Ken Arok, a Javanese man raised by criminals, becomes a fugitive but transforms after meeting religious leader Loh Gawe. He joins the army and falls in love with the regent's wife, Ken Dedes.

A traditional Javanese story based on historical events in Kediri, East Java, popular in Indonesia theater and literature.. Ken Arok, after being abandonned as a baby by his parents, was raised by criminals. When he grew up he became a fugitive from the law. He began to change after he met a religious leader Loh Gawe who helped him apply to become a soldier in Tumapel.
