Jennifer Asbenson is a member of an extremely select club, one of little more than a handful of people to survive a serial killer. Although when she was kidnapped and raped by Andrew Urdiales, she escaped with her life, she nearly lost her mind. This documentary is seen largely through her eyes. Although he was not brought to book for years, when he was at last arrested, he fessed up to the murders he had committed locally then calmly informed the police he had committed other crimes in California, including Jennifer's abduction.
With his voluntary confession backed by overwhelming forensic evidence and Jennifer's eyewitness identification, his only possible defense at trial was one of insanity. The jury recognised him for what he is, evil and culpable, whatever his state of mind. He was sentenced to death, but at the time of writing has not been executed. In May this year he was convicted of another five murders and again sentenced to death.
