Rubes In The City
boblipton29 June 2021
Here's the earliest example I can think of of the movie comedy in which country folk head into the big town ad behave totally inappropriately. It was long a favorite of stage and story, albeit often with the country folk being wiser than the city folk.

When I say this is the earliest film I've seen using this theme, well, there are plenty of people claiming a particularly movie is the earliest of its sort. I've learned that's a dangerous thing to do. First, because some one else will turn up with an earlier example, second because there are a lot of missing movies. So I weasel-word my claims.
