A Longstanding Tradition at Woodford University
lavatch11 September 2022
Warning: Spoilers
In "Are My Friends Killers?" (aka, "Secrets on Campus"), there is a deeply ingrained tradition at Woodford University of a group known as The Select. These are the scions of the elite who belong to a highly select group of "legacies" and offer a network of support, as well as kinky weekly get-togethers at private locations off campus.

Miss Zoey A. Connors has a dream of attending Woodford as a business major, but her grades have not been quite up the standards of her bestie, Lauren Price, who was admitted to the university's school of journalism. But Lauren's mother suddenly pulls strings to have Zoey admitted to Woodford when her daughter mysteriously dies. At mid-semester, Zoey takes the place of Lauren and even resides in her friend's old dorm room.

Two of the first people Zoey meets on campus are Samantha Sloan and David Devine, who extend an invitation to Zoey to join The Select. David oozes the charm and Samantha introduces Zoey to Chloe Pena, who secures an internship for Zoey. It soon becomes apparent to Zoey that something is not right with internship when she is required to hand off envelopes full of cash as bribes to shady people.

It stretched credibility when Zoey is told by Mrs. Price that in order to have her tuition paid, Zoey must go undercover as a sleuth to discover the true circumstances of Lauren's death. It simply wasn't convincing that the grieving mom would in effect blackmail her daughter's best friend, when Mrs. Price could have simply hired a private investigator.

Much of the action unfolded in a head-scratching way, and the overall impression of the film did not evoke a believable university setting. No one seemed to be learning much academically, and the luxurious residence halls seemed nothing like real dorm rooms.

While there were not many twists or much dramatic tension, the actress Jalina Brown was outstanding in the role of Zoey. Everyone will look forward to seeing Jalina in more Lifetime films in the future.

Yep, another stupid pathetic college tv movie thriller by LMN, the masters of some of the stupidest scripts and storylines. The part that was the pinnacle of stupidity was when slimeball "the select" member David walked Zoey home on the first night. The conversation went like this. David: I'm going to kiss you now. Zoey: okay. After some tonsil hockey Zoey says: wow that was fast! Seriously? Who was fast you or David? He says I'm gonna kiss you and without hesitation you say okay and he does what he said and you say that was fast? Let us not forget after the second date when slimeball walked Zoey to her dorm and started salivating on her neck she said she liked to take things slow, and next thing apparently she counted ceiling tiles! Something seriously wrong with script writers, producers and directors!

None of the characters were likeable except for. MIng and Adam oh and Jennifer Dorogi (Mrs. Price) was about the only one whose acting was most convincing. If you've watched college tv movies before and not liked any or some of them, hear it from me, don't bother watching this one!

Terribly stupid movie!

Wow, I'm not sure I could say enough bad things about this one. Absolutely horribly scripted plot, so full of holes it's like a piece of Swiss cheese.

It starts with a mom who sends a young girl to college under false pretenses, wanting her to conduct an investigation. Hey lady, how about hiring a private detective?

It doesn't get any better like a guy called falling for a girl after she treats him badly at the library. Yes, of course that's what makes men fall for women.

Then there's the cops. The cops wouldn't make a very good police reservist, much less a full-time detective.

This is a really crappy script, and a crappy movie. Avoid it. I only gave it to stars because the ending was moderately OK..
