In the aftermath of the riot we learned that Paul Young is not dead and Susan has been hospitalized with a ruptured kidney, which they took out.
The detectives interrogate the folks on the Lane, people are happy but no one is confessing.
Beth goes to visit Felicia Tillman-- her mother-- in prison, assuming that she hired someone to kill him. Felicia professes ignorance and points out that she wouldn't have Paul killed without first proving he killed her sister. Beth is confused and so is Felicia. On her way back to her cell, Felicia asks the guard for a "clean" cell phone. She calls someone and says she realizes that the person on the other end changed their mind about that "proposal" of hers. She's talking to Mike.
The gang on the Lane tries to get things back to normal.
At the hospital, Susan learns that because of her injuries to her abdomen, she needs a new kidney, eventually, because her remaining kidney is wonky. She needs to go on dialysis in the meantime at the hospital for every 48 hours until a doner for a new kidney is found. It's a big change and the doctor isn't very nice about it.
Meanwhile, Gaby takes Juanita to a fancy shmancy doll shop to "adopt" a doll for her birthday to make her feel better. Juanita is unimpressed until she sees the doll. She likes it. Gaby goes to take a picture of Juanita and her new doll with her phone and Juanita sees her lingering over a picture of Grace. She gets mad and storms out of the doll shop.
Renee goes to visit Susan in the hospital and Susan tells her she's not telling Lynette about her fling with Tom because Renee is going to do it. Renee next goes to the Scavo house and runs into Tom. At first Tom is relieved when he hears Susan won't tell Lynette. But Renee explains if she's a true friend she has to tell her. Tom tries to convince her not to out of fear to what Lynette's reaction will be.
At Bree's house, she brings Keith a cold root beer while he gardens. She's been unpacking his stuff and making him feel welcome, even though she destroyed his bean bag chair and lava lamp. They're enjoying their newly moved-in bliss when her ex-husband Orson shows up to ruin it having been dropped off by a taxi and he wheels himself into Bree's house, Orson claims that girlfriend kicked him out and he needs a place to stay. Keith is skittish about it, but Bree says they insist and he can stay as long as he wants. Orson calls it a rebound but Bree insists it's real.
At a doctor's office, Gaby and Carlos wait in the waiting room while Juanita is in therapy. Carlos blames Gaby for Juanita's angry state of mind and the shallow Gaby says she doesn't know how many times she can say she's sorry. Carlos says that he doesn't care he just wants Juanita to heal. The therapist calls Carlos and Gaby into her office while she asks Juanita to wait outside. The doctor explains to the couple that Juanita is angry and confused. Since Juanita is now aware that she is not Carlos and Gaby's biological daughter, she doesn't feel anything for the departed Hector and Carmen but Gaby apparently feels so strongly about Grace. The doctor tells them to get rid of all photos of Grace and her artwork in the house to remove the memory that she ever existed.
The detectives visit Paul Young in the hospital and say that everyone on Whisteria Lane had a motive to shoot him, but they all have an alibi. Except Beth, who they try to question but Paul stops them saying she definitely wasn't involved. They ask if there's anyone else they can think of who might hold a grudge. Beth gives a bit away due to her jittery facial reaction, and tells the detectives 'no'. The detectives catch it and decide to investigate her.
Gaby, predictably, finds it difficult to eradicate all traces of Grace from the house and Carlos angrily busts her. Instead of wanting to throw pictures away she wants to put them in the safety deposit box. Carlos says the doctor told them to erase Grace from their lives, not just hide it. He takes her phone to delete the photos and tells her she is to act as if Grace doesn't exist and never mention her name again. Carlos further yells at Gaby that Juanita is in pain and it's Gaby's fault for not protecting her from the truth.
Mike surprises Susan in the hospital. She's thrilled to see him and he says dialysis is not as bad as it seems. Susan says she's not doing it for she has a job and a kid to raise and she doesn't have time. Susan claims that she is investigating holistic therapies. Mike doesn't like the idea, it but says he'll support her.
Meanwhile, Renee and Lynette present a design to a potential client, a hotel owner who loves how well the two of them work together. They say they've been best friends for 25 years. 26, Renee says. She's starting to feel very guilty. When Lynette brings her her favorite cookies, Renee starts to cry and the client starts to freak out. Lynette sends the client away and asks Renee "what the hell?" Renee spills about Tom that they had a sexual encounter over 20 years ago. She says it was just the one time and it meant nothing. Lynette pointed out that it was after they were engaged. Renee says they had broken up for the week. Renee cries and apologizes profusely. As expected, Lynette gets angry says she doesn't want to hear it. She tries to storm out of the restaurant but Renee's her ride. In the car Renee asks if Lynette hates her. Lynette tells her to shut up and that she does hate her but foresees a day when she might hate her only a little. She's mostly mad that for the last 20 years both Renee and Tom knew this and she... didn't. Lynette asks her to not tell Tom that she knows.
It's Juanita's birthday and they have a party with cake and Juanita wearing a tiara. Juanita seems to be slowly recovering for she is in a fairly good mood while Gaby is melancholy.
Tom comes home and says he had the worst day ever. He kisses Lynette and asks about the pitch. She says she got the job. She starts to talk up Renee and how amazing she is. Tom agrees, curtly. Lynette offers him some hot chocolate, it's boiling hot and he burns his tongue. Lynette makes a very wicked smirk as it becomes clear that she served it to him on purpose. But Tom does not seem to catch onto it.
Meanwhile, Bree serves coq au vin for dinner, Orson's favorite. He kisses her hand as Keith enters. Keith is confused they're not having sloppy joe's which are his favorite food. Orson gives a fancy quote toast and Keith responds with a Yosemite Sam quote. Orson mocks Keith's age and intellect and wearing a T-shirt at dinner. Keith ends up whipping food at him. Bree apologizes. Then Orson whips food at Keith. And then, of course, food fight!
The next day, Bree goes to visit Judy, Orson's ex-girlfriend. She asks if Orson can stay at her place until he finds a new place. Judy says Orson left her because he told her that he is still in love with Bree.
Gaby goes back to the doll store, but she gets one for herself, one that looks like Grace.
Bree comes home and Keith apologizes for loosing his temper at Orson the other night. He tries to say he's cool with it but Bree tells him that Orson is still in love with her. Keith wants to kick him out. Bree says she will make it happen. Bree confronts Orson where he immediately starts talking and says leaving her was his biggest mistake. He says if she disagrees to just to tell him. Bree says she's made a new connection and that although she can't articulate it, being with Keith has made her a different person. She tells him he'll always have a piece of her heart but it's over. Orson says he won't give up trying to win her back. She goes back to Keith and says Orson will be staying for a few more days. He gets mad and says Bree is still in love with him. He tries to run off and says he understands why she would rather be with coq au vin than sloppy joe and they should cut their losses. She tackles him in the garden, which is full of wet deer manure, and professes her love. He is charmed, Orson, looking on from the stoop is surprised but perhaps realizes he's outmatched.
At the hospital, Mike keeps checking with specialists for a kidney transplant for Susan even though she told him that she wants to do it her way. MJ asks her questions about her kidney and wonders if she could die without a new kidney. She tries to distract him by offering to take him to the hospital cafeteria ice cream. The nurse tries to stop her from taking him to the cafeteria since she's so fragile but she says she needs to do this since MJ is scared over this. As they walk, Susan collapses and starts having a seizure. Which of course really scares MJ even more.
The girls come to visit Susan in the hospital. She tells them she's doing the dialysis until they can find a donor, which could be three to five years. She asks them if something happens, if she were to die, that they to her can they help Mike with MJ. They try to reassure she'll be fine, but Lynette adds if something does happen they'll be there.
Meanwhile, Mike goes to visit Felicia and says he didn't shoot Paul Young. By now, she (and the viewers) are really confused now and wonders who did.
In the final scene, the detectives return to the hospital and drop the bomb that they made a background check on Beth and found out that the imprisoned Felicia is Beth's mother. Paul pretends like he knew and that with love and prayer he and Felicia have come to an understanding. He tells them that he doesn't talk about it with Beth so they shouldn't either. Of course, when the detectives leave, Paul is clearly seething with a mixture of anger, fear, and wariness.
