- Guinevere and Leontes return with her father Leodegrance and cousin Bridget after their homeland is invaded. Initially reluctant to let them stay as he knows that Arthur dreams about Guinevere,Merlin agrees that the betrothed young couple should marry in Camelot,which Arthur and his knights are rebuilding from the ruins. Against his better judgment Merlin accompanies Arthur to Castle Pendragon,invited by Morgan,through her maid Vivian,to get better acquainted. Nerlin discovers that Morgan killed her father and she drugs and ties him up but,after a battle of wills,releases him whilst Arthur and Guinevere have sex on a beach. - Hoping to boost recruitment for Arthur's tiny army, Kay and Leontes set out to recruit a maverick fighter as new knight. They find born warrior Gawain bitterly isolated in a ruined chapel, cynical about chivalry, yet Kay manages to bond over a surprising common interest, literature. After Guinevere's father Leodegrance is pillaged, they seek sanctuary at Camelot. Merlin eagerly agrees to a grand wedding there, to boost moral and grant Arthur's court splendor, which the queen mother enjoys organizing. Arthur accepts to attend a lavish feast in his honor at Uther's castle, hosted by Morgan. Merlin disapproves but accompanies the king, finds she indeed has wicked magical plans, but finds it hard to counter them. Arthur fails to convince Guinevere to cancel the marriage, but wins a single night of secret passion. She uses stag blood to pretend loosing her virginity in Leontes's wedding night.—KGF Vissers
