- While Jim and George crash weddings looking for the bold band of wedding bandits who took Stephanie's ring, Katie covers Stephanie's blood test.
- After Stephanie's ring is stolen during a robbery at a high-end wedding, Jim and George become wedding crashers in an attempt to catch the thugs. Meanwhile, after learning that assistant Katie misguidedly used her own blood to cover for Stephanie's company physical exam - fearing that the results would reveal her powers - Stephanie is forced to use her powers in order to retrieve the blood sample from a secure lab; against her parents' wishes, Daphne wants to tell her friend Megan about her telepathic abilities after she inadvertently reads her mind and blurts out what she heard; and JJ asks Daphne to scan the mind of a cute girl to find out if she has feelings for him.—ABC Publicity
- Jim (Michael Chiklis) likes to go to the ocean and hit baseballs in it when he's stressed out (hope he uses biodegradable ones...poor fish). He tells George (Romany Malco) that he's still upset that Detective Cho was murdered and he couldn't do anything about it. Unfortunately, the wedding the family attends (and he misses because he forgot about it) is being robbed. Given the large crowd and men with automatic weapons, Stephanie stops him from doing anything in there, even though she loses her diamond ring as a result. Jim goes after them as they scale up a building, but he misses them on the jump.
Stephanie (Julie Benz) gets the grant from the Board of Directors to study her plant, but the large life insurance policy the company takes on her means she has to take a physical. Katie (Autumn Reeser) starts planning strategy to make sure the doctor doesn't find out about any changes that have happened to Stephanie. Stephanie worries about the blood test, so Katie takes the physical for her behind her back. Only Stephanie got her blood screened when she first worked at the company. When they see the two different samples, they'll slap the cuffs on both of them. A burglary must be planned.
At school, JJ (Jimmy Bennett) finds a cute girl who is interested in his new-found powers. Daphne (Kay Panabaker) runs into a classmate who is having problems at home. At least, that's what Daphne hears in her head. Daphne invites her over to the house and finds out Megan's parents are getting a divorce. Unfortunately, she mentions it...even though Megan never mentioned it...and Megan can't leave the house faster. Daphne is ticked and wants to tell someone about her powers, but Jim already learned that lesson, thanks to George's comic-book reading.
GEORGE: There's a reason why those guys have secret identities. 'Cause the minute they find out, it's over. Someone gets robbed and you can't stop it? Jim's fault. You can't be in two places at once and someone gets killed? Jim's fault.
Of course, Jim told George and Stephanie told Katie, so the kids see some pot/kettle action going on. Jim and Stephanie meet with the kids and agree the kids should get someone, too. And they offer Katie and George to them. Not exactly what Daphne and JJ had in mind. But things aren't all bad. JJ effectively blackmails Daphne into finding out if that girl really likes him. She can rat on him to their parents all she wants, but it won't get her 12-page book report on The Iliad written any faster. Daphne confronts the girl JJ likes, Sara, in the hall. Sara tells Daphne JJ is nice, but her mind says otherwise.
George and Jim figure out the crooks who knocked over the wedding they were at have hit other weddings, so they go the Vince Vaughn/Owen Wilson route and start crashing weddings. Minus the hooking up afterwards...and we find out why Jim stepped on Stephanie's toes at their wedding. It sounds all well and good until the lights go out like last time and someone walks in with a knife. And who wants to bet Jim tackles said person, only to find out they were coming in to cut the wedding cake and thus ruining the reception? Yup.
George takes Jim to work on being able to dance, land safely, and jump to appropriate places to catch the bad guys. George tries to teach him to dance. And "Booty Quake Hits of the 90's" works until Jim tries a spin and damages the house...not to mention Daphne's eyesight when she sees him. But she was going to play along and ask George a question about how to tell JJ Sara wasn't interested in him. George tells her to tell JJ Sara is interested in a different type of guy...athlete, astronaut, rock star... whatever JJ isn't. And Daphne settles on a Jewish guy, which JJ isn't. Sounds like a good idea, except JJ is determined, can look things up on Google, and can memorize the entire Hebrew language in only a few minutes.
Daphne goes to talk to Jim because she is wondering what he was doing earlier with George. However, what he was about to do now with George was more important, as George calls him about another wedding reception. Jim tries to lie to cover his tracks, obviously forgetting his daughter could read his thoughts and knew what hotel he was going to instead of the precinct.
DAPHNE: Dad, you wouldn't lie to me, right? You'd always tell me the truth?
JIM: Always.
Stephanie and Katie swipe an access card from a co-worker and go into the basement lab to retrieve the sample. That is, Stephanie does, and speed was definitely an asset on this. JJ invites Sara over for homework and tries to give her the full Rabbi Brad Pitt, which of course doesn't work. JJ is confused and asks her why she only dates Jewish guys. She denies it and leaves, and JJ suddenly figures out something you don't learn in books.
George and Jim make it to the wedding, and it was the right call. The robbers make the hit. They stay down and wait to make their move. Jim takes out someone, only to be shot by one of his partners with an assault rifle. Fortunately, Jim's natural bullet-proof shield is mistaken for Kevlar, and the robbers think there are cops at the wedding. They high-tail it out, and Daphne makes it to the hotel. Jim makes it up to the roof and accidentally throws one off of the roof. Unfortunately, nobody saw anything, and falling on the hood of a squad car won't link him to the robbers. George has to let the man go, but at least he got back Stephanie's ring.
Back at home, Daphne is understandably upset at Jim for lying to her. As is Stephanie. Daphne's had enough of Jim lying to her, especially when she could always count on him to be honest. She goes off to tell Megan what happened to their family. Stephanie stops Jim from following her because she can sympathize with Megan, who doesn't have a George or Katie to talk to for herself. Daphne apologizes to Megan for acting so weird, but Daphne pretended she overheard her mother talking about the divorce at the supermarket. Daphne is still upset about her father going out and risking his life like he is. Jim tells her how important family is, and that he's finally doing something he thinks he should be doing. Later, Jim takes Stephanie to her favorite restaurant. Actually, to the roof of it, as it takes six months to get reservations. They decide to enjoy the good things about using their powers as Jim returns Stephanie's diamond ring. He never liked the ring, but it was the only ring he could afford when he proposed. He tells her he never forgot her saying she thought how beautiful the ring was...and they dance on the roof.
Dr. King (Stephen Collins) calls in the scientist whose keycard was used by Stephanie to access the lab. Of course, he doesn't know it happened. By running the surveillance down to frame-by-frame, Dr. King sees the lift.
