Lots of Physical Comedy
GunnersMate28 May 2018
Up in the Air is worth watching for Colin Ferguson's physical comedy alone. Carter's everyman persona being put through absurdly unusual situations is something that Ferguson makes look so easy, and this episode really gives him room to strut his stuff. Not that he doesn't deliver his lines with just the right amount of snark and exasperation - he does and he does it well. Up in the Air is a terrific example. The crisis of the week is fun and has one of the funniest reactions to a bank robbery ever shown on screen. There are several active subplots that also keep this episode lively and entertaining: Jo and Zane; Henry and Grace; and Fargo, Parish, and Holly. Each has its own combination of emotion and silliness which help make this episode so much fun. On the darker side, Allison is still dealing with her experiences from Reprise and she is only beginning to realize what the viewer was given a glimpse of: she is in serious peril and doesn't even know it.
