- With Sophie being below the red line and Burgandy the person voted off of those below the yellow line after the last weigh-in, there are twelve contestants left on campus... or so those twelve believe. However, the five contestants who never made it onto the ranch arrive, with the one of those five with the highest percentage of weight loss coming onto campus to compete with the twelve. That person learns that he/she will wield much power as that person will also determine the newly formed teams: six on the black team who will train with Jillian, and six on the blue team who will train with Bob, with the final person, who will have immunity for the week, being allocated to the team who loses a contestant this week. That person makes a surprise decision which may be their downfall if the plotting on the ranch works the way those contestants determine. The game playing irks Bob and Jillian, who get wind of the plot. Beyond their first workout, their first team task is a reward challenge, where, as a team, they must race through downtown Los Angeles the fastest, with a different team member answering a food related question at each of six stops, with wrong answers resulting in that team member needing to complete a workout time penalty. The challenge ends with surprising and selfless results. This week's weigh-in ends up being an emotional one based on the thoughts of game play.—Huggo
- Five contestants who didn't make it to the ranch in the premiere episode now return, all vying for a spot back in the competition. Whoever has the highest percentage of weight loss wins their way back in, and also wins one of the most important, game-changing decisions of the season when the competition moves to blue team vs. black team this week. In their first challenge as blue team vs. black, they race through food stations in downtown Los Angeles, answering food trivia questions that come with a physical challenge penalty if they choose the wrong answer. And the stakes are high with the winning team getting "The Biggest Loser" meal plan by Ediets for each member, plus the always-coveted reward of letters from home. When one team proves victorious, members of the losing team get a heartwarming surprise. Later, the drama heats up when a rumor spreads of one team possibly throwing the weigh-in, and after a tense weigh-in, the players send another contestant home.—NBC Publicity
- We open with news that the five contestants who came up short in the cities will be getting a second chance. We see bios for them and then learn they will be weighing in immediately the person with the lowest weight loss gets to join the show.
Up first is Corey, who at home has lost 37 pounds (to 354). Needing 23 pounds to overtake Corey, Shanna is down only 21 (to 221). Montina needs to have lost 27 pounds and also comes up short, dropping 17 pounds (to 270). Sandy has to have lost at least 25 pounds to edge Corey and does it, dropping exactly 25 pounds (to 234). Our final contestant is Anna, who must have lost at least 32 pounds to overtake Sandy. She does it easily, down 39 (to 291) and officially in the competition.
Afterwards Alison rocks our world as only she can, telling us we are about to go to Blue and Black teams. Bob will train Blue and Jillian will train Black. With 13 players, Anna will pick six for each team and allow one player to be immune this week and join this week's losing team the following week.
Anna has conversation with the 12 contestants, asking them if they have preferences for trainer or fellow contestants. All of them tell Anna she must take immunity.
Anna picks Jessica, Adam, Aaron, Jesse, Lisa and Mark to be on the Blue team. For the Black team she picks Rick, Ada, Brendan, Elizabeth and Frado, leaving only Patrick. Anna then decides to place herself on the Black team and give Patrick immunity.
We see the first team-specific workouts and the consensus is the teams are relatively even. Jillian takes an obviously struggling Anna aside to talk to her. Anna believes she is a failure to a number of people including her son who died from cancer.
Patrick and Brendan sit in their dorm room and discuss Anna's "dumb" decision to not take immunity. In another room members of the Blue team are worried about team Black losing the weigh-in and getting Patrick to become a strong team.
Challenge time: Each team will visit a food station in a different part of the downtown LA. There they will be asked a question about the food item. Get the question right and the get directions to the next station, get it wrong and they must complete a physical challenge. First team across the finish line gets 40 weeks of the show's food delivered to their home for free and letters from home. (Patrick gets the letters regardless.)
Black team gets the first station correct, while Blue gets the question wrong. Blue has to do step-ups before moving on. Anna gets the question right at the second station, and once again Blue misses. Black team gets the third question wrong, as does the Blue team. Black still has a lead but Brendan gets the fourth question wrong and has to swim a lap in a pool. Blue gets the fourth one right and is now on Black's heels. Black gets the fifth station wrong, as does Blue.
The fifth station penalty is that the entire team has to climb 21 flights of stairs. Black has a lead, but Elizabeth is struggling mightily. Ultimately Ada has to go back down the stairs to help Elizabeth and Anna get to the top but Black wins the challenge. The Blue team comes up and begins falling apart. Brendan, Anna, Frado and Ada feels guilty and give up their letters. Letters are read and we hear a stunning bit of news: Aaron's son London "is the reason why I'm doing this."
Rumors begin to fly that the Black team is going to throw the weigh-in. Bob is convinced Black wants to lose in order to get Patrick. Jillian talks to the girls on her team about the fact the person with the highest percentage is safe. She then takes Brendan and Frado aside and tells them it wouldn't be fair for someone like Anna to go home without a chance. Frado then talks to the entire team about making sure they don't throw anything.
Weigh-in time. Before beginning Adam says he wants to save his two-pounds advantage for another week. Immune Patrick is first. After telling us he's torn between wanting to be with Bob vs. wanting to be, we see that he lost ten pounds (to 346).
Blue team will be on the scale first. Jessica steps and is down six pounds (to 248). Next is Mark, who has lost nine pounds (to 352). Lisa has lost eight pounds, from 260 to 252, upping the team total to 23 pounds. Adam is down 11 pounds (to 335), Aaron is down 12 (to 407) and Jesse has lost 16 (to 305). This means the six members of Blue have lost a cumulative total of 62, or 3.16 percent of their total weight. For Black team to win they must have lost more than 52 pounds.
Before the Black team weighs in we see Frado is getting a little grouchy and the topic of throwing the weigh-in comes up again. Alison suggests that planning to get rid of someone intentionally won't be good for one contestant. Frado, thinking he is on Survivor, responds "It's still a game,"
The first contestant on the scale is Anna, who believes she will be going home if they don't win the weigh-in. She is down five pounds (to 286) and immediately begins crying. Up next is Elizabeth, who is also down five pounds (to 218). Frado is next and he has lost 9 pounds (to 308). Jillian thinks this means he didn't attempt to throw the weigh-in. The remaining three players must have lost more than 33 pounds. Ada is down nine pounds (to 215) and Rick is down ten pounds (to 287).
Brendan must have lost more than 14 pounds to Black to win and before weighing in tells Alison he "played it straight." To the surprise of no one he lost exactly two pounds (to 313) and Blue is the winner. "Come on," is Frado's response. Brendan swears on his goddaughter's life that he did not throw the weigh-in.
The only person safe from elimination is Ada, who had the highest percentage of weight loss. During Black teams conversation Brendan swears again that he didn't throw the weigh-in. All five of the at-risk team members say they would like to still be around. In an interview Frado tells us that this is still a game and a Black team member has "no idea what is about to happens to them."
Voting time. Anna is up first and votes for Elizabeth in a desire for the team to have more strength. Elizabeth votes for Rick. Rick also voted for Elizabeth. Saying she thinks this person is ready to be at home Ada votes for Rick. Brendan says he is voting for his biggest threat and votes for (gasp!) Rick. With the tally 3-2 Frado votes for Rick because he says he doesn't think Patrick would ever vote him out.
Our vignette with Rick shows us he has lost 57 more pounds since leaving the Ranch.
