Among The Best of All "House" Episodes
rentatrip14 July 2018
No fluff in this one. We see a brilliant Doctor intent on Fixing the Problem. Fine Acting by All . One of the BEST episodes in this entire series. House does not digress , and so the plot remains intense . No BS from BS therapist Psyc doctors playing with his head. No BS from medication addiction , JUST GOOD Entertainment ... 7 thumbs up

Not a review

As the title states, this is not a review.

When watching most things I, generally always have the captions on as I don't listen at deafening volume and the sound quality of most productions have gone to absolute hell, especially with transference for digital viewing.

I often notice, and by often I mean very often, discrepancies between the actual dialogue and the captions. I am watching on Netflix and they are just horrendous for their translations and depictions.

In the last few episodes; seasons as it were, I have noticed several errors.

One such error in this episode, when Cuddy is talking to the patient after she requests a female doctor, she states:

(Just after the 14:00 mark of the episode) "I can perform the procedure myself, if you still prefer a woman doctor"

In the captions it says: "I can still perform the procedure YOURSELF...."

This can lead to bewilderment, as if it were incorrectly conveyed that Cuddy is suggesting that the patient do the procedure themself.

While this is not generally in Cuddy's nature, a few episodes prior; from the previous season, she does tell a patient that (non-verbatim here) "We deserve to get paid for what we do and if it means taking your home to achieve that, then that's what we'll do" which was absolutely cold!

Who is to say the viewer isn't left confused at this point wondering exactly where the error is and what is really going on?

These are simple, and pathetic errors constantly made throughout the series in the captions. This one was just too absurd to ignore.

These are not typos, this is sheer ignorance. Its a completely different word with absolute antonymical meaning.

For those that require captions, I will continue to post these events. It is getting beyond ridiculous.

Other than that, this episode shows promise.

House treats one of his favorite authors, a suicidal lady who happens to write Twilight- like corny novels

Warning: Spoilers
Like many other reviewers, I too am a bit bored with Season 7. Making House and Cuddy lovers certainly proved to be an incredible task. I believe the writers did their best, but somehow I never trusted those two as a couple. In this particular episode, the team deals with a case that occupies House personally since the patient is his favorite novelist, a suicidal writer of corny novels about a teenage detective, who in fact happens to be her dead son. I somehow feel that the writers obsessively try to make House weird and sarcastic as much as they can, since they are aware of the fact that these character traits constitute much of characters appeal. Up to this point, it has become some kind of a cat and mouse game between the writers and the audience, or at least it seems the writers believe so. Hey, if we don't come up with excessive amounts of House's weirdness in each episode of each season, people are not going to put up with the shows occasional lack of pace! Here they made him a corny novels fan, in a newest attempt to shock us by making House doing, saying or liking exactly the opposite of what everyone expected him to. Usually you would expect House to mock literature like this, right? You would probably expect him to make some sarcastic comments concerning a young patient impressed with this kind of literature. Well, guess what? You got it wrong! He is obviously crazier than you could ever imagine. In fact he doesn't dismiss idiotic fans such as Twilight's, he is one of them. Of course I don't expect House to quit with sarcasm and irony. In fact, I too am attracted to him for these reasons, but I noticed it somehow became its own purpose. Beside providing a safe retreat for confused or tired writers, of course. Well, I still believe this show has much to say, House is undoubtedly one of the most interesting characters in TV history, but season 7 in general is a bit slow. This particular episode is no different, although it is still worth watching. Oh, and I miss Thirteen...

A respite from the freefall
aspectacleofmyself2 November 2018
House was in free fall by the time this episode aired. Thankfully, that very fine actress Amy Irving briefly stabilizes with a bravura performance. Meanwhile, a recently castrated House and more self centred than usual Cuddy continue their ridiculous scorpion dance. I assumed full on normal crappiness will be resumed next week.
