Jersey Boys (2014)

Goofs

Jersey Boys

Continuity

At the end when Frankie is performing solo with the single drummer, the drummer's hair is neatly combed. However, during a side view, the drummer has a cowlick over one eye. which is gone when a frontal view is again shown.
During the opening barbershop scene, the shaving cream on Christopher Walken's face varies from shot to shot. The soap above his lip appears and disappears and then comes back.
As Bob comes into the diner while it's snowing and takes a seat, the snowflakes in his hair appear, disappear and then reappear throughout the scene.
When they are traveling in the Cadillacs with The Angels, the red Cadillac is in front of the blue one to begin with but the cars change places without being passed as the segment progresses.

Factual errors

For the appearance on American Bandstand they are shown with a Fender Telecaster guitar and Fender Precision bass, which they had been playing before. In reality, they were playing a Gibson Firebird guitar and a Gibson Thunderbird bass.
When the group enters the bowling alley to perform in 1960, behind the bowing alley's owner is a ball return from the '70s. Also this particular ball return is from Brunswick and the real Four Seasons bowling alley was AMF.
At the Ohio state fair the state police arrest the group for not paying a hotel bill. That's a civil offense not a crime that the police can arrest people for. It's a local matter, not even something state police would investigate.
When the characters are arrested, the sign outside the police station reads "Ohio State Police". Ohio has a Highway Patrol, but no state police.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol would not be involved in a dispute over unpaid hotel bills. That would be handled by the county sheriff.

Revealing mistakes

In the sound studio, looking into the sound booth, a character throws up a stack of papers, and some land inside the performance area. There should have been a window for them to bounce off of.
When Frankie sings "Can't Take My Eyes Off of You" for the first time at the Roostertail (1967 real life, 1980 movie), over his left shoulder is a white haired musician. This man is also in the 1990 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame band (guitarist wearing hat), but hasn't aged.
When Frankie Valli is in the diner after his daughter dies and the snow is falling, the trees along the street still have full green leaves.

Miscellaneous

When they are stealing a safe they put it in the trunk of their car lifting the front wheels of the car off the road. The car is somehow still able to turn even though the front wheels don't have contact with the road.
When the group enter the bowling alley, a girl is bowling with no ball.
When Vincent Piazza takes off his guitar, he doesn't hold it by the neck and lift the strap over his head. Rather, he holds it by the body with his right hand and lifts the strap over his head with his left. When he puts it on, he dangles the guitar by the strap and puts the strap over his head. When putting it on or taking it off, a real guitarist always holds the guitar with his left hand by the neck and handles the strap with his right. Clearly, Vincent Piazza had never held a guitar in his hands before this film.

Anachronisms

When the film begins in 1951, someone mentions Topo Gigio, a puppet that first appeared on Italian television in 1959 and was brought to American audiences in 1962 on The Ed Sullivan Show (1948). This goof may be an allusion to the coincidence that Topo Gigio and The Four Seasons both made their Ed Sullivan debut in the installment The Four Seasons, Peggy Lee, Anthony Newley, Jose Greco, Joey Forman, George Matson, Dominique, Alan Gale, Topo Gigio (1962).
Bob Crewe's 1959 party features Andy Warhol's "Soupcans" (1962) on the walls.
When performing "Walk Like A Man" on American Bandstand (1952), the band is called Frankie Valli And The Four Seasons. The name changed in 1970 after Tommy DeVito and Nick Massi left the band.
When Mike the cop catches Frankie breaking curfew, Frankie is singing "Silhouettes," which was released by The Rays in 1957, a few years after this scene takes place.
At Bob Crewe's apartment, in the late 1950s, platinum LPs are prominently displayed behind the bar. The RIAA started issuing platinum awards in 1976.

Audio/visual unsynchronised

The studio musician starts playing "Can't Take My Eyes Off of You" on a Fender-Rhodes electric piano, but it makes the sound of an acoustic piano.
After Nicky goes off about the tiny hotel soaps, Gyp is clearly speaking, but there isn't any sound.
When Nick Massi plays a Hammond organ (probably a C-3 or RT-3) in the church, it makes the sound of a pipe or cathedral organ.

Crew or equipment visible

A camera and operator are reflected in the red Cadillac as the door closes and it drives off.

Errors in geography

Since the late 1800s, the Ohio State Fair is held in Columbus, not Cleveland.
After the group has been thrown out of the Four Seasons bowling alley, a motel is shown next to the bowling alley. In reality, there was never a motel next to the bowling alley, which was on W. Chestnut Street in Union, NJ. Today it is the site of a Costco.

Character error

Someone mentions the group appearing on Bandstand on Saturday. In the 1960s, American Bandstand (1952) aired on weekday afternoons.
