Severe Lack of Disclosure
ThatGuyInTempe27 October 2013
The first reviewer got it right - 748 complaints about not being ready for the open house. Clearly Yancey is good at his craft since his house and car are a little better than the Las Vegas average. I noticed on tonight's episodes that his results are often overstated...

***

For "Yancey's Eleven," eleven units in Montova at Lake Las Vegas were purchased by Goliath-City Investments on 01/09/12.

4 Via Centrale, the building in the middle that was focused on most in the episode, has three units - all are still owned by Golaith-City.

21 Via Mantova (parcels 160-14-816-001, -002 and -003) has three units purchased and still owned by Goliath-City.

25 Via Mantova has three units always owned by others.

27 Via Mantova #1 has been owned by others. 27 Via Mantova #2 (160-14- 816-014) was sold by Goliath-City to an individual on 10/18/12. 27 Via Mantova #3 (160-14-816-015) was sold by Goliath-City to an individual on 10/05/12.

29 Via Mantova #1 has been owned by others. 29 Via Mantova #2 (160-14- 816-017) was sold by Goliath-City to an individual's investment trust on 10/12/12. 29 Via Mantova #3 was sold by Goliath-City to a couple on 11/27/12.

Let's review:

  • 4 Via Centrale - bought 3, sold 0, owns 3 - 21 Via Mantova - bought 3, sold 0, owns 3 - 25 Via Mantova - bought 0 - 27 Via Mantova - bought 2, sold 2, owns 0 - 29 Via Mantova - bought 2, sold 2, owns 0

(one more unit was purchased - address uncertain)

Goliath-City purchased 11 units in "Yancey's Eleven;" the end of the show highlighted receiving an offer for 5 units and toasting the sale of "8" homes that day. They still own at least 6 of the 11 units.

*****

The Stink House, parcel 125-20-713-087, was purchased by Goliath Investments in October, 2011 and as of today is still listed by the Clark County Assessor as one of Goliath's six properties in the county.

Let's review:

  • bought 1, sold 0, owns 1

The end of "Stink House" claimed a "first day offer" with a large projected income. I guess he ended up "renting it to a nurse at the nearby hospital."

Got an idea.stage an episode that scott gets bopped over the head by a falling 2 x 4.(for now we'll say it was an accident).he gets concussed.he leaves AMIE alone to make all the decisions right up to open house ,while he's recuperating ,at home, in his little boy bedroom. harry silvia portsmouth,RI

Too staged
vincijohn15 December 2013
The show is now just plain dumb as if Amie's stunts are real. All the show us now us Scott yelling at Amie. Come on really??? I agree with others about all the staged stunts, like the safe in the closet and how each house is carefully trashed/staged before they see it fir the first time. OMG this place is a mess; stripper pole, alien detection computers, mud pit, jeez come on. What's next terrorist house? Illegal alien safe house? I don't know how those two idiots keep a straight face. I swear to grid the 2 Mexicans carrying that granite countertop dropped it on purpose in an episode. Can they at least pay hood extras that could make the drop look like it was accident. It's so staged

Weak rehash of better shows
lazerbel10 August 2011
"We may miss our deadline for the open house!" repeat 748 times per episode.

This show is a minor variation on the old theme of the makeover. Because there's "nothing new under the sun", mining an old genre can be worthwhile. Worthwhile, if well done. This show fails miserably.

Each episode provides sparse details as to the reasoning behind material and structure choices. And practically no background on the neighborhood of the remake houses or the comparable houses in the real estate market. Bottom line: The writers and producers make no effort to provide any useful or interesting background information.

Instead we are subjected to the endless false drama subplot of supposed personal conflict ("I'm going to fire these guys if they don't get it done in time!"). This schlocky subplot revolves around the main focus of the show -- the looming open house date. Puuhhleze. If tens or even hundreds of thousands of dollars are at stake, why the constant nail-bitter deadlines? One extra week of principle and interest on these houses is typically only in the hundreds of dollars. But they can't carve out a little of this extra time at minimal cost in order to be certain the proper choices are made and the work it done right? Of course they could. But the producers are stuck in this silly need for constant drama.

The audience are supposed to believe that the company owner is buying these houses without a thorough inspection, doing a quick budget in his head, and then making snap decisions about design and furnishings. And steadily making a handsome profit every single time? Bah.

Lousy show.

What a joke
wcautoandmarine25 September 2014
HORRID HORRID HORRID acting. I do believe the guy is probably a total douche in real life however. Last episode I watched was a so called fire-damaged home. Except it was a fake fire with something that looked like black spray paint and a burned door which looked like it was paper instead of a door. It was ALMOST as bad as the fake vandalism episode. Whoever does these fake props should be fired. This ass Scott certainly has a strong opinion about how most of the laborers are screwing everything up- maybe he should try a days worth of hard labor along with em? Now THAT would be a show! The first episode I ever watched was this clown Scott having a fake heart attack. The cameras adjusted their tint and actually made his face turn green! Then full camera crew is in the hospital LOL SO SO SO FAKE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This show is an insult to its viewers
signature_concrete9 December 2012
I hate scripted reality TV and worse planted reviews. Just fix up the house without the fake problems and phony dialogs. Pretending to hide safes, purposely dropping granite counter tops, intentionally screwing up railings and I not talking about cutting the spindles, the constant whining. I will not even get into the Chuck Barris hairdo. What a waste of my time. Can not wait to see this show replaced and to bad I liked Amys taste. There is no way people communicate this way and be successful. One of the worse shows yet. It becomes tiresome to SCRIPT so much negativity and end up with so much profit. As if OMG can you believe I actually made tens of thousands of dollars on that deal I thought I was going to lose money after I berated my wife and hired incompetent people who pretended to screw me yet worked through the night to meet my unrealistic deadline my producer made up to create drama because they think only stupid people watch these shows. I give ya 15 minutes. not a second more.

How in the world did this piece of drivel get a time slot on TV?

2011? When did the housing market ever return in Las Vegas?

Why does Scott seem to drive around in a tiny little car that appears like he is on a race track? And what kind of car is this?

His voice is like nails on a chalkboard.

"My blood is boilng!" "Sanding a cabinet is time consuming!" "But it must be done right!" " I can't have an open house with wet cabinets!" "My guys are going to have to kill themselves to finish this!" "This thing is going to be ready by open house, I don't have a choice!

Scott, shut up!

Funny and hilarious!
arabilyn15 December 2013
I like this show. I don't think its something to take so seriously.

This probably is fake but to be honest, I don't really care. Its interesting how everything gets put together and the end result. The arguments are really funny between him and his wife. From the stripper poles to the daycare, it really is surprising to see what's inside when the door is opened. My favorite episode is probably the one with the twins. That episode was just so funny i think everyone needs to watch that episode not expecting good acting/a show without a script.

This is television. Everything on TV is fake. I know some people who were in competitive TV or "reality shows" and they had said that directors tell you the kinds of things to say and what personality to have to make the show interesting.

great show
tonypray4613 April 2014
Anyone who says this show is staged is nuts . For one , do some research and check on the Goliath company Scott owns . Did you even know that Scott is the creator and Executive Producer of the show ? Yes he is in fact and this show follows actual jobs that they have done over the years. How anyone can think this show is fake is just plain ridiculous . Have any of you seen what people do to houses that are repossessed ? They tear them up , rip thing out of the house and leave them a royal mess. Did any of you know that Scott is the creator and executive producer of the show ? You should look up his company online and you may learn a few things about Goliath and what good they do for people and giving to charity and caring about the environment as they do . Yes they may get in arguments on the show but the Husband and wife team do an awesome job finding and renovating and designing the houses they flip.

Terrible, terrible, terrible. Did I mention it is terrible!
cpl-75 January 2013
The TV was already on this channel when I turned it on this morning so watched this show for awhile. I'd never heard of it but most of these shows are pretty similar and can generally be mildly entertaining and at least minimally informational. Whoever green lighted this drivel should lose there job. Painfully scripted, horribly whiny, and ridiculously dramatic, it misses the mark in every possible way. And the only thing it does for the "star" is make him look like an absolute moron. Good to know he's writing a book so I can eliminate I from my future reading list in advance. If he actually finds a publisher ans sells more than one copy ( to himself of course), I'd be shocked.

Some shows are so bad it can make them entertaining for that fact alone. Some people re so obnoxious it can make them entertaining for that fact alone. Neither is the case here. This show is so terrible, and this guy is so terrible, that they just need to be put out of our misery by not being aired anymore!

Hundreds of hours of show edited to 45 minutes!
mawmawbbbw1 March 2020
Hundreds of hours of filming is edited to 45 minutes of TV viewing. The show stars run their own real estate business and film this show. How laughable is it that viewers think that the Yancey's do only ONE house at a time? Gee, at least pretend that ignorance is actually bliss. The television producers cut the hundreds of hours of film and select the ones that are more "entertaining". If you want to actually learn from the show, I suggest you tape the show and view it with no sound. I miss the show and learned valuable lessons that I used in our home. The show on mold incursion may have saved my family a lot of pain and suffering and probably financial problems. We had a water leak from our bathroom which I thought we had cleaned very well. I never gave it another thought. After watching that episode, I donned gloves and mask and pried up one of the floor boards. BINGO! Mold!! Insurance in the South does NOT cover mold. Had the home inspected, mold cleaned and floor replaced. Just recently, we had several terrible wind/tornados/rain/hail storms. (typical for this area) Our roof was damaged but we couldn't SEE a leak. There are several leaks and the insulation is also wet in some areas. You guessed it! Another episode of Flipping Vegas has prevailed. As I type this we have a contract for replacing our roof and gutters. An inspector will look at our attic insulation and let us know what we have to do. Insurance here in the South doesn't cover that either. We also learned about design and how to prepare for a "rainy day". So! Thanks! Scott and Aime Yancey. You saved my bacon AND I learned something even as I was being "entertained" Sure wish you would come back to television land! I watch every rerun. TRUST ME! I rather be entertained by the Yancey's than watch ANY news shows. I have NEVER been PC and am darn proud of it!

It's worth a watch, I got hooked
djfuzz-3627515 March 2019
Of course most "reality TV shows" will eventually have added bogus things the producers add/make up to make them more interesting. This show, now being canceled, still has a strong rerun presence on cable TV, and I usually end up rewatching the old shows when I come across them. The yuppie chemistry that Scott and Amy have is just fun to watch. If you enjoy home renovation and/or house flipping shows, this show was (and still is with reruns) one of the more fun series to view. It's cable tv, kill some time.

This man is a jerk Nickeling down seems to be how he makes a living. Using people is how he makes a living. He disgusts me! Watching him treat the men who are working their rear ends off for him disgust me. How did this man get a show. Plus this is a repeat of a million other shows. But other shows show so much more class. I will not watch this show again. Where do you come up with the people who are in these shows? Really his project manager summed him up correctly because all he cares about is making a buck. No care about his fellow man. Hope his profits go totally down one of his cheap drains. This is a typical jerk! Why is any network willing to put up with this bully. Yeah! A Bully. I don't get how total jerks can get put on TV.

Horrible!!!
Jesuiserin2 November 2013
I had to create an IMDb account just so I could review this show. There are some pretty horrible reality TV shows out there, but this is by FAR the worst I have ever seen. The TV was on this channel when I turned it on so I left the show on. I usually like home remodel shows and house flipping shows. But this was painful to even have in the background while I started cleaning my house. It's so scripted and the guy is a total jerk. The woman has the ugliest plastic surgery of all time and is incredibly whiny. The fake drama is crazy, I couldn't handle it. I had to turn off the TV and write this review immediately so that the producers will cancel this show ASAP!!! Nobody should be subjected to watching this, I feel bad for all the editors who have to actually watch all the footage of this show and put it together. Terrible terrible terrible

Confirmation that Flipping Vegas is staged
jedua8 March 2014
Warning: Spoilers
During the "Chopshop House" episode, an old ratty Honda is found in the garage. Scott Yancy proceeds to do his usual, he over-reacts and breaks out the rear window. He then drives off in the old beater...he is so resourceful. Flash forward several days into the remodel, Amie is in the kitchen explaining how she went over budget on kitchen counters (she "accidentally" spent $4,000 on an $800 budget). Scott and Amie exit stage right through the garage, and there it is...a brief glimpse of the beater Honda still in the garage. Since the Honda had ostensibly already been driven into the sunset, and the "I went over the kitchen budget" scene was supposedly filmed well after the beater had left, that means the kitchen scene was filmed before the beater hit the road. Scott and Amie already knew their manufactured crisis was in place. Wish the producers had enough respect to at least make this spoof appear as real as they'd like us to believe...but of course, we know the truth. They're as lame as Scott Yancy.

Abusive man I will no longer watch
moondrop00027 August 2014
I am so horrified that here is ANOTHER Flipping Las Vegas where some really mean macho man is abusing his wife, his real estate agent, and all of those he works for. I just watched, in two shows, how he calls his wife and real estate agent "his girls", talks about his wife and new real estate agent having a cat fight.

He calls everything "his" money, and that his wife is trying to spend it all. The wife does things behind his back and they are constantly battling, even in front of the workers. She literally COWERS before him. This show is stereotyping women, abusing women, and showing a piece of *** man who sets a schedule and then abuses and demeans everything in his path that slows him down. At the end he pockets a huge sum of money.

With the disgusting set of ethics he has, the abuse to the women he crosses path with, and his constant abuse of a wife (who will OBVIOUSLY leave him eventually and take half of "his" money.) I am done with this show. Good riddance.

Why are these producers still thinking abusing women is some sort of entertainment?

Biggest A**hole in so many ways
stellataylor-4596922 June 2020
I never thought I'd ever see a fully grown adult (even worse that he's also of mature age) behave like such a spoilt brat.

He's the true definition of an a**hole both as a person and as a boss.

*behaves like a spoilt rich kid *everything is all about him *BS drama *always over exaggerated drama queen *even though they make profit the just is only half done! Not professional. Only caring about their profits and not the quality for their buyers *the icing on the cake is how to belittles EVERY ONE

I'd give this show a negative rating or at best a 0 if I could.

Flipping Vegas Super Awesome
jamesspeed13 January 2014
Scott is well he's a little lisper, but it doesn't turn me off on the show. As far as the Porsche GT3... I wish I had it in those colors. I guess I just have to settle for mine as it's straight red. This show is fake, but I like watching it as it helps me relax on Saturdays. My wife always gets mad at the way he treats Latinos(she's Colombian), but it obviously is a staged show.

Here's how the show goes in a few sentences...

Scott stops over to a house that one of his agents bought that is a great deal, and finds out it's a piece of s***. He blows up over the cost... then gets calm and drives back to the Goliath office to talk with Aimee about how she can't go over budget on this one, or he will lose his a** on it. They do their assessment... and go their separate ways... Aimee buys a s*** load of travertine and granite... goes WAY over budget... Scott gets mad again... yells at the Latinos... miraculously finishes the house on time after finding and fixing (gangs, coyotes, mold, termites, satanic church, chop shop etc.) and it sells in one day at listing price...

Dang I wish I could get it done like that...

Very interesting show!
sabikm-211678 September 2016
I love this show!! I have watched a lot of flipping houses reality show but this one is the most interesting one. I think Scott and Amy make a really great pair and they make the show very lively and funny. I especially think Amy has some great talent in remodeling houses and has some great taste in home designs. She knows how to pick colors, tell what cabinets would look good, tiles that would go with what and also have very artsy taste. I can watch this all day, seriously. I like how they both get at each others throat throughout the whole time but at the end both their passion in what they do shows with the house that they finish. If I live in Vegas, I would not mind living in one of the houses they have built. They don't just build a house but they put a lot of thought and design in them. Actually, I feel the house they complete should be worth than what their price is.

The show isn't so bad
gia_smith11 September 2016
I actually have fun watching this show. Scott can be very funny.

However, I don't understand how he can gut 2 bathrooms & a kitchen plus make a pass through between kitchen and living room, put up new cabinets (or put up stained cabinets), granite counter tops, beautiful back splash, flooring, add stove & refrigerator, install shower, toilet, small cabinet and toilet in each bathroom, install Aimee's feature wall, add tile to the living room, dining area, kitchen flooring, flooring for both bathrooms, THEN put in carpeting for stairs, upstairs hallway and all bedrooms and FINALLY, paint the inside & outside of the house (coming back later to correct mistakes Scott & Aimee have found), and pay LABOR - all for $12,000 to $18,000. Whoops - almost forgot - if an A/C is needed or items stolen, it "blows" his budget and we can't forget "landscaping" where he gets a bunch of rocks and dumps them in the front & back yards.

Isn't there a minimum wage law in Nevada? I get the feeling he picks up day laborers who stand on the street early every morning to get work.

I'm pretty sure it's Scott who sets the time line for showings and that's what drives Aimee nuts. I don't blame her - one job was 3 days! Needless to say, they went over his time line!

I know Scott can be outrageous but he has a good sense of humor and, at the end when they do their final walk through, he does tell Aimee her designs were good.

I wish they showed some affection for each other. Putting his arm around her shoulders or waist; she could put her hand around his waist or lean her head on his shoulders. Call each other "Honey" once in a while and stop blaming Aimee if the house turns out to have bugs. That would improve the show 100% alone.

At times Scott calls the homes names like, "dump" and says, "Let's just go with cheap materials - no one will ever know", etc. If I just purchased one of his homes and watched the episode, I'd be a little upset, especially if I was told the kitchen was "all new, cabinets to floor" when the cabinets were stained.

One more thing - the flips are "his". The company is "his". He talks about firing her (and divorcing which is not funny, Scott) - I don't know about NV law but she's been a big part of making his flips go so well - how can she not get a piece of the biz if they do divorce?

Horrendous crap
Cult-Stitch8 December 2013
When it comes to reality TV, you have a lot that are bad because there is no entertainment value or you have a series that is so scripted that it defies all logic and reason, with the case of Flipping Vegas you have both. The problems are numerous, one the real estate market is in the toilet so believing the numbers this show presents is a lot to swallow. But it is if each home that is purchased for this show is "themed", the stripper home, the frat home, the chop shop, the marijuana house... I've only caught a handful of episodes, but I would bet $100 that the show already featured a meth lab or will do so in the future. Then add in the cantankerous wife that insists on stepping on her husband's toes, the husband that is constantly whining, then add in regular characters like "the twins". It is absurd on its face and even though the production values are better than anything on TruTV may very well be the worst example of reality television broadcasting today. Of course it's on A&E which has the reality TV golden goose Duck Dynasty, but that's a whole other story in itself. My god.

Entertaining Education
tyson-975-75038017 April 2014
Warning: Spoilers
Real Estate is something that I have become more interested in over the past 5 years.

I love watching Flipping Vegas because it offers a balance between educating me on important pitfalls to avoid, while also entertaining me. One episode that stands out in particular is when Mrs. Yancy pulled down the carport by tying a rope onto the back of her car and driving away.

Although I haven't bought any properties to flip, I feel like I'm a little closer to taking that step since I watched this show.

I recommend this show to anyone who wants to stay in on a Sunday morning and snuggle with the girlfriend while sharing a laugh or two.

I did not first watching this show till it was all most over with.
james-g-farmer22 March 2015
I am sorry to see its over with ...I would have given it a 10 but there are other shows like it ...But I "liked Flipping Vegas" the Best.

I have my Tivo recording all episodes till I get a chance to see em all.

I must say I am shocked that many people did not like it?

I wish some other network would pick it up...

I Live in North Charleston, SC how about you start one called Flipping Charleston ...we have a lot of place nice and a lot that are trash...

But I really hope some network will pick up flipping Vegas, as I really want to see it go on.

Hideous Show
Kpfm543 November 2013
I was so taken by how dreadful this show is that I joined IMDb for the sole purpose of posting this review. Where to begin... The manufactured drama is pathetic. I believe Scott's only description of the current situation is "disaster". He spends so much time verbally wringing his hands that one might believe he has never encountered dry-rot, a dirty pool or delayed deliveries before. I wonder, is there a law that would cause him to be incarcerated if he misses an open house date? And then there is his "decorator"/bride Amie. A voice that could make layers of flocked wall-paper fall off the walls whenever she bellows her banshee cry "Scoooottttt!". I forced myself to endure one whole episode; but it will be the last. I suspect that they truly are successful at their core business; cheers to them for that. Their acting, however is horrific.

Weak show, demeaning towards women

The show is pretty awful, disappointed that any network is willing to air a show in which the lead is so demeaning / condescending towards anyone else, much less his wife.
