A mind-bending plot that's well worth pondering alongside.

It's truly disheartening to see this film expose the dark side of 'money talks' where even the police can be swayed. Aaron Kwok, who loses his girlfriend, finds himself surrounded by questionable colleagues, superiors, and current partners-all entangled in the desire for money through land redevelopment. Hong Kong cinema has always had a knack for depicting police corruption realistically, and I must say, the intense showdown between Louis Koo and Aaron Kwok, along with the plot twists involving Tony Leung Ka-fai orchestrated by 'Darker,' keep this film consistently engaging, a mind-bending plot that's well worth pondering alongside.

Cross over x cross over

Warning: Spoilers
To me this is Death Note x Faceoff. Plot is overly complicated and execution is poor. As in everything is 1 speed, fast. No change of pace, no character development, just plot point after plot point.

Cinematography is good, direction is good mind you, just script is blah ! It's the same sickness again that plagues 90% of these HK funded movies nowadays. They need backers to fund the project. And to do so backers want stars, that means skim on the writing.

In a way this shows either no total control nor final cut option by director or the writing want to show cleverness. And every twist point must be explained by one of the main lead as if in a musical recital. How very boring. Then again the plot is highly improbable and uber twisty.

There are lots of TVB regulars and to pick Louis Koo as the seemingly minor character is a dead give away. The other movie recently with the fate and misfortune is comparatively better.

Overly complicated and badly written
ak_kumar0010 February 2024
At first seemed interesting but as the movie went on it continued to get complicated hard to follow and too much explanation of the plot. Probably even the writers and directors could not figure out what was going on so not only did they have to explain to themselves but also the viewer. Character development non-existent plot twists unnecessary and constant so it's hard to work out what the overall story is. Very disappointing a lacklustre film with a good idea poorly executed and poorly written even characters don't seem to care ending like the movie itself makes little sense. Do not watch!!
