A subtitle seen (when Lincoln is about to get the nomination) reads "1859", it should read "1860". (This is likely a typo).
Gideon Welles is shown wearing a Union Navy admiral's uniform from the start of the war. Notwithstanding that the rank of admiral did not exist at this point, Welles was the civilian Secretary of the Navy and never wore a uniform nor held active navy rank in this position.
