- Ali invites the two remaining bachelors to Bora Bora, Tahiti to meet her family. Then the men have one last chance to lay their hearts on the line, each trying to guarantee that he will be the one to get Ali's final rose. But Ali, who has risked everything for a second chance at love, has always feared that she might fall in love but not be loved back. When she finally lays it all on the line, will she find love or leave paradise with a broken heart?—ABC Publicity
- It all comes down to this, America. Will it be Roberto or Chris L.? Before we can get to Ali's future, however, we have to revisit her recent past. We see rejection from Rated R as well as Frank. We see tears. We hear angry words. Bottom line: it hasn't been easy for our dear bachelorette, who gave up "everything" to find love on national TV.
Ali then turns her attentions to her current beaus. Super-hot Roberto makes her feel like a "woman." Chris L., on the other hand, makes her "laugh so much" and has such "great character." Hmm. A difficult decision, indeed. Ali, wearing a tiny bikini, contemplates her fate while the Tahiti breeze blows through her hair. It's quite dramatic.
First to meet Ali's family: Roberto. "I really, really want today to go real well," he says. Really, Roberto? The former ballplayer meets Ali's dad, mom, sister and brother. The happy couple tell cute stories of their history together before mom pulls Roberto aside for what we assume will be tough questions. Instead, mom begins to cry and tells Roberto, in Spanish, that his heart is pure. "I can't contain the joy of this whole experience," mom says through tears. "I'm just so happy for her!" It seems mom is smitten, too.
Will dad be any tougher? Not really. Roberto is just so darn charming (and handsome) that no Fedotowsky can resist. When Roberto asks for pop's blessing, the old man barely pauses before responding: "I think you're a great guy, so I don't see a problem with it." With mom and dad in his pocket, Roberto then teaches the family how to salsa dance. Observes Ali: "He just fit right in!" Later, Ali walks Roberto back home to his bungalow -- and a heavy make-out session follows.
The next day, Chris L. meets the family. "I'm going to make sure her brother and sister and parents meet the real me," he tells the camera. The first step in that process is admitting he is from Massachusetts -- just like Ali! "They are loving him!" Ali tells the camera. Ali's mom then asks Chris L. about his mother (uh oh). He fights back tears as he discusses his mother's fight for life. Later, mom tells Ali that he finds Chris L. "wonderful." "I'm glad I don't have to make the decision," mom says with a laugh.
Dad then asks to speak with Chris L., who plans to ask for "his daughter's hand in marriage." Dad asks if Chris L. really does love Ali. Chris L. gives a long, convoluted answer that essentially boils down to "yes." He then asks for dad's approval if he does get the chance to ask Ali to marry him. "I would have no problem offering up my blessing," dad says. Anybody else want to ask for dad's blessing? The man is feeling generous. Later, Ali walks Chris L. back to his bungalow. They make out.
Ali then returns to her family, who offer their advice, which is conflicting at best. "I just need to make sure that I'm picking the right guy for me," Ali tells the camera. The next day, Ali meets Roberto for their final (on the show, at least) date. They go for a ride on a jet ski before coming upon a school of sting rays. Naturally, the pair jump into the water to swim with the monsters. "Oh my gosh, this is so amazing!" Ali says as the rays swarm them. The two manage to get out alive and then head to a private beach for lunch. They make out. "I'm just baffled at the idea that he could be mine," Ali says. "He is one of the sexiest men I have ever seen." It soon starts to rain and the pair make out in the surf.
Later that night, Roberto welcomes Ali to his private bungalow. They sip beer and discuss their fabulous date. "That was SO awesome," Roberto says. Ali agrees. The bachelorette then wonders if he is Roberto's type -- and he kind of dodges the question, saying he doesn't really have a "type" (other than beautiful, we assume). Roberto then gives Ali a picture frame with a sappy note on the back. "Even if there is the slightest change I can end up with her, be happy with her, I'll take it," he tells the camera.
Then it's time for a "serious talk." "I feel like I know how I feel," Roberto helpfully explains. He says that he does love Ali and is ready to marry her. She is SMITTEN. "My heart feels like it exploded out of my chest!" she says. "Like, exploded!" They make out. "Everything I came here to find, I found in Roberto," she tells the camera. It is implied that Ali spends the night. At the very least, she definitely doesn't want to leave.
The next day, Ali meets Chris L. "My feelings have just been all over the place," she tells her Massachusetts buddy. "You're one of the best men I've ever been able to meet in my whole life." What are you trying to say, Ali? It soon becomes clear. Chris L. isn't even going to get his final date. "I'm love with somebody else," she tells him. "I have to let you go here." He is CRUSHED. Poor Chris L. didn't even make it to the final ceremony, which kind of kills all the suspense. Chris L. can barely speak. "Thank you," he says. Thank you? Thank you for what, exactly? The two hug it out -- but don't make out.
Later, Ali contemplates her decision while sitting on the beach (again, quite dramatic). Chris L., meanwhile, calls Ali "one of the most amazing girls I've ever met in my life." He then thanks Ali (again) for letting him go one day early -- and not dragging it out. He then sees a rainbow and interprets it as a sign of hope. "I was, like, 'Wow,'" Chris L. says. "That's just my mom saying, you know what? When you put yourself out there for love, there's a chance you're going to get hurt." Goodbye, Chris L.
So it's basically over. Yet, a few minutes remain in the program, so we watch Roberto choosing from a half dozen ENORMOUS diamond rings. He chooses one and wonders whether Ali will return his feelings. We then cut to Roberto taking a shower, shaving and dressing. He takes a deep breath before leaving his bungalow to meet his future wife. Ali, meanwhile, holds a rose that, she says, symbolizes "her whole life." The pair soon meets atop a flower-strewn hill. "Hey, beautiful," he says. "My heart is pounding right now!"
He professes his love. She professes his love. "You're the only one here today," she says. "I love you so much -- I really do!" They both giggle. He soon gets down on one knee and presents her with a giant diamond. "Will you marry me?" he asks. Responds a squealing Ali: "YES!" We are then treated to a retrospective montage of their relationship -- all set to Elton John's theme to "The Lion King." It all ends with Ali giving Roberto the FINAL rose. So it's all over, folks. It's Ali and Roberto -- or "Alberto."
