from several miles up and away, with its telescopic vision.
Superman goes to see Mitch at the DoD base, and says that Mitch was supposed to tell him when he found the creature, rather than send his own team. Mitch insists that he thought they were his best option, and Superman points out they weren't ready for the creature. The soldier insists that were soldiers trained to protect their country, and asks Superman why he didn't tells him about the creature that looks just like him. Superman insists that he'll stop it, and he's only there to get the pendant. Mitch asks what it is, and Superman admits that he doesn't know but figures that he can find the creature by using it. The soldier points out that the energy field around them grows stronger every time they confront each other. Superman insists that Mitch hand over the pendant so he can track the creature down, but Mitch refuses. He tells Superman to bring him the creature, and then they'll discuss giving Superman the pendant.
At the barn, Sam puts Jordan and Jon through pushups. Jordan admits that he could have done better but didn't want to show up Jon. Sam tells Jordan to do it again, and sends Jon to get some water.
At the Cushing house, Sarah puts on her dress and heels, and shows herself to Lana. Lana says that Sarah looks beautiful, and helps her learn to walk in the high-heeled shoes. She assures Sarah that Kyle loves her, and he wanted to do something special for her.
Clark goes to the Gazette to meet with Lois, and tells her that Mitch didn't give him the pendant because he thinks Superman is using it to power up. Lois is heading to the mines to check on Faulkner, and tells Clark that Faulkner is one of Ally's disciples and helped summon the creature. She asks Clark to get her dress from the dry cleaner, and leaves.
At the motel, Chrissy meets with Ally and talks about the Ascension, and Ally explains that her family has believed in the Ascension for generations. Chrissy asks for more details, and Ally says that she wants people to learn about the truth. She says that she can prove it, and Chrissy realizes that Ally drugged her tea before passing out. Ally's assistant catches Chrissy, and Ally says that it won't be long.
At the mines, Lois goes into Faulkner's trailer and finds the creature there. It stares at Lois and then flies off, and Lois finds Faulkner on the floor dead, her neck broken. Lois calls Superman in, and she tells him that the creature was there. She wonders why the creature would kill Faulkner but spare her, and finds a magazine cover with Ally's face on it, and a headline about the Ascension.
The assistant tells Ally that Chrissy has been unconscious for seven minutes, and Ally says that every journey has its own pace, and the pendant around Chrissy's neck should guide Chrissy. Chrissy wakes up, gasping, and Ally tells her that she's ascended.
In the house, Jon contemplates the breather and then takes some. In the barn, Jordan is punching a bag as Sam looks on. Jon comes in and says that Jon needs to spar with him to learn how to fight. Jordan finally agrees and the two fight, and exchange blows. Jon manages to duck Jordan blows and land several punches, until Sam stops Jon and says that it's enough. Angry, Jon tells Sam that he's training the wrong kid and walks out.
Kyle's mother arrives and congratulates Kyle on his family. She takes a photo of the family.
Chrissy tells Ally that she was a bizarre version of herself, and Ally tells Chrissy that it was the missing half of herself. Ally was everywhere in Chrissy's vision. Lois and Superman come in, and Lois says that Ally is in danger. Ally doesn't believe it, and Lois tells her that Faulkner was murdered. Superman hears the creature coming and pushes Ally out of the way as the creature smashes through the wall and smashes Superman out the opposite wall. Lois says that they have to get out there.
Superman and the creature land in an abandoned warehouse, and the creature speaks backward, telling Superman to get out of its way. Superman refuses to let it kill anyone else, and the two fight. It unleashes a burst of flame breath, which Superman counters with his ice breath. It then uses it's ice vision to freeze Superman in place, and prepares to kill him. Superman realizes that the creature is the opposite of him, breaks free of the ice, and knocks the creature up into the sky while punching it. They land down by the mines, and Superman manages to knock the creature out after he picks up pieces of the X-Kryptonite to use as brass knuckles.
At the quinceañera in the Kent barn, Lana is shocked to see that her father came. Meanwhile, Jon and Jordan approach Sarah and Jordan stares at Sarah in surprise. Lana and Kyle look on, and Lana suggests that Sarah show the brothers the table.
Clark arrives at the farmhouse and tells Lois that the creature is at the Fortress, and puts on his suit for the party. He and his wife go out, where everyone dances now. Jordan approaches Jon and asks what his problem is, and Jon tells him that he thinks everything is about him. He says that he's getting stronger and walks off, and Sarah comes over to Jordan and says that she needs some air.
Clark and Lois come in and Kyle greets them. Kyle gets a text from Tonya and excuses himself.
Jordan and Sarah go out to sit on the porch, and Jon talks about how he and Jon argued. Sarah figures there's a reason Jon changed his personality, and she talks about the depression she went through and how Jon might be doing the same. She advises Jordan not to let it go, and they kiss.
Kyle finds Tonya outside, and she points out that he's been ghosting her. She admits that she told her girlfriend about them, and thought they were going to get married like Kyle said he wanted them to marry. Tonya says that her friend might have sold the story to the Dean campaign because she needed the money, and thought Kyle should know. She tells Kyle that all she wanted to do was be with him, and walks off. Kyle goes back to the party, unaware that Jordan and Sarah are watching from the shadows and heard the whole thing.
At the party, Kyle finds Clark, and Kyle sees Dean with Lana. He tells Clark that he made a huge mistake and his family is going to pay for it, and walks over to Dean and Lana. Dean makes veiled comments about family secrets, and Kyle excuses himself to find Sarah for the father-daughter dance. Lana goes with him, thanks Kyle for "saving" her from Dean, and kisses him.
Chrissy is getting food, and Lois approaches her and asks why she didn't tell her she was going to see Ally. When Chrissy says that she needed to be objective, Lois objects and Chrissy points out that Lois has been keeping secrets from her. Lois apologizes, and Chrissy tells her that they need to talk about what happened in the motel room before Lois arrived. She says that Ally drugged her and had her cross over to another world where she saw another version of herself. It was everything Lucy described, and Chrissy says that everyone in the other world, Ally has taken over. Chrissy tells Lois that Ally is dangerous and that they need to do something.
As Lana comes over and thanks Clark for letting them have the quinceañera there, and says that he's always there when it matters, the father-daughter dance begins. Sarah comas out and Kyle puts a tiara on her, and then dances with her. Sarah can't look at her father and cries. Kyle asks what's wrong, and asks Kyle how he could do it. She says that she heard him talking to Tonya and runs out. Kyle and Lana go after her,
They catch up to Sarah outside, and Sarah tells Kyle to tell Lana what she saw. Lana realizes that it's Tonya, and refuses to talk to Kyle about the situation. She tells Sarah that it's her night, and they're going to deal with it as a family but first they're going to go in and celebrate Sarah's adulthood. Sarah calms down, ignores Kyle, and goes in with Lana.
Inside, Lana thanks the guests for coming and talks about parenthood. She says that Sarah is someone who will always fight for what is right, and tells her daughter that she's her inspiration and her heart. They hug as everyone applauds, while Clark hears his via his super-hearing, telling him that the creature is awake.
Clark flies to the Fortress, and Lara says that the creature is the opposite of Clark, and she's rigged a way to translate the creature's speech. It says that it should have killed Clark, and it's there to save its world and theirs.
At the Kent farmhouse, Jon apologizes to Jordan about what happened to Sarah. Jordan asks Jon what's going on, and Jon angrily snaps at his brother. Jon's eyes flare with heat vision, and he says that they just started coming in and he wanted to get a feel for them. Jordan wants to tell their parents, but Jon stops him and asks for a bit longer so Clark won't pull him off the team. Jordan gets a call from Sarah and says that he has to step out to take it, but promises they'll talk about it later.
The creature says that it's a soldier, and there are casualties in war. Clark points out that they're not at war, and the creature says that they are at war and Ally will destroy Clark's friends and family... unless Clark kills her first.
